Because of my own modding compulsions, I've yet to play a VIET Immersion, Events and Traits + PB game, but I have noticed a "no culture" character in Al-Andalusia. I investigated this and found that the "Mande" culture is still spelled "Manden" in a few documents.

@pnutmaster: Apparently PB has Mande instead of Manden for whatever reason, so I suppose I'm not surprised that I missed a few characters.

@rationalsanity: key features you can expect from VIET include the following (taken from the first post):

  • Modules, compatches, and customization options (including in-game customization!) allow for a level of customization rarely seen in other mods!
  • Music modules! Over 100+ new songs to enhance your CKII audio experience! 100% compatible with ANY mod or combinations of mods - VIET is not required!
  • Tons of new flavor events that provide variety!
  • Tweaks to existing traits - traits actually matter now, and have a bigger effect on attributes, relationships, event choices, and more!
  • New cultures and portrait sets, including melting pot cultures, and improvements to existing portrait sets, including more Orthodox beards and more Irish/Scottish redheads!
  • Reduced blobbing and other balance tweaks!
  • Several new Republics, including several Muslim "Republics" in the Indian Ocean!
  • Culture/Religion specific mechanics! Byzantine dynasty shifting, West African Griots, and more - see this link here for a full list and explanation!
  • And many more flavor and gameplay tweaks, changes and additions!

You can read the stuff in the first few posts to learn more about what VIET has to offer.

hi,

relatively new on CKII but immediately fell in love with the PB-VIET-SWMH-combo
however when reviewing this page, i noticed a lot of the events shown in the "screenshots" tab didn't happen to me,
Like those new ambitions. I think my setup is in my signature but after reading the OP apparently Defines needs to be disabled, however i have finished quite a lot of games without errors. Is the activation of Defines stopping those traits,ambitions,... or is it stopping other PB functions and if so, can i reload my older saves without defines activated?

In any case, loving this mod. Thanks for all your hard work on making this game a wonderfull experience

hi I am having some issues with viet for pb (1.4.0). I don't get any descriptions from events, viet stuff... I tried to reinstall the mod but it still doesn't work. I really can't tell if the problem comes directly from the mod or from the other compatible mods I am using.

Can you list all the mods you selected in the CKII Loader? Also, did you enable VIET Assets?

Okay, can you drop Family Relations and AO 2.0(don't think that's compatible on its own with the latest patch) as they are now integrated into VIET. I imagine that that is what is causing your problems. Also, did you delete the religions folder in ARKO/common/ ?

I hadn't played VIET in months, but I decided to give 1.4 a try. After firing up a few games in different locations, first let me say it looks very nice. This might have been mentioned elsewhere in the thread, but I've noticed something peculiar. I'm running all VIET without other mods. I did remove VIET's CB files as they are too far removed from vanilla for me. I don't know if that is causing the issue.

In every game, Hungary is formed within months of the 867 start date. It has happened in all five test games that I started. My first real game is as Karen and I did a lot of savescumming from day 1 to win my first war and actually have a chance to succeed from there. That was probably about 10 attempts and Hungary formed within months every time with previous territory intact as well. I have seen it form that early in vanilla, but I've also seen it form 100 years later. Is this random chance in my particular games or by design?

BTW, in the Karen game, Bulgaria took most of Greece by 900. Very nice.

Tried PB + VIET + SWMH for the first time and it is awesome! Love your idea of making individual music packs which one can use to customize his music. It's a big change after playing The Prince and the Thane all the time. Keep up the good work!

So what is the deal with Asatru?

I have 3 of 5 holy sites, having conquered Zeeland while the HRE was in the midst of a civil war (and I also raided Leuwen, which was the HRE capital, but they were bankrupt or something). I don't quite have 500 piety, but I'm close. However, I'm Norse. I have Norse religion. The requirement for reformation appears to be Asatru, not Norse. Must be of Asatru faith, or whatnot.

Perhaps I'm just confused, having not done a reformation as yet, but I am confused by having the post-reformation Asatru as the requirement for reforming the Norse faith.

the requirements in VIET are much more strict.

I did remove VIET's CB files as they are too far removed from vanilla for me. I don't know if that is causing the issue.
Can you please explain how you did that? I would really like having vanilla cbs too.

Finalllly getting around to doing that Orthodox music pack I promised you a while back, Cybr. Quick question though; experimenting with the tunes in game, I simply duplicated one of your text files that list the conditions for the music to play, renaming the tracks and the conditions, I can see the track titles in console, but the music playing is not the track I specified. What am I doing wrong?

Hello all,

As some of you might know, I'm currently doing the converter for VIET to EUIV (I can say work is going abit slower than Id hope, if you check my location and follow the news you may be able to guess why) and today I had the chance to see Meneth's official converter for Project Balance. Looking at the files, I quickly noticed we both approached this with rather different mindsets. As it is, with Project Balance, if you are say a slovenian character in PB, after conversion your kingdom will become croatian, and if you are jewish, you become orthodox. Simple as that. While I dont criticize Meneth and his work, this is not the approach I was going for, but it did make me question exactly what people want from their converter. As such I thought I should ask,

Right now I can do this in 2 ways, I can follow Meneth's lead and simply convert all the added stuff into stuff thats already in EUIV (Uighur -> Chinese, Pecheneg -> Tatar) which will be very quick to do, so much so that I'll be likely do have it all finished for both versions by tomorrow.

OR, I can stick to my original plan and actually add every single culture in cybr's anedoctically (is anedoctically a word?) long list of cultures he added to his mod (Uighur -> Uighur, Pecheneg -> Pecheneg), plus unique entries for the new religions (jewish -> jewish). This will take me longer as its a higher ammount of work and I dont have cybr's knowledge of ancient civilizations and thus need to spend time reading wikipedia articles on people I never knew existed, to figure out how to best convert them, with the upside being that your converted game in EUIV will look considerably closer to what you left behind in VIET or VIET+PB.

Personally, my heart goes for the second option, even tough its a bigger heap of work and I'll eventually have to bug cybr all the time asking the weirdest questions like "were the uighurs more chinese or more mongol?" I believe at the end we'll have a richer converted game, even if the wait will be longer. Regardless, its good to be democratic about these things, so what kind of converter do you want for VIET?

Even if I don't own EU4 actually, I'd rather go for the 2nd option.

(also, what is happening ? Forgot to follow the news)

Go for the second option, that way if you do an Ancient Religion one you'll have no problems ;)
