just a quick question, is it intended?

I just find that characters are either deeply hated or passionately loved, and it's fairly easy for all of the siblings to hate each other.

I have found a glitch, inherited from SWMH. To make the five or six "grandee duchies" (Cardona, Alba, Medinaceli, etc), you need to fulfull certain condition. For the Duchy of Cardona, two of those are redundant: to be of Iberian culture group, and to be of Catalan culture. Since Catalan is not of the Iberian culture group, it's impossible to create.

It's in an OR clause, so it should be working fine.

Hmmm, then there's some other thing going on that I haven't fulfilled yet.

Definitely something to think about. I already have a couple engines in the planning stage, I'll add this as well. Unfortunately I won't have much time to do any intensive work until school is over, so for the moment I'll think about a way to render it in-game.

It wouldn't need to be something "palpable". Maybe one of those circumstancial traits on women saying that they have created a Court of Love if they are learned enough, romantic enough or narcissistic enough. Depending on the woman, it would spread events of culture, songs and increase of prestige and learning, or events of bastardy. Some knights might appear, representing troubadours, that can work for you or against you, for your enemies, with events like "X has written a sirventes on you and now his jongleurs are spreading his filthy lies across the country!".

Also, it would need to be something focused on Occitan, Iberian (especially Catalan and Aragonese) and northern Italian culture (in a very broad sense; the Germans had a similar phenomenon, the Minnesänger, but they did not have this specific role of women and I think there are no Courts of Love in Germany).

Being a troubadour yourself (Like William of Aquitaine or King Alphonse the Troubadour), you could even have some events related to your works, or have a decision of "disgracing a rival by writing a sirventes" or honoring them by singing their glory.

Mixed together with a possible engine on the "Medieval Erasmus tour", where squires are assigned a master-at-arms, and young knights go away on a tournament tour across Europe, this can lead to actual relations between these turbulent youth and ladys holding courts of love. And then who knows? Heiresses kidnapped, bastard sons here and there, friends and enemies made...

It's a good idea, but I usually refrain from adding more traits as the mod already has many new ones. I'm probably going to need to define 3-4 basic situations, from which then this chain can evolve depending on where you want it to go. I'm going to need to read a bit about it so I can come up with ideas. For now I have some basic characters: the unwed lady, the lady with her husband not at court, and on the other side young unwed squires and knights. But I yet have to decide how this is all going to play together. I have a couple nice romance chains already, I might link those in as well.

Hello, I decided to try out this mod, right now, it seems to be unplayable to me. I am experiencing frequent ctd. Two in a single year, so it is hard to keep playing.

I had somewhat more success yesterday, which a single crash after 3 years, in the previous version. I would think the new version to be more stable, but apparently no so? Or maybe it is not save game compatible? The first page is vague on that matter. I thought it might be like CK2+ in which the patches are compatible as long as the first two numbers are the same, but I wonder if I am wrong?

I couldn't figure out how to upload and attach my error.log so I am just copy and pasting it here. Hope it is okay(if it is not, I will edit it out).

Those are all vanilla files so if they aren't usually in the log no matter what (the sound line I think is at least) it's probably a problem with your folder.

Please if you report any CTD give us a little more information than "the mod is crashing". At least the version of the mod, if you play with retinues (or without, and I mean the retinue file emptied) and if you have been playing the same version of the mod since the start of that savegame.

I wasn't sure which informations I should give. The crashing is completely random as far I can see. My mod version is the latest one, which I thought I made obvious in the second paragraph. And in the same paragraph, I did say it was not the same version of the mod (started with 2.1.1 and thought it might be savegame compatible). Playing with retinues. Why would I empty the file?

If there is some sort of protocol when reporting crashes, it would be a good idea to post them in the first post. All I see there is to attach the error.log, which I sort of did.

Those are all vanilla files so if they aren't usually in the log no matter what (the sound line I think is at least) it's probably a problem with your folder.

What do you mean? You say I have a bad install? I could try reinstalling, but I used to play CK2+ without issues.

Vanilla CK2 has a major CTD with retinues and republics. Since PI probably won't issue a fix before the new DLC it's getting reported again and again but there's nothing we can do about it other than advising to remove the retinues from the game.

No I don't think so. My money is on a recurring error in vanilla because those files are missing from the game and still referenced somewhere. It's just that those files don't have anything to do with the mod, they are all vanilla related.

Anyway the problem is with the retinues. I have completed three complete test runs in two days (that's something like 1200 years of mod running) and have not experienced a single crash.

Did this started with the 1.092 patch? Because I used to play 1.091 with CK2+ without issues.

I meant a bad vanilla install. It was working fine before, but maybe the 1.092 patch messed up somehow? You think if I reinstall the whole game it might work? (though I guess I will try removing the retinues first)

Thanks for all your help.

Ibid, would it be feasable to tone down the "blackmail when caught plotting" event somewhat, both in frequency and number of characters attempting the blackmail?

I wouldn't object if one or two characters would attempt to blackmail you into paying against the threat of revealing the plot to the target, but instead usually tend to come in packs of 5-8 characters. At -100 ducat for each cap this can easily ruin the player for a long time.
