Try turning off other graphical features in the settings file (e.g. trees, water stuff like that). I feel like your computer is a bit... out of date. But the 2gb fix should have worked. Check to make sure it saved right while you are at it.

Admittedly, it is a bit out of date. However, I have yet to encounter any trouble with any other games I play Skyrim, Guild Wars 2, Age of Conan. It still runs all those games well, so I have put off building a new one til it was kind of necessary. Maybe it is that time.

How can I check to see if it was "saved right"? I have kind of felt all along that this was a result of a corrupted save file.

Just re-open the .exe in the cff viewer and check. Also remember to do it to the loader as well. That is to say, you have to do it once for the game .exe and once for the launcher.exe.

Just a point, orthodox rulers should be able to fill every ecclesiastical position directly responsible to them at will. That was one of the major points of Orthodoxy. The Emperor in Constantinople should be able to choose who's going to be the patriarch, especially.

Hi all,

have the same problem with saved games not loading plus the game runs quite slowly. Did the cff thingy with my ck2.exe file in the steam folder, but can't do it (no option to do so appears) for t he desktop launcher. Am I missing something?

Edit: Found the problem, in tptt_education_events, the last option of event 4000001 should refer to EVTTOOLTIP4000012, not EVTTOOLTIP400012. The associated character event also has a dropped 0 (should be 4000005, not 400005.)

Oh, an idea. The following dynasties should have claims on the Emperor of Byzantium, Count of Byzantion, Count of Thraki, and Duke of Thrace (?) titles: Komnenos, Monomachos, Doukas, Angelos, Argyes, Gravas.

Actually, give every duke in the empire a claim on the title at the game's start. I've seen the Doukas family line that holds the empire at the start last for two centuries, which just shouldn't happen.

For some reason I couldn't build an ale house in my castle when the upgrade arrow was present.

Edit: I think it was because I'd saved, edited event 4000001 to correct the errors outlined above, and reloaded the save. After I quit and reloaded again the problem cleared up.

2nd edit: EVTNAME350161 is missing.

3rd edit: In fact, event names for 350162, 350163 and 350164 (like 350161, from tptt_war_events.txt) are also missing from the localization file. 350161 is a failed sally, 350162 a failed assault, 350163 a successful assault, 350164 supplies smuggled in to holding under siege.

I'm having a problem with the crusade. Rather, the aftermath. It gives the options: brother, relative, myself. Problem is, the brother it lists is dead, and it has the Pope as a relative, despite the fact that I have quite an extensive family (A Nephew actually has Wales which I have France, actually, but I also have powerful Dukes in other countries). And if I click brother (I did so thinking his son would inherit. His son's a nice lad, while my brother was actually a bit of a monster) it CTD's.

As far as the non-crashing problems of it goes, I'd recommend if you were able to, just like with marriages, pull up a list of eligable people and choose one. They'd have to be of your family, or the like, and if they were your vassal, they'd give that land to a cousin/brother and get to ruling their new Kingdom. Just a thought. Cause the way it is now doesn't really work.

This I haven't run into (don't use assassination much), so don't know what might be causing it. What decision(s) are you trying to use?

I (Duke Caradog the Pious) am, in fact, attacking Deheubarth for claims on Powys and Perfeddwlad. Anybody know what needs to be changed to fix this?

i have played a few more so here is some feedback:

1) Everybody loves each others. I mean 90%~ of opinions are 100/100. Civil wars are almost impossible. some of traits are too op and imho they should be nerfed.

2) Female chancellors aren't able to fabricate claims. Maybe it's just bad luck but you may wanna check if there is a problem.

3) Some children get uneducated trait even if they are educated. I don't know if it's feature or a bug.

4) Character attributes grows too easily. it's again relevant to op traits and some events.

That's all for now. I'll contribute after i play some more.

2) Female chancellors aren't able to fabricate claims. Maybe it's just bad luck but you may wanna check if there is a problem.

In events/job_chancellor.txt the character event with "# 913: The Chancellor fabricates a claim for his liege on a landed noble's title": there's a "only_men = yes". Seems like the "only_men" condition is in multiple other events as well...

Tool tip for option A on the current instance says "Earl Cadwgan: King Owain I's opinion of NO CHARACTER changed by -100. King Owain I and Earl Cadwgan become rivals."
Tool tip for option B is empty.

Limits seem screwy. Only for characters 6-11 who aren't prisoners (can under 16 even be a prisoner?), but potential friends/rivals must be 16-80; only for male, but there's a test for same sex female rival male/female. Seems to be trying to add in the rival/friend system from CK1, which added friend/rival from court if underaged, make friends with mentor if being trained, and friend/rival from neighboring rulers if mature.

Edit: Taking option A caused Earl Cadwgan's opinion of me to plummet, but didn't affect my opinion of them.

Edit 2: Also, after taking option A, the game kept switching focus to Firefox.

Edit 3: And kept switching focus back to Firefox after a save/quit and restart of CK2. Going to try a system reboot, if it keeps acting up I'm going to comment out the event and continue from last autosave.

Edit 4: Seems to be running okay after the reboot, and other friend/rival events fired for the underaged King Owain seemingly without problem. I might take a closer look at the various events later and see if I can fix up #180621.
