could you change it so he sends a set number of men against you who will establish the latin empire if they win?, a actual crusade would be inordinately difficult to overcome.
I think it's best if I leave it as it is. There's already a decision for Catholic Latin/Iberians to create the Latin Empire if they take Thrace.

Simply excellent mod, I've been having a lot of fun with it. One question though, the OP says I can reform the Roman culture? How would I go about doing that, I'm playing as the ERE and I control about half of Italia now and I've converted a good portion of the Empire to Hellenism but I still haven't gotten anything about culture.

You need to restore Rome and move your capital to Rome.

Just an FYI, I'm getting a C++ Runtime error as well but not when raising levies. The date goes to December 31st, 949 then crashes. I reloaded the save without the mod and it didn't crash.

This crash was reported with vanilla when Charlemagne came out. It seems to be random, it happens in some games and not others.

Say Omega, weren't you trying to emulate the standing armies of Byzantium at some point? You know, the ones represented by retinues who should have represented the majority of the armies but ended up being nothing but a buff to already strong nations. How did that turn out?

I've added in 79 hidden events which give you retinue boosts based on the number of realm holdings you have. You no longer get retinue boosts from technology or buildings, but if you have the Imperial Administration law you'll get a +20% tax modifier and +12,000 to your retinue cap for every 50 realm holdings you have, starting at 50. In 769, Constantine V gets a +20% tax modifier and +48,000 to his retinue cap, which is the equivalent of 18,000 troops. The modifier scales up to 1,150 realm holdings, which will net you the usual +20% tax boosts and +244,000 towards your retinue cap (The equivalent of 150,000 men).

And how does the AI do? I know it usually invests in retinue as soon as it can afford them them but in no game of mine(vanilla) have I seen a realm with a huge retinue army. I am aware that this is intended in vanilla but i'm wondering: Should the AI have a huge retinue army how will it manage it? It cannot just place it all in the capital county(like in vanilla). Does it distribute them across the provinces? Does it keep them close together near the capital(no monolithic group to avoid attrition)? Does it keep the near the border?

The AI tends to spend all of its money on its realm holdings or mercenaries, so it doesn't really use the system. If it causes a problem I can disable the events for the AI.

I forgot to add that I'm uploading the retinue system in the thread for the Imperial Revamp mod. My new update isn't ready yet, and the basis of this retinue system originally came from the Imperial Revamp mod, so if the author wants to include it or anyone wants to use it independently of his changes they can. It's 100% finished, and there's no point making people wait for it (I made sure it's 100% compatible with all mods, including this one).
