I have more hours logged on HBS BattleTech than on any other game I have logged time on (600 hours).

I played vanilla and then career mode, and then BTA 3062 last year. I eventually quit out halfway through that game, because it seemed to be moving to more and more RNG-based mechanics (nerfing called shot was the final straw). I just can't be dealing with anything that just makes more RNG. (On top of being so loaded that you can't save in mission). I was so disheartened by that change, I haven't touched the game since February. (I also was not a fan of their approach to clan tech.)

RogueTech looks like it would be more of the same, but a slightly different and now-more divergeant take. Possibly with better clantech, I don't know.

I just looked at Hyades Rim, which I had heard some good things about, but on looking it up just now... it seems to be another one where the difficulty gets spiked up. (Immediately put off by stated low maximum tonnages, sticking on the Leopard and it saying there is high mandatory pilot turn-over.)

So then. Leaving those aside, ARE there any other mods which just, like, add a load of new toys to play with without ramping the difficulty up significantly? (Vanilla's difficulty was perfectly fine for me.) I appreciate this is likely a vain hope, as likely almost by definition, anyone spending the time to add More Stuff is likely to be wanting to Make It Harder, but figured it's worth a shot.

I do not use any major mods myself ( well I tried one but it kicked my butt )
But - Battletech Extended 3025 - came highly recommended as it supposedly does not up the difficulty level while adding lots of goodies

Ta. Looking into that to start with when I come back to HBSBT, though I shall try and press on with Imperator first...
