I honestly couldn't imagine playing CK2 without this mod. Really grateful for all the work done here. :)

Can't wait to see Persia and Central Asia redone. Hope new ethnicities will be added, to help spice up the region.

One general question, is there any particular reason, why most duchies lack a scripted capital province or culture. I'll admit in some cases capitals are hard to define for this period, not mention what a capital actually means in this period. The place where the monarch resides does not need to correspond with the place, where the Diet/Estates/Parliament etc. has their sessions. It also applies to province culture, some provinces already changed culturally between 867 and 1066, which left them with the latter culture for most of the game.

In my own personalized version, I did try to do so and I did add both; but admittedly sometimes it was just based on counties and duchies having the same name, especially in areas, which I don't know too well.

Maybe it's a stupid question: are the 2.75 version savegames compatible with 2.85 version game?
Anyway, great mod, I had plenty of fun so far, and PLEASE, i beg you, make it compatible with EUIV Converter!:sad::sad:
TBH, I don't know. But due to quite a lot of new provinces in central and eastern parts of Africa and some new cultures being added there, it might make some mess.

Concerning the converter - it would first require that some of us would actually buy and play EU4.... I won't be the one until I buy a new computer where the game would run.
I honestly couldn't imagine playing CK2 without this mod. Really grateful for all the work done here. :)

Thanks. So I am I - concerning Persia and CentralAsia update. :) So much that it even drives me off an Ethiopian update.
But then I just look at some test games and see that while Nubians easily defend against egyptian aggression, Ethiopia is still being conquered by the Arabs from Yemen and I realize that Ethiopian overhaul really is desperately needed.

I love this mod it adds a lot to the game. Only problem I have is there never seems to be a crusade called. I started a game in 1066 and have played to 1150. There has yet to be a crusade called. Any idea why? Is that by design?

That's just ill luck. I've seen multiple crusades and jihads in my 1066 start.

It doesn't work at all, unortunately. From Steam, can I download the game and manually update it to the version compatible with v. 2.75? Because I loved the story, beyond the mere savegame.:blush:

A lot of East African rulers of various cultures and positions seem to be using RAI'S (the allcaps is in the game) as their title, and I am pretty sure that's not intended? Also, Dugawa has no localization in the Anglicized mod.

Hey, thanks for the great mod. I want to report a small bug in the map: Kolomna county (in Grand Duchy of Vladimir) is mistakenly set to border (over Volga) Suzdal and Rostov. As a result, armies magically teleport across the map. I think this should be removed and instead, Suzdal should have a Volga crossing to Kostroma.

A suggestion for the Sahara: Add a province modifier that lowers supply, tax, and levies. It helps stop them from becoming too powerful though it is worth noting that without CB restrictions the levy nerf might make them too vulnerable so for SWMH alone it might not be a good idea.

In PB+SWMH I'm adding a modifier like this:
Code:
sahara = {
    icon = 31
    supply_limit = -4
    local_tax_modifier = -0.25
    levy_size = -0.5
}

And added by event like so:
Code:
any_independent_ruler = {
    any_realm_province = {
        limit = { continent = region_sahara }
        add_province_modifier = { name = sahara duration = -1 }
    }
}

Crackd also had a decent idea: Only use the desert terrain type in the Sahara itself (and the Syrian desert, I'd argue). That'll allow setting lower supply directly, and even increase movement times across those areas.

Crackd also had a decent idea: Only use the desert terrain type in the Sahara itself (and the Syrian desert, I'd argue). That'll allow setting lower supply directly, and even increase movement times across those areas.

