Incredible! Crisis of the Confederation proved that epic space operas are not just possible, but also a great addition to the CK2 modding scene, and to have the greatest space opera of all time here is very exciting. Good luck to the team!

EDIT: Counties as planets? What if, counties are star systems instead, the baronies are planets (like COTC) and the cities, factories, refineries, bases etc are building upgrades? The Star Wars's galaxy is so massive, i have no clue how you'll fit it all in the map. Based on the work we have seen so far i trust you'll do a marvelous job nevertheless.

I agree with Enriador and others, it would be better to have the systems as counties. There would be some problems like Trandoshans and Wookiees living in the same system but overall the mod would probably benefit from it.

I understand the concern, and yes I am using Galle's COTC map. I have had issues so far "fitting" in all of the planets I want to and this has led to a few planets being in a duchy (system) they don't belong. But so far I believe the County = Planet is the best way to do it especially as some species (cultures) are only located primarily on a single planet, therefore aside from editing cultural drift situations and events/decisions I also have put a strong effort into ensuring that many important species homeworlds are represented. (Duros, Ando, Naboo, Alsakan, Shili, Kashyyyk, Geonosis, Rodia, Ryloth etc)

I also feel that the baronies as planets makes it feel less personal, if you are the leader of a planet it is quite an "impersonal" concept already, because that entire planet is now represented by simply it's holder and a few barony level leaders, having baronies as planets and duchies as systems would escalate that situation a lot.

Will dark side/light side affiliation go under the category of religion or will they be traits?

I was wondering this as well. I've done star wars mods theoretically in my head for CK2 before, and I've always concluded that light and dark sides should be heresies of one another.

Though in the mechanics of this mod it seems traits would work better, given the way being force sensitive works. Your average governor at random planet x typically doesn't care about the whole Force thing.

Great initiative!

Some imput and criticism:

-I'd also advise a retweak of the UI aesthetics. Also, probably making more spavmce cor traits would be wise.

-Are you sricking with CotC map onthe long run, or only dor starters? It seems orettt weitd to have a far far away galaxy represented as a part of the Milky way. Specially when the lifting of detail level from planet to subplanetary level.

-If each planet is a county, how are tou handling travel between planets within the same sector? I would advice having each sector as a solid custer of provinces, connected by "land". Then have the "closer" system connected by straits and let fleets travel hyperspace/FTL travel.

-Your descriptions of religions seems quite more fiyting for governments, at least at fiesy glance.

-I'm not into lore beyond the films, but if the jedi are their own religion and the republic is a second religion, doesn't that sort of undermine the relationship between the two pf them? As in, having one controlling the holy aites of the other reducing moral authority, for wxample. Also, I'm not sure that you can handle cardinal title by event sothat might be a complication for jedi handling.

In any case, very good luck woth this enterprise!

If religion <=> ideology, you could have separatists / republican / imperialist etc... characters inside a Galactic Republic government.
But not really sure how it would work for the holy sites.

Also, I'm not sure that you can handle cardinal title by event sothat might be a complication for jedi handling

I confirm you can't, at least not via give_minor_title :/

Question: What eras are you planning, or are you using any particular era at all? Star Wars has a serious blobbing problem where almost every era is defined by two or three mega-blobs (traditionally the good guys, the bad guys, and the Hutts, with sometimes the Mandalorians also - that's barely enough major factions for a Mount and Blade mod and like a third as many as you want for CK2) and a dozen or so tiny one-system or often enough even one-planet third parties. The only exception I can think of is the immediate aftermath of RotJ in the old EU, when the Empire balkanized.

Another question: If you're going to have multiple eras, will they be within a reasonable timeframe of one another? Canonically, only the 150 years or so from the Clone Wars to the end of the old EU happened on anything approaching a workable scale, while the distance between TOR and the PT is long enough to fit a complete CK-HoI playthrough within, without one single major event on the timeline to use as a bookmark in between.

Personally I would recommend serious canon-overhauling to limit the power of the major blobs in eras like the Old Sith Wars, Great Galactic War, and Clone Wars, boosting the influence of third parties, and compressing the timeline down to somewhere in the range of CK2's seven centuries.

The OP said that the mod will be starting around the time of the New Sith Wars, when the Republic's authority was fractured and the Sith became a rising force on the galactic stage again. Since the Sith tend to naturally balkanize themselves, it should mean there'll be plenty of polities to work with in the game.

Will it be possible to have Sith as religion without being force-sensitive? I'm thinking of subjects to the Sith, maybe Sith Lord can be a trait?
