Well, to the history of courtiers at war with their liege... Happens to me periodically, as randomly generated courtiers arrive and I then get a message like
" Andrew (or any other courtier) declared NO_TEXT_FOR_KEY war on me ( or any of my vassals)":huh:.
I don't know if I should see this as a bug or a feature.

The effect of that declaration of war is only a -30 "declared war" relationship malus, but well... what should one courtier do against a 1.000.000 soldiers strong empire?

Ha that's quite an excursus -) Although I may differ on some points, ie of many families used identical arms to the king - in HMA only established cadet branches or armigers in relation to royal house could do that on minor scale, eg in form of canton brochants, and this was supposed to be controlled by kings of arms. But interesting read nonetheless1.

But back to the point to answer my question - are you saying that these changes for generic coas shared by several houses will stay for good in new version?

I'm playing the latest version of TPTT and I'm experiencing weird functionality. Almost all my Feudal vassals are sending me negative tax income. -0.12/70 tax, for instance. The same thing with my Church vassals. Only my city vassals are sending me lots of money.

All my relationships with them are at 80-100. Is this working as designed -- some kind of feudal income nerf?

Edit: Did some thread searching and others have experienced this too. Bug, or an intended income nerf to keep the game balanced?

It depends on your laws as well.

I'm not sure I understand the College of Cardinals system. How and when do the related events fire? Is there some way to see a list of all the living cardinals?

There is no list. I think the description in the OP explains things fairly well.

When I started the game in 1073 as Castille, I saw that there were 12 holy orders. Less than three months into the game, there are no holy orders available. Is this a bug?

That's because in order to make those orders creatable later they need to be active at gamestart and then deactivated with a manteinance event very soon after you start the game.

I was wondering what the plans are currently regarding the next expansion. I think its safe to assume you plan on implementing it, and possibly already working on some aspects. But what I was particularly interested in regarding what a developer said about start dates, is this mod planning on doing a start only on the specific date the expansion starts or any day leading up to 1066?

Either way I was wondering also if the mod team would like any help, specifically with research. I've recently finished my dissertation and have an enormous amount of free time to waste (and access to a good uni library).

The misunderstanding probably comes from the fact that you want the codified late medieval heraldry when I'm trying to explain you what early medieval heraldry is about. Making the mod look like the latest starting bookmark is the only choice possible would be a terrible mistake imo because it's Crusader Kings and not Europa Universalis.

At some point if you feel that earlier history feels more generic, maybe the mod just isn't for you. We won't please everyone that's for sure (afterall 83% of all players prefer vanilla over mods) and since Idib made the choice of inviting me to team with him ... well it's only logical that my views on emblematics, which are very academic by essence, are applied everywhere in the mod.

While you're mentioning cadet branches and splits. Shouldn't the House of Burgundy be a branch of the House of France? This is something that always bugged me, they were descended from Hugues Capet as well, and the prerequisite that they had to be descended from Saint Louis to qualify only seems to have been done in the 18th century as a snub against the princes of Courtenay. I doubt they would have reigned in France as dukes of Burgundy anymore than Francis I reigned as Angouleme. Usually the splits like Valois or Orleans were mostly based on which estates they had gotten when some elder ancestor took the crown.

I think it's always the key at the top left corner of the keyboard. Just under the Esc key. What symbol on the key seems to vary quite a lot between different keyboards. Mine is `.

So today and yesterday I was playing the game and it CTD, frankly I thought we were passed this but I guess not.

Here my error logs:

Also I have still not seen this new Cardinal and Papal election system and that bugs me since I heard some good things about it from the creator, but it making think about this game more if some feature that are suppose to show up don't

And they are mostly a thing of nowadays academia.

By the way, devs: you probably need to nerf the Latin Emperor or make him more dependant on his vassals. Being one of the weakest and most troubled monarchs of the Middle Age, it makes little sense that he can summon tens and tens of thousands of men while trying to revoke my title, the Duke of Thessalonica, and that the other lords of the Empire are OK with that.

I think you should reduce drastically the amount of troops a lord can summon from his vassals. Depening on opinion, yes, but it's too easy to have most of your vassals at 100 if you have had a long reign.

This is one of the things that bug me the most about CK2 and no mod has redressed it so far. It's a major flaw, in my opinion, maybe the biggest one the game has. As the Holy Roman Emperor I can summon almost a hundred thousand men in order to revoke the coutny of Wettin. Come on, what's this, Victoria 2? If anything, the HREmperor would be able to recruit this amount of troops when going on crusade or defending against an external invasion. But the AI goes arrière-ban on everyone right from the start.

So, tu sum up: kings should be able to summon much less troops. Liege loyalists would provide most of his army, along with his own, but I'd try making it so only your loyalists and die-hard friends may send you a decent amount of troops, while the rest would send you as few as possible. 10, 20...

When Edward I went to wage war on Scotland, he summoned all his vassals. According to Contamine, very few of them came, and the king had to go on with a portion of his vassals' troops, who sometimes sent just some squires and their excuses for being sick, or came with their small retinues as if it was a hunting trip. When it comes to defeding the territory, that's another thing, but when attacking, unless it's a crusade, or a war against the infidel where there's much to be won... damn, they should send very small contingents, enough to make Otto von Braunschweig's army, the one that fought and lost at Bouvines, very small and composed mainly of Dutchmen, Lorrainians and Flemings; the ones interested in the war and its outcome.

Anyway, the best mod I've tried so far!

Some suggestions:

Maybe you'd like to revisit the feast messages of conflict...? The vanilla ones are quite childish. "I hate this man because he refused to drink more wine! Insulting! Humpf hrumpf grumpf..." or "He stabbed my servant for spilling the wine on his vest! Outrageous!". What about actual politics? The game knows when someone covets some other guy's duchy or county. Let's play with that. Make two people that actually have reasons to hate each other, hate each other! And fight, or insult one another and force you to take sides. One of the best things in CK1's social dynamism was that usually the game forced you to take sides in these kinds of feasts and tourneys.

As a side effect: the rivals and friends mechanics are very left aside, when they should be central to the whole political simulation. Friends that would be made either at early age or during tourneys and battles.

What about the life of wandering of a young knight? You don't see much of that. It was quite a phenomenon during William Marshal and Henry the Young King's lives. It seems a large amount of young noblemen roamed the Continent east of the Rhine and north of the Loire in bands, much like football teams today, sponsored by powerful lords isntead of Arab sheiks and Russian gas magnates. As a father, you could let your son go in this kind of Medieval "tournament Erasmus", and while paying for his manutention, you'd hear of his deeds (or misdeeds, glory or shame) and he might even find a good wive while roaming the land with his knightly homies. You could also forbid him to go and have him decide if he wants to obey or not. There he might make friends and rivals from all over Western Europe, and develop skills or loose an eye, or even die, but a lot of knights died in tournament, as much as in war, at least before 1250.

I have actually given a lot of thought to this chance. It's better than having your son asking for land every two years, and it's probably what he'd like to most. Arnold of Guines, the famous knight of William Marshal's time, met his wife this way, while travelling all over France from tourney to tourney, meeting her druing a tournament and abducting her later.

Kidnapping heiresses or betrothed girls is also a cool feature and might end up in casus belli, but that's another matter.

I was curious, I am trying to create the Kingdom of Ireland as a Norse Jarl (son of Jarl Gudrod of the Isles). I have 9/16 Irish counties and 4 duke-level titles. I also have the required gold and piety yet I still can't create it.

Is there something i'm missing?
