No to both of the above.
We tried making Borg always hostile but it messes up their behaviour.
No to changing species to Borg itself for assimilated races too. Not needed with how the clothing changes work, and would break a bunch of things.
Yeah, they were for the most part just thoughts.
Also, a curiosity, and maybe I misread or misinterpreted the tech, but are the Borg supposed to have tech that gives them access to deep space outpost stuff? Also, any plans to change the expansion tradition tree for the Borg? (unless Unimatrixes are meant to be the Deep space outpost equivalent)
Well, we have the quadrant indicator on the start notes for each species.
So, in prep for Machinery stuff today, figured it'd be cool to add a few new variants to the Borg prosthetics available to drones. Not a huge change, but expect a few more additions over the next few patchs:
Yeah, in the race description there is both a difficulty measure and a statement of where they are starting out.
And also, that's pretty cool!~
As an aside, do the Borg eventually get destroyers? I've seen in the tech tree slots that are supposedly meant for destroyers but I haven't seen anything for a destroyer class, unless that's meant for something to be added later (like say maybe the Borg Pyramid from SFC 3)
There was something else I was going to ask, but for the life of me can't remember in the slightest. Maybe it'll come back up later. Oh! Not what I was thinking of, but in case I missed it, was there ever a response to the idea of Federation members petitioning to make colonies event thingy? It'd be especially cool for any of the races that are 'minor' and don't expand so when they join it's just their one world (and since I see so little migration in Fed games it would at least allow more options there.)
Also, for anyone else playing the Borg, I have good news!
Playing as the Borg is now something I have nailed down, and done so in part by sort of ignoring at least some prior advice. You don't need to build ANY additional probes... in fact, your first priority should be researching Sphere's and then building one. Then you can start getting your infrastructure going. Following that, you absolutely must, MUST research the tech that gives the Borg their regenerative hull things (can't remember it's name, but it's the Borg equivalent of shields). I also highly recommend installing the components that give extra hull points, because that has helped so much for my ships survivability.
And on a final note, I had the Planet Killer pop up in my space, really close to my Capital while I was finishing off the Talaxians. scared the shit out of me and made me pull my full fleet back. 4 diamonds, ten spheres and two probes (varied models for the spheres and diamonds) and had a total force power of about 30k.
I took no loses against the planet killer. Killed it and reaped the rewards with no loses. To say it has been the highlight of my playthrough so far is an understatement.
Now, onto something else that I just recalled having mentioned that monstrosity. In the Devore Imperium, I have found both a Science Nexus and the Sentry array megastructures. Are they just random spawns, meant to be there, or is there even tech to repair them? Because if they CAN be repaired, then I know who my next target is.
oh, and loved the Kazon civil war stuff. Was fun watching them beat on each other. Also, what's the button to take a political map pic of the galaxy, or is there one?
