short name makes the kingdom name be exactly what you put in the localisation file. Normally, England gets complemented by "Kingdom of". But in the case of the Holy Roman Empire, it doesn't say "Kaiser of the Empire of Holy Roman Empire", it says "Kaiser of Holy Roman Empire".

I'm having some problems with the landed_titles file. I'd like to ask why does it mess up the heraldry if I change even one line in that file. I'm very annoyed with all the "Englaland" and "Anglietèrre", so I want to take it away. Or I want to add more Welsh exonyms. But whenever I add one line following the pattern of other paragraphs, bam! Heraldry gets messed up. I got Bar in England, etc.

Please note that it worked like a charm before I changed that single line (concretely, it's the pack of English exonyms, but any other change also messes it up, as if the file could not be altered). And even when I delete the altered landed_filed.txt and replace it with the backup file, it still doesn't work.

I'd like some clarification of the matter because every time I decide to check if the source of the problem is this or that, I have to reinstall the whole mod, and add again my own modifications (which are only flags, names in the culture files and localisation updates, none of this has never messed anything up).

Thanks for the time.
You should delete the log files before starting the game up again. They are in Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings II\The Prince and the Thane. Just delete everything in there and that should sort out this issue I believe.

edit: and what do these two lines do:
short_name = yes
name_tier = king
i mean, the tier thing makes me think it will be a kingdom, not an empire, and im not sure what the short name does...

thanks in advance for any response
Name_tier = king means that the title will be called king ingame, it will still be at empire level, though.

Don't mind the complainers Solo, I was going to respond to that post as well, since he linked your explanation right before asking the same question you had just answered but it was 4am (my time) and didn't want to bother. I say stick with it and ignore the questions. I've found that overhaul mods get tons of pages of questions of this and that and it's hard to filter out all the 'noise' when the pages of responses add up. Keep up the great work :)

Well when complains pile up about the same thing you gotta do something if you want to keep people happy!!

Still he gave his explanation and even if I don't agree completely (this wasn't my post, mine was before that one and I got a really good explanatory answer so thanks to Solo) I accept it because it had strong arguments.

EDIT: besides I don't know you so I can't judge yet, but to give an answer like this I hope you are on the TPTT team/worked on the mod/did yourself serious modding work/or know Solo_Adhémar more than just by praising his work otherwise I'll see your post as bad trolling.

Oh I forgot to mention, absolutely amazing work done on this mod! I remember playing one of the earlier releases of this and it's great to see how far this it's come. It may even replace CK2+ as my go-to mod :)

No I'm not on the team, although I did help Idib with some graphical work before RL prevented me from continuing last year and have played this mod/followed its progress since May last year, but I wasn't referring to your post but defending Solo after he answered the same question multiple times. I was also impressed with his answer to your post (yes I read your post as well) as it did have very strong arguments, but that mattered not when the post I was referring to quoted this and still ignored what Solo was saying.

But none of this matters, I don't speak for Solo, Idib, or the team working on P&T, I'm just a fan who enjoys this mod and wants it to continue and succeed. So think what you will of me, I'll simply follow my own advice and not fan the flames from now on.

Thanks for the answer but it didn't work. I also deleted the flagfiles log, but no luck anyway. Time to reinstall the mod again!

The mangled CoAs, by the way, are all the same always. England changed CoA with Bari, for instance. Always this thing happens. Something's tied with the landed_files file and it can't be changed, or else my computer has gone bananas.

@Tarridus and Cesar. It's nice to have some support, thanks guys.

@Denizou. I'm really not trying to get on anyone's nerves but you can't expect me not to mod naming patterns and graphics otherwise I just shouldn't be doing any modding at all (I'm used to have some extreme reactions anyway, anyone having followed MEIOU while I was screwing with the mod's appearance knows what I'm speaking of). It's the most noticeable part of what I do and to be honest I came too late to the CK2 party for map modding anyway (on a side note, we'll be using the new SWMH map in the next update although for now it's not even functionnal yet).

