Is this compatible with vanilla save games? And is it compatible with the converter for EU4?

Of the major modules, Events (and possibly Core and Traits) shouhld be compatible with vanilla saves, Immersion definitely won't be. The music modules obviously are compatible with anything.

As for the converter, Events and Traits should be compatible, Core if you remove the religion file. Immersion isn't. Someone is offering to do the EU4 converter for me, but since he's doing it out of the goodwill of his heart it will depend on how much time and energy he has.

And is it compatible with the converter for EU4?

Hello :), since I'll be doing the converter for VIET and PB+VIET, I adressed the ETA for it a few days ago, here's the post:

About the EUIV converter's ETA, as stated I expected to try to push the PB+VIET converter during this month and leave the VIET one for early September when I'll have way more time. Unfortunately, the more I look at what needs to be done, at my job, till he end of the month, the more I think I'll be fortunate if a can have everything finished by the 30th, let alone also cram the converter work in. Really quite unfortunate, if EUIV had released a month later or earlier, Id get on with it right away, but right now with august vacations, maternity leaves and sickness, my team is cut down by 2/3 so its been madness around here. With that said, I'm placing the ETA at the first week of September, with the PB+VIET *maybe* coming earlier, but that'll be unlikely. I know alot of you want to convert your VIET saves to EUIV but unfortunately thats the situation Im in, and I can only ask you to keep your saves till September. On the upside, after the first release which will be about making the converter actually work, I very much intend to flesh it out further and give some flavor to other converted nations than the meager 3 that PDS focused on, plus seeing what else can be done with the converter, so definitely theres reasons to be happy about this whole thing :D

I am writing about the Battle of Hastings. I think the mod has greatly enhanced the strength of William the Conqueror. I believe that over 26,000 soldiers are excessive when in fact they were between 7000 and 12000. This precludes any hope for Harold to defend his throne. Which file I have to change to avoid this?

Is it the formation of the titular kingdom of Genoa supposed to happen or some sort of glitch? I guess one of the Doria Doges got super-ambitious and split off, but still I haven't seen something similar yet: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=170701401

Something like that can happen, though rarely, if the current holder of the republic's capital becomes a castle holding (often because they somehow lost their city). It's something that can occur in vanilla, so it's probably just a freak accident. I've occasionally seen it for various realms that started as Republics.

I currently don't remember whether I'm using vanilla values or whose changes I'm using for the Harold/Harold/William troop set-up. To change these yourself, go to "mod/[PB] VIET Immersion/history/characters". William's stuff is in norman.txt, Harold Godwinsons' in saxon.txt, and Harold Hardrarararara's in norweigian.txt. Search for each of these characters and below each ccharacter should be a section dedicated to their troop numbers at the 1066 start.

Just a question. Will it work with Customization Pack too? Viet+PB+Customization? So if i call my kingdom "x" it will show in EU4?

I have no idea, to be honest.

Short Answer:
Yes it can work just fine. Someone already made the great Lhama Empire based in Athens with only the customizer and converter, and then uploaded it to Steam. Possibly the only condition is that the title you customize is not tagged to convert to an EUIV country, which may override your customized name for that title.

Long Answer:
Unless your primary title is tagged to link to an EUIV country, the converter will always respect your customized name, be it a dynastic title or one made with the customizer. If say, your primary title is k_morroco, then you'll always become EUIV's Morroco rather than a new Almohadid country or whatever. This explains why alot of people have been seeing some tags stay dynastic named and others dont, as not all CK2 titles have matching EUIV countries. Now, wether if, say, I'm CK2's King Of Serbia and change the title to Kingdom Of Remove Kebabs and convert, I know the converter will link me to EUIV's Serbia, but I dunno if it'll change the naming files to accomodate my title... Given that it doesnt do for dynastic names, my guess is not (tough it should be fairly quick to test).

