I'm playing 2.1.1, I can't remember if I started in 2.1.0 or 2.1.1 and I play with retinues. I haven't noticed anything that would be the cause of the crash, but when it happens I can reload the last autosave (set to every six months) and continue just fine for a while.

You could disable patrician retinues if that's the problem (like Meneth did for Project Balance) as a temporary fix. Paradox will hopefully fix it in the next patch.

Well maybe we should have disabled them completely but it's kind of harsh to force the player not to use something the game is now designed to work with. Maybe we've put a bit too much trust in PI's support, but I think it's a first with them to knowingly leave the game with a major CTD bug for more than a month. Warning and informing people about that is kinda impossible right now with the single thread, plus repeating it again and again also contributes to the flood of information in here. Kind of a vicious circle if you ask me.

Playing without retinues, I have completely two 2.1.1 test games (not much interaction with the AI but that shouldn't change much to that specific problem) without a single CTD. So I'm more worried about CTDs occuring with the last version and disabled retinues.

Thanks for the quick reply. I think Paradox isnt doing subforum's after the Magna Mundi debacle.
How glad am I that I declined that job really. I think it's a shame how this reflected on other modders (not really the most honourable exit in history of gaming) but I'd blame DLCs more than MM and Ubik honestly.

Might I ask what precisely happened? I know MM was a wildly popular EU3 mod that was supposed to be made into a stand-alone game by P'dox, then cancelled. I keep hearing about it, but I never learned the details.

The cancelling announcement (because MMTG was still not ready after being delayed for several months) turned into a gigantic rant. Most people sided with PI against the team members who were blaming PI for having cancelled the game. To stay objective (because I dont think it's the place to discuss this), the argument made on MM side was that PI was shelving it because of EU4 and that they would just borrow all the good stuff from their game.

To sum up, as I understand from an outsider's position:

Magna Mundi the game was way over time and over budget, without noticeable improvement in stability or usability. Ubik [the team lead] continued to mandate new, more complicated features, rather than focusing on polishing and fixing what they already had (which was held together with glue and duct tape). Essentually, he was running a full game release, with an actual budget, like a modding hobby project. He maintained a build that 'only crashed once every 30 years or so' (as I recall, the number may have been higher or lower) was releasable. Paradox disagreed, and since they were not seeing significant improvement in the release candidates they were sent, terminated the project. Ubik blamed Paradox, said he'd fight them legally, made a bunch of vague threats, set up a forum where he had to personally approve every comment, then dropped off the face of the earth, with the forum shutting down, the twitter going quiet, and Ubik having not been heard from since. The members of the team that were not Ubik posted their own message, which I don't have the link to at present, which distanced them from him somewhat.

I see, thank you two.

Back to topic, I really think there should be some way to knight people as a female monarch. Historically, female monarchs were just as much the fount of honour as male rulers, and it's kind of annoying to have your sons educated by knights, then made squires, and not be able to knight them and marry them off.

Your message on female queens has made me think of something sorely lacking in this mod: Courts of Love.

Much mythicised as they have been, courts of love, the culture of fin'amors and courtly love was a reality of the nobility, born of several circumstances (like people being out crusading). Poems by troubadours describe a level of sexual freedom and debauchery that's hard to consider seriously, but thankfully their poetry is not the only witness we have left.

A circle of troubadours and jongleurs, a court of poets and singers and a retinue of young "pretenders" that compete to climb their lady's chamber in this parallel of the feudal pyramyd, that's a reality in the mid-XIIth until the late XIIIth Century (albeit the tradition becomes much more "pious" after the Albigensian Crusade and the spread of the Dominican Inquisition in Southern France), would appear with an event that signals the Dawn of Troubadours, and end (maybe) at 1300, or when the Pope launches a moral reform (Innocent III's all-powerful tentacles)... ant it's also something that would give women much more appeal and role.

So far, women don't do much except do some plotting from time to time. Which is a shame. Queens don't fill my ears with tales of distrust and mischieve concerning my trusted achancellor, Duchesses don't form parties of dashing young barons waiting for a prize at her service, and strong wives don't actually do much. Even when they're rulers themselves. You'd expect much more relations from a couple of married kings. A more intimate kind of diplomacy.

I realise how hard might it be to bring the right amount of gender interaction into the game, but well, I think it's worth trying.

It certainly sounds interesting (though I'm currently dying to make a quip about Showtime's The Tudors). I have always enjoyed the more active role consorts take in Muslim games, but it still felt rather more like playing Louis XVI than an actual mediaeval ruler. I'm currently imagining some kind of ambition or plot for landless females to seduce their liege and new lover events -- say, your mistress demands honours, estates, a title for her relations, something like that. I'd say that Troubadours, Minnesingers etc events could be handled similarly to the Jewish events and tied in to the musician and poet traits.

Please if you report any CTD give us a little more information than "the mod is crashing". At least the version of the mod, if you play with retinues (or without, and I mean the retinue file emptied) and if you have been playing the same version of the mod since the start of that savegame.

Apologies for the vagueness, but it fixed now

Definitely something to think about. I already have a couple engines in the planning stage, I'll add this as well. Unfortunately I won't have much time to do any intensive work until school is over, so for the moment I'll think about a way to render it in-game.

Are there updated events for muslim rulers? Also is this more balanced than vanilla? I ask because just about every vanilla 1066 game I play results in domination by Christian rulers due to lame duck muslim rulers (that can't deal with decadence).

Oh and is there any way to fix the titles that the berber leaders have (they are european).

The map looks incredible by the way.

Hi guys, i am currently downloading this mod and i have a question.
I've already played in the CK+ mod and it had jewish culture in it. But i was disappoint that it was too shallow. Like no special retinue for jews and zero jewish decisions like decision to sacrifice christian newborns and infants to make matzo with blood. Does this mod has something like that or jews just another coats of arms?