Maybe it's time I make a case in the wish list thread although I doubt the devs will pay any attention to modding suggestions. But if we could just have two things : dynastic/individual name split which would just need to be an option the same as exonyms and allow culture change for dynastic names at the same time (name = "Monferrato", italian = "di Monferrato", frankish = "de Montferrat" to take a concrete historical example). Also predefined emblems for non christians in landed titles (it's even allowed and moddable in the savegames, why prevent doing it where it would actually be very useful ?), would solve a good number of problems, including some they will have in Old Gods because pagan rulers using christian emblems will feel much more awkward when they actually expand (not to say even more ridiculous than the whole anachronism that goes with it).

Aquitaine is definitely a glitch, it should be occitan of course.

Cesar I think you'll like the next update, I've finally crossed the additionnal catalan dynasties off my to-do list.

Has it been updated to the latest patch? I see that CK II is at 1.09, and P&T is at 2.0.6. (Forgive me if this is a stupid question. I assure you, I did check the thread before posting.)

Yes, it is updated.

Idib, I believe I found a crash, if a battle event(the Victory is not ours yet! ones) fires at the same time as a duel, and you lose the duel by dieing, then clicking an option for the battle event will cause a CTD.

@Tarridus and Cesar. It's nice to have some support, thanks guys.

You deserve it.

Cesar I think you'll like the next update, I've finally crossed the additionnal catalan dynasties off my to-do list.

It's always nice to have more Catalan dynasties to fill up my court. Pity they're not there at game start. I think I'll try to put in some Cardonas, some Montcadas, Cervelló and Rocabertins at game start, to have them going around.

By the way, I see two problems in Occitania: the first one is a high number of French names. The Occitan names list also consists of French names. The second is that the title of Duke of Narbona overshadows the County of Toulouse all the time. And since the Counts of Toulouse always referred to themselves as Counts of Toulouse...

That file should be easily changeable without that causing any problems.
Make sure you don't remove or displace any brackets.

What kind of changes have you made?

I did the test. All I changed was taking out the "English=Englaland" part. Blam! Messy heraldry again. It's really a strange thing, I reckon that if I did change some brackets, etc, it would not work. But it would not mess the heraldry up.

It's the only noticeable error I can see, messy heraldry. The rest, it all works fine. I'm also finding very odd that I'm the only one that had this thing.

Maybe my computer did really get dumb a week ago.

A quick comment after having finally tried 2.06.
Awesome new UI concept !
But why are original dynasties CoAs so lack diversity compared to previous versions (e.g. 1.911)? Like Komnenos and Jimenas in Spain have now same placeholder CoA. IS it still WIP ?

You could just put English = "England" instead (even the missing quote marks can mess things iirc).

The problem, and that I know better than probably anyone on these forums (my GF at university was a specialist of medieval occitan) is that most medieval vernacular forms for occitan proper names (including a good part of the first names) are completely lost. All modern forms are useless because the language was recodified by Mistral in the late 19th century discarding all previous etimology. The modern names for all kind of places will follow that pattern and thus have nothing to do with the original names and since many cities were renamed during the french revolution ...

That's the reason why I'll take down all localization in the occitan and francoprovençal counties (we agreed on taking down most unecessary or in that case inaccurate endonyms, and anyway forms like "Angliétèrre" have nothing to do with medieval history), because it's just gibberish and the characters and places are better off using modern french because it's easier to make things accurate (by not trying to occitanize names that never existed in the middle ages). Paradox thinks that "Robèrt" is more authentic medieval than "Robert" but the latter is actually the medieval form and the former is just an anachronism.

I fixed the thing with the counts of Toulouse. It's not so much about the duke of Narbonne because they were known by that title in Provence (in the contemporary acts I mean) but because it's more academic of course (they are traditionnaly refered as dukes of Narbonne or marquess of Provence only in a context specifically referring to those titles), plus I need some variety in the emblems (there are enough bosonid crosses already).
