Can I ask a dumb question. How is this different from the CPR mod? I saw CPR has a few new graphics in it, other than that I still can't quite make out the differences. Thanks!
Hi jpinard. The short answer is that CPR is a more significant overhaul from vanilla, whereas PRP is a more modest, modular mod.
Longer answer: You can pick and choose individual changes that you like with the Portrait Realignment Pack. If it's just one little thing that irks you (like "alien-looking" Russians), then I probably have a fix for that. In many cases, the PRP changes don't impact the game's checksum, which means you can use them in multiplayer. But, the price for doing this is that I'm limited in the kind of things I can alter. The choice of modularity limits me to only adding one graphical culture group (I went with the steppe people).
CPR, on the other hand, adds several graphical culture groups, which means it can do slick things like control how the Samoyeds and Komi look without also impacting the Lapps, Prussians, Balts, etc. I believe it also comes with some custom image files, which expands/alters the graphics from the vanilla game. Because of these features, CPR provides a great deal more portrait variety.
If you download my mod, you'll see a PDF in the zip file. It details all the specific changes that are offered. You can compare that to the features section of the first post in CPR if you want a point-by-point comparison.
