The only units seen in dragon age using something barely similar to firearms are the titan's sha'brytols and their weapons aren't powered by gaatlok, but by lyrium. It is highly possible that not even the qunari managed to create firearms smaller than cannons as they are seen using bows and javelins for ranged combat. However i like the idea of "reverse engineering" the greek fire event of legacy of rome and allowing dwarves, rivanian or tevene to steal it for siege bonuses. Rivanian because of pirates, dwarves for their mining and economic reasons, tevene for the chance of stealing it during war.

I have some questions:
1_There are plans to add Hakkonites as Avvars' heretics and the Pure of the Titan as heretics of the Stone religion?
2_How the never ending war between the imperium and the quanri it's portrayed?
3_It's rivanian shamanism portrayed?
4_Kind of unrelated but i have two copies of the ruler designer, sword of islam, sons of abraham, legacy of rome, the old gods, the republic and rajas of india. I'm willing to give them away as steam gifts to anyone that could need it for thedas kings development. They were sitting around since two years ago doing nothing and i feel a bit bad by keeping them all to myself.

p.s. i could obviously give away a single dlc if you already have the others

After taking a look at the pre-alpha I have a few thoughts and ideas.

Nations:
Ferelden: looks okayish with the Chasind and Avvar
Orlais: needs to be culture split (maybe something like the heartlands around Val Royeaux being heartlander/imperial orlesian, while other areas, like the Dales, having eastern Orlesian and the Tirashan, having a Tirashanian culture, which is part of the orlesian group.)
Free Marches: looks fine, Ansburgs culture look a bit odd, though not a problem.
Tevinter: needs culture split like Orlais.
Rivain: looks okay, just need some dalish county holder next to the capital (the codex mentions that in Rivain a dalish town has grown over the years next to the capital), and also shamanism ofc.
The Qunari: they should hold northern Rivain (i.e. Kont-aar, maybe give that area a Viddathari culture in the Kossith group, to reflect it being a area converted to the qun), maybe you could reflect the qunari gunpowder though a infantry retinue with super stats called gaatlok cannoneers or something.
Seheron: should have its own culture, also all Seheron provinces not held by someone of the Seheron culture should get a revolt risk 10 modifier to show the rebelliousness of the island, to offset this any one holding Seheron should also get a tax increase of +25%-50% modifier, +25% for half of the island and +50% for the entire island, to show their control of the spice trade.

Just some thoughts and Ideas I got from looking over the Pre-Alpha.

Good stuff though, this mod is on the right track.

I am still a Newb to the paradox forums.

I just wanted to confirm this mod is still being worked on.
(I am finishing up character history)

It's a small group and we just lost NGP but we are still moving forward and hoping to have some good updates...soon. I would give an approximate time, but i would rather keep you guys guessing than to promise an uncertain date. Best to just follow us on steam.

And FWalrus. That is a rather good idea. I shall pass it on to the "higher ups" (aka the people that actually know what they are doing instead of it being wasted on me the person mindlessly making characters and working on portraits) XD

We do plan to retouch some of the borders.

As for the culture fixes and adding uniqueness to certain provinces. That will be something we work more on after we release the Alpha (and like you said current released version is a pre-alpha build.) and unlike Ubisoft or EA games. that means we are nowhere near finished XD

We all thank every last one of you guys for your interest in the mod.
I will be trying to keep better tabs on this forum from now on. (I have been with the group for about 5 months but wasn't able to contribute much until now. and I noticed we have been lacking in our community interaction.)

These are some great questions and to be honest a bit out of my league. :)
1. I Will once again point out that it is pre Alpha everything has the possibility of being changed.
2. I don't think it's something planned for Alpha but I will have a discussion with the group later to see what angle we plan to come at this from.
3. Once again another question I will have to get back to you after i have a solid answer. -I currently only work on character history and plan to expand to creating the portraits and then post Alpha I will move on to event modding.
4. Thanks for the offer :) but it's just a small group and we all have the DLC we need. ( I believe most of us have all the DLC but non the less i haven't seen anyone not be able to do something because they didn't have one.)

Loghain is an awesome character. But I am too much of a Dwarf fan - Zealous Dwarf King is gonna be a fun playthrough. :D

Just wait until I can get the Tevinter Imperium up to its natural borders. As in all of Thedas.

I would like to do a big multiplayer game post alpha. would be rather fun.
I am not sure how much event wise the alpha will have.
considering we are pushing to release it by the end of the year. I am guessing not many since we are still working on characters history and what not.

And since I went that far I might as well go all the way. i am looking for custom created characters if anyone is interested. Currently only accepting Orlesians.
http://steamcommunity.com/groups/ThedasKings#announcements/detail/69038328169823652

Will also be accepting Avvars by the end of the week (though that will get its own announcement.)

Out of curiosity, how are you going to represent the dwarves?
This turned out to be a long one :)

Short story:
Dwarves (Elves and Qunari included) will be its own thing completely separate from humans and have it's own advantages and disadvantages.

Long Story:
We have castes completed. If you played the Pre-Alpha you would have a bit better of an idea as to the direction we are taking it. and in the Pre-Alpha you can see how we have done the deeproads on the map -kinda just added a 2nd map on the side- was the best we could do with CK2 maps.
the deeproads will be accessible through certain provinces. and the darkspawn will start out with all of the deeproads (except for Orzammar and Kal-Sharok)

We are working on custom portraits that we hope to have finished for the Alpha. (for dwarves we are working with origins character creation for source pictures and elves we are using the elf mod for dragon age 2.)
I am actually doing the source work and then passing the editing off to NGP. - Ultra settings at 3200x1800
~yes i know, way overkill for crusader kings portraits but I wanted to give NGP the best source material i could.
Qunari will have less customization options since we are trying to avoid inquisitions qunari.

I think specific differences in governments will receive more attention in a post alpha update but I could be wrong since I have not done any work on that part so I am not sure how different it will be compared to other governments in the alpha.
But we are trying to stay as true to the Lore of the series as possible.

Let me know if there was something more specific you wanted to know.

I believe we are planning to turn prestige into more of a currency. that might be our approach to it. Make it so prestige isn't inherited and then death type would multiply your prestige and pass a certain threshold to become a paragon. Also allow you to "buy" it through an event with a lot of prestige.

I think that would logically be our approach.
Though take that with a grain of salt. I will get back to you on this when i have a more solid answer from our lead - Which might take a bit.

Will you merge stuff from other mods like VIET for more events, knight and slave feature from AGOT and hairstyles, beards, and clothes from Congenital Overhaul submod?

I hope they'll add as many things as possible, but god... AGOT runs as slow as a slug after a few decades making it almost unplayable, Elder Kings it's not too far now that it has been updated. More flair it's good as long as it doesn't kill the lenght of the game.

I am not sure specifically what we have merged into the mod as of yet. But i do know we do have permission from the great folks working on the AGOT mod to use some of their work.
But for now, for the Alpha release we are focusing on getting traits, darkspawn, deep roads and character history finished. A playable alpha should be out by the end of the year. :)

Post alpha we have a lot of cool plans but that will have to wait until we actually get there.

Custom portraits for Elves and Dwarves may be pushed into post Alpha but after character history it will be a top priority for me.

In the end I believe the group would rather omit or recreate code for optimal gameplay than to force you guys to get stuck with something slow.
