Quite a cool mod, mate. :) Kind of sad it's not gotten the "credit" it deserves though, heh. I noticed one minor thing anyway: The scottish culture that erupts eventually is called "Scots" rather than "Scot", or something. "Scots" sort of sounds wierd for me since it makes it sound as if in pural. :p I suppose this is how it's meant to be, but heh.

Very kind of you to say, and I hope you're enjoying it.

To address your point -- I can't really be bothered to do big opening posts with lots of bullet points and bright fonts. If people wish to try this mod, there is a link to it in my sig and I provide a full change log and have always been happy to answer any questions or take on board any suggestions. Thankfully I have a dedicated group of players, though for reasons unbeknownst to me they prefer to contact me via PM.:p (There's also an AAR in the works).

I have had some good feedback for v0.7 in particular, so hopefully I will with 0.8 as more people try it. Obviously I like to think each successive version of the mod is the best so far!

Scots is the correct term by the way -- it denotes the language, currency, laws and culture of Scotland. For example you'd say 'Scots Gaelic' or 'Lowland Scots' as opposed to Scottish.

I am enjoying it, thank you. :p Yeah, I sort of guessed that "Scots" was actually correct, despite sounding incorrect to me. But hey, I'll get used to it. :) Good luck with the mod, anyhow! Let's hope you get even further success. ^^

Thanks. I trust you're playing 0.8b by the way. :D

I should probably remove links to older versions so there's no room for confusion (I do have a backup of every version for saved games/AARs though).

Of course, playing 0.8b. I have to admit that I almost missed it though, earlier. So yes, updating the main post could be a good idea. :)

I like your mod, but does it fix crusades so there's independent crusader kingdoms? Also I (and I think everyone else) really hate the color change to Brittany. It's completely unnecessary, please change back.

holy crap you just joined in feb and already that rank and 1200 posties wtf :O

I will try to improve crusades for 0.9 -- please let me know of any suggestions you have.

At present I've protected Nubians (Ethiopians and Monophysites) by making it so holy wars and Jihads can not be called against them. So the Shiite Caliphate can still invade Nubia to reclaim its de jure Egyptian duchy but after that will need proper CBs in order to attack Ethiopia.

What sort of independent crusader kingdoms were you thinking of? Jerusalem can still be created (it's just a titular kingdom now instead of de jure) and I still see Antioch, Edessa and Tripoli become independent crusader duchies from time to time. Let me know your thoughts.

As for Brittany, I changed its color (and actually gave Brittany's to Normandy) because it's now part of a different kingdom along with Cornwall, and I wanted them to be similar shades (which I try to do with all kingdoms).

I dig the colour changes, mate. Especially the one for Lithuania. :)
Thanks. :)

Yeah I think Poland and Lithuania look better with similar color schemes; I think I stole Lithuania's color from Finland and gave Finland a darker green but I can't remember now. For 0.8c I will try and change a lot more duchy colors to match their respective kingdoms. I've already given Cornwall a slightly softer pastel shade, so it looks less like Brittany but is different enough from Gloucester so you'd know it wasn't in the same kingdom. I've also moved Hereford back to Wales as I've had a request by PM to do so (from the guy working on the Welsh AAR) and I do kind of like the Welsh marches being de jure Wales -- they can become de jure England anyway after a century.

I'll possibly change Scotland's color to yellow and rework its duchies accordingly. I've been meaning to do that for a while. I know Armenia needs doing too, as its duchies are Muslim shades of green. I will give Epirus, Nicaea, Trebizond and Armenia different color schemes I think. :)

How do you justify the merging of Scottish/Irish culture ? I think having Irish, Scottish, Welsh and Breton culture part of the Gaelic group was good. Maybe you could rather divide scottish into Scottish (gaelic) and Scots (west germanic), but that might be confusing. Well less than merging irish and scottish altogether.

Only things that bugs me with vanilla is the "foreign culture" malus you get for vassalization (and probably other things) for cultures within the same culture group. It should be easier Welsh king to vassalize a Breton lord, than for a French king to vassalize a breton lord (both are more or less impossible right now anyway, which is kinda stupid).

This is what I had before; I prefer the current system and from my own research and what others have told me, the differences between Scots Gaelic and Irish Gaelic during this period would have been negligible. The current setup whereby Gaelic represents a mix of Scots, Irish and Norse culture seems to work quite well in my opinion, and then having Scots culture come about later on as part of the West Germanic group means there's representation of the Lowland-Highland cultural divide in Scotland. It's also a useful way of keeping check on the relations between later, post-Norman English and Scots rulers as opposed to earlier Gaelic chieftans

If I knew how to modify this I would definitely do so. I still think there ought to be a negative opinion for inter-cultural relationships (such as an Occitan count having a Frankish liege) but I agree that it should not be as harsh as that between totally different culture groups.

So to show the results of the reworked Baltic Pagans introduced in 0.7c (or at least one example) here's an AI titular kingdom of Pomerania in 0.8c:

YAG5H.jpg

The date is around 1130 IIRC (I forgot to check) and Pomerania and a few of her eastern neighbors have survived a couple of Imperial holy wars. I'm not sure when the kingdom was formed, but the king (he's the first, I checked the title history) is duke of Pomerania and Mecklenburg.

That's fine but I don't even know what SoH stands for nor is it anywhere in the mod/thread/sig. Some basic level of 'the title of the mod is x and this is the general gist of my goals' would have made me do more than just try to figure out what this mod is then give up and move on and doesn't require bullet points or bright fonts.

Oh I thought you would name the mod after what it does, never thought you would just name it after yourself, didn't even look at your name. Don't think I've ever seen anyone name a mod after themselves directly, but it is in keeping with your arrogant attitude so I should have thought of that, granted.

I only pointed out that I don't know the name of the mod assuming that it would tell me something (anything) about the mod. Since it doesn't, it's irrelevant to the general point of "nobody reading this thread has a clue what this mod does".

I would not describe my attitude as arrogant, and I'm not sure why you would -- or what you're basing such an assumption on.

This is just a personal mod that I upload so people can use it if they so wish. I am always open to suggestions and have actually made several major changes based on user feedback.

Please don't post here if you're just going to be offensive.
