Ever felt that Habitats were too expensive for your overpopulated, credit-short and possibly food-short empire? That you wanted to fortify that one choke point that had a big gas giant, a lot of moons, but no habitable worlds?
I was kind of stumped on this too, but then, I had an idea.
Two months, a crashed graphics card (unrelated, but it sure delayed me until the new one got here), and a lot of hard work later, I finished what I humbly consider to be a very useful mod- Stellar Ignition.
After taking the Stellar Ignition ascension perk, you can build a Stellar Igniter Staging Area around a gas giant of sufficient size. When the Stellar Igniter is constructed, 5000 minerals later, every moon around that world will become nominally habitable.
In particular, they become Pre-Teraformed Worlds- noxious soups of organic compounds that, in the hands of skilled teraforming engineers (such as those from the Blue Sun Corporation
), can be quickly and cheaply converted into whatever type of world you desire.
