You discover a fountain that generates odd, unidentifiable gold coins. This seems like a wondrous boon, until terrible things start happening to you...

A flavor/RP-geared mod, heavily event-driven, for those who like playing with fire. As it stands, with a little bit of RNG luck, you can expect to live 5 or so years once you get this. You get opportunities to back out, but there is a cut-off point in which you're locked into death. Mainly used as a way to learn CK2 modding (and still a long way to go!). Fair warning, if you go poking around at the scripting it'll be pretty messy.

I'm not done with the mod, it's just reached a functional stage. I have plans to add more content (including things that might not make sense as I force myself to learn more stuff).

Non-curse version: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/mod-the-endless-fountain.1026245/

Type: flavor/RP (may seem a little bit like a cheat to some)
Version Compatability: 2.7+ (not tested below)
Mod Compatability: shouldn't conflict with much, as it only uses vanilla assets and those that I created
DLC Compatability: anything or none should be fine
MP Compatability: should work, did my best to limit events/traits so only one player can have the fountain at a time. It can be 'thrown out' by players and picked up by others.
Activation: event should fire at startup, and whenever a different character inherits.

Details
-Event fires when eligible character reaches maturity letting them know the fountain exists
-After this event, decision becomes available when you get 100 gold.
-Fountain trait gives a bunch of gold/month, though others will be envious
-Fountain offers gifts at random intervals, eventually if you keep taking them you will be cursed.
-3 different curses so far, all are pretty terrible :/
Curse of Age, Curse of Jealousy, and my favorite, Curse of Decay
-CAN be inherited (but not by children)

Tools used (all free):
GIMP (https://www.gimp.org/downloads/)
Notepad++ (https://notepad-plus-plus.org/)
CK2 Validator (https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/597480)

Future plans:
Chronicles
Moar plots
Blood curse >:D
Minor curses for friends/family
More/better factoring
Society stuff (far, FAR future lol)

I don't know if you intend to expand on it, but I'd say it be even more interesting to have a "middle version" between this and the cheat one. I'm thinking on something along the lines of this: Instead of getting random gifts from the fountain, you would take a decision to harvest gold from the fountain. Each time you do so you get a chance to get/advance one of the courses, with the chance being higher with how many times have you already harvested it.

That's not a bad idea. Curse-lite lol. Makes me think maybe giving the player the opportunity to not accept the 'gifts', but to still keep the fountain. Would have to make some repercussions to that, but a decision-based version could be better. I mean, it would be more along the lines of my original idea of willingly cursing yourself. I'll definitely think on it, thanks for the suggestion!

I look at the screenshots, and I immediately think/realise: "This is literal Blood Money: it's draining you to make the gold." You could make events around this sort of thing-that realisation, and what happens afterward, because think of handing this off to some no-name and inheriting his gold later, if you were so inclined? Or as an 'honourary' title. Like, this could twist up an entire realm around this thing.

"You keep half the gold it generates. You'll live as a king....for about 5 years."

More people than you'd think would take that. Especially if it means everyone else pays less taxes.

"That realm is cursed. The wealth it has is built on the sacrifice of it's people to dark powers."