To expand on the reasoning behind the suggestion (for people not wanting to go between two threads), my suggestion was to make only the Sahara desert provinces actually desert, and all other desert "Steppe," because all of the other actual deserts (Rub al-Khali, Dasht-i-Kavir, Ustyurt, etc.) are one of the following:

  • Impassable provinces
  • Close enough to sedentary areas that you could argue they aren't as "harsh" since there are some resources available (Especially since a lot of current desert was more agricultural before the Mongols wiped whole civilizations out)
  • Small enough in size that traveling through them would not be as much of a tax on resources (since CKII does not model supply chains/logistics)
This would let the Sahara be muuuuch harsher than it would be normally. And, it could help curb trans-Saharan empires, which really would not have been remotely feasible during the time-frame of the game (even up until the early pre-Modern period).

The map projection really shrinks the Sahara and in reality, it is much bigger than is currently shown. The small task of traveling through other deserts, while harsh, would have been nothing compared to trans-Sahara travel. That type of travel took months, was extraordinarily dangerous, and modeled poorly in-game.

Unless you guys can and want to create a whole new terrain type for the Sahara, I think it's a good idea.

I like it. Anything to curb, Hammadid, Zirid, Almoravid and Fatimid shennanigans

[SWMH+PB(+factions)+Cultural Portraits]

Since you are a part of SWMH team, I will also drop SWMH-related things here

-County of El Fasher has wrong positions configured, any unit in El Fasher appears to be in nearby Bayuda Desert
-Units in county of Sennar appear to be in nearby county of Wolqayt
-Central african (Hausa, Kanem etc) religious building has the icon of a western european church
-Sunni&Myaphysites dont have a religious head. Myaphysite Papacy isn't even defined in files for PB+SWMH.

-Tooltip on Absolute Cognatic succession says that it requires....Absolute Cognatic succession. Although it doesn't, so just a tooltip error?
-Violate the Baqt is available to central africans as well, even though they are not Miaphysite.
The religious buildings in central Africa are known issue, though I don't know how to solve it, yet.
The positions will be fixed, thanks!

Others are not touched in SWMH and therefore I believe they are not SWMH issues.

@Meneth, @CrackdToothGrin, @king - the Sahara suggestion.
The ideas are great. And they do go in the direction I am considering how to solve this issue. There was a plan to add special terrain type for the Sahara, but for now has been postponed. Originaly I wanted to include it in the first african release, but the amount of work was so overwhelming that it is not done and not even solved (dicsussed enough) yet.
I know that things progress very slowly and you want to have them solved as soon as possible, especially Meneth, who does his own balancing based on this unsolved Sahara thing. but... you all know what still lies ahead of us and it's hard to prioritize... especially with so little time left for modding RL gives us.

It would be easiest for me/us just to take what you have done, but I havethis damned nature that I prefer to get things done by myself.

I would like to have Saharan setu where it would be extremely high to pass it for 90% armies, but where the desert nomads would be able to move larger armies with lower attrition... and where these nomadic desert tribes(cultures) would have bonus in battles.
In fact that is one of the reason of the Sanhaja split into 2 cultures Sanhaja and Tagelmust, where Sanhaja are (planned to be) sedentary Sanhaja with no desert/Saharan bonus, while Tagelmust are (planned to be) nomadic Sanhaja with this bonus (which should be also given to Tuareg, Zanata and Badawi cultures. Possibly also Zaghawa).
That's the plan, now what is the priority? Propper Sahara or finnished Ethiopia?

A lot of East African rulers of various cultures and positions seem to be using RAI'S (the allcaps is in the game) as their title, and I am pretty sure that's not intended? Also, Dugawa has no localization in the Anglicized mod.
Thanks. It is already a known issue and I am looking for a solution.

I've made a navigable Red Sea and Indian Ocean for SWMH. May I upload it?
I don't think so, not until Aasmul gives you greenlight.

There's no rush. I know first-hand how difficult it can be to get everything you want to do done; one only has time and energy for so much.

I don't think so, not until Aasmul gives you greenlight.
Any idea when Aasmul might get back? I haven't heard from him in about two weeks now.

He, like the rest of the team, is currently quite busy in RL. Not sure when he'll be beck, hopefully soon
