Because targeted decisions appear on your character. At the moment, it is much messier to have decisions hidden all around the place. By having self targeted decisions you always know where to look for anything. Also I prefer the diplomacy gui to the intrigue gui tbh, it is more readily found and it makes it a little easier to scope to the one making the decision. It enables many more options in the future.

To be honest, I don't think that having it as self targeted would make much sense to players. Wouldn't it be better to have it target the byzantine emperor since that's the guy you send the request to hold a council to? Otherwise, I now understand why it is a targeted decision. Many thanks for the explanation!

Self Targeted is done for the moment, I will probably expand it to a realm wide decision at some point, to let you do curious things like the example I gave earlier about uniting Christianity under a puppet while your a pagan or Muslim.

Will the weird gaps and loops be removed, or is this more or less the finished draft of Egypt? Personally i hope it's not, as it doesn't look very aesthetically pleasing, but that's just my opinion.
Those are deserts and were sparsely inhabited, if people find me a nomadic tribe or something living in them I wouldnt mind putting a province there.

To me it looks like the area was under Eastern Roman control. Why not have those areas under their control?
It may have been under their control nominally but if the population wasnt really there why? It also should make taking over egypt more interesting since your basically funneled downward to attack head on

In that case, finding a couple nomads to sit there makes perfect sense.
Yea, if you or someone else find me a name I'll put them in, the eastern desert could easily be Beja nomads, I can find some of them, the Egypt political map does need some adjusting, the coastal area should probably be nomadic

Oh I know :) Personally I prefer having it being empty, but hey you could always defeat the nomads that will get put there.

Maybe we could simply have empty steppe-style provinces in place of deserts to represent the almost nonexistant habitation there? Then put them under either Roman or nomad control
That's the idea, I just need some names for the tribe as there has to have been some nomads thete

On the Eastern Desert I don't think there were any tribes there, as it was both desert and moutains. Every map I saw for another mod I was working on showed that desert as a completely empty spot with Egypt to the west and north and areas under egyptian influence to the south.

The Western Desert was inhabited by libyan tribes in the past but I don't know how true that was for the timeframe represented.

As for how the map looks, it is very well done with "proper" Egypt following the Nile and and little rows of provinces following the oasis.