I was considering working on a workaround that'd involve clearing all CK2->EUIV linkage and then mod in the NI to those tags so that with the exception of the flag, a converted France would feel and play like EUIV's France, with an added bonus of being dynastic named (and probably customizer) friendly, but then you'd lose any flavour events that nation may have, and Im not sure if the tags are dynamic or will always be the same, so Im not sure that can even be fixed... If I can figure it out I may try to fix it in the long run, but right now it seems like we'd lose alot for what can be easily fixed with a quick trip to the converted "mod" localization files in the EUIV folder.

I would like to start a game with viet and then convert it to eu4. But I would like to know if I can use viet core without creating some issues with the eu4 converter ?

Core, Events and Traits is fine. Immersion will cause problems until the converter is updated. As you can see in this thread that will happen around early September, so if you wanna play with full VIET and unless you're a rather fast player, you can start playing CK2 now and by the time you finish the converter should be out, or if not you can always just hold on to your save until it is :)

Also since the mod is gonna have a non-save compatible update fairly soon, you might want to hold off a few days and wait for the next update, rather than be stuck with the current version (is it compatible with the latest patch at all?)

apparently the mod still works. The thing is I've only tried a quick game on eu4 to learn the basics ( I have played around 5-6 hours with Castille). I would like for my first real game on eu4 to be a converted viet game or PB + viet game ^^

@bengrimm: As OrdepNM said all modules except Immersion should be fine. For Core, if you want to be safe, you can remove the changes to religions by deleting this folder - "mod/[PB] VIET Core/common/religion".

Short Answer:
Yes it can work just fine. Someone already made the great Lhama Empire based in Athens with only the customizer and converter, and then uploaded it to Steam. Possibly the only condition is that the title you customize is not tagged to convert to an EUIV country, which may override your customized name for that title.

Long Answer:
Unless your primary title is tagged to link to an EUIV country, the converter will always respect your customized name, be it a dynastic title or one made with the customizer. If say, your primary title is k_morroco, then you'll always become EUIV's Morroco rather than a new Almohadid country or whatever. This explains why alot of people have been seeing some tags stay dynastic named and others dont, as not all CK2 titles have matching EUIV countries. Now, wether if, say, I'm CK2's King Of Serbia and change the title to Kingdom Of Remove Kebabs and convert, I know the converter will link me to EUIV's Serbia, but I dunno if it'll change the naming files to accomodate my title... Given that it doesnt do for dynastic names, my guess is not (tough it should be fairly quick to test).

I was considering working on a workaround that'd involve clearing all CK2->EUIV linkage and then mod in the NI to those tags so that with the exception of the flag, a converted France would feel and play like EUIV's France, with an added bonus of being dynastic named (and probably customizer) friendly, but then you'd lose any flavour events that nation may have, and Im not sure if the tags are dynamic or will always be the same, so Im not sure that can even be fixed... If I can figure it out I may try to fix it in the long run, but right now it seems like we'd lose alot for what can be easily fixed with a quick trip to the converted "mod" localization files in the EUIV folder.

The Jewish-themed update is coming along well. All I need to do now is fix up some obvious issues and some de jure title changes, as well as the integrate of MZ and NAE 2.0 (if Korbah finishes in time). For some reason the game keeps pausing for a split second every week or two, though it doesn't seem serious (though it is annoying and I'm trying to figure out whether there's some rogue event somewhere).

Hopefully tonight or late tomorrow (I'll be busy most of tomorrow), I'll post a "dev diary" about the Jewish stuff as well as some of the goodies to expect in VIET 1.4.0.

I am writing about the Battle of Hastings. I think the mod has greatly enhanced the strength of William the Conqueror. I believe that over 26,000 soldiers are excessive when in fact they were between 7000 and 12000. This precludes any hope for Harold to defend his throne. Which file I have to change to avoid this?

In part this, large armies relatively in game, seems like a general issue, not specifically for William the Conqueror. So in part this number has to be seen relative to number of troops the Norwegians and Anglo Saxons put in the field. Looking at the estimates for the battle of Hastings the Normans and Anglo-Saxon forces could have been evenly matched; though the Anglo-Saxons, who recently defeated the Norwegian invasion army, might have had fewer men for this battle (would the Anglo-Saxons have fought against the Normans first, then this could have been the other way around).
