I know nothing about modding events so I'm proposing this in the event someone who does wants to give it a try.

The idea is this: I'd like to see armies suffer a significant morale loss if their ruler dies or is wounded in battle. It would be one way to balance the "biggest army always wins" situation. And it makes sense historically - think Hastings.

We already have events where the character gets wounded or killed in battle. And we have seige events that impose a morale hit on one side or other. So perhaps combine the concepts? Again, I know zero about event scripting but I assume there's a way? The event would have to work both on player's and the AI armies.

Any takers?

It's a great idea. I think that the effect on both armies morale should be modified by the traits and stats of old/new ruler. For example - if the ruler who died was great and his successor is really bad or a child, the impact should be huge and if the ruler who died just sucked and his successor is amazing, then the impact should be small.
