One thing's certain about the Hungarians in 867 - they shouldn't look Western European!
They were very Turkic influenced, so one could give them a culture for before they settled in Pannonia.

BTW: A lot of stuff found on the internet on early Serbian states (Zachlumia, Pagania, Travunia, Dioclea, Serbia and 9th century Bosnia) comes from Vladimir Ćorović's "History of the Serbs", which I happen to have literally right next to me. :)

Given that Finno-Ugric is a term that includes Hungarian, can anyone explain whether PI's Tengri start for the Magyars is accurate?
AFAIK its actually pretty accurate.

By linguistic geographical name analysis, it seems that the original Ugro-Finnin urheimat was west of the urals, probably roughly in modern central Russia. There are names of rivers in northeastern Ukraine that have Ugro-finnic origins.

We can argue about the small geographical details(as do historians up to this day), but the Magyars separated from the rest of the Ugro-Finnic peoples in the dark ages and moved to the southwest (while the ancestors of Udmurts, Mari and Mordvins moved to the north). This was probably influenced by the grat influx of steppe peoples such as the Pechengs etc.

By the 9th century, Magyars were already at the eastern edges of the Carpathian ridge.

This mod looks interesting, I've been looking for some inspiration for the mod I'm working on, I'm planning on expanding Manichaeism and perhaps adding the Tarim Basin, but I hardly know the first thing about central Asia, so...
