Mod policy for HOI4?

There is a difference betweenhistorically accurate and racism though. I agree that the people should be able to mod whatever they want, but within the rules that paradox set with their rules. The mod did cross that line as far as i can see it with the cache. I mean how would you feel if you would be in their place and be confronted with the thought of being against everyone that wasn't the "prevered" color.

I say this a german myself. I would be completely ok with having the actual pictures of the NS leadership and every warcrime they have commited within those terrible years. It's history and we can't change that as much as we would like to. Hiding behind censorship will not magically make it go away and everyone should know that. It would be ok if handled in a neutral way so that everyone knows that killing people for their way of life is wrong by definition.

Excuse my english in this case as it's difficult to translate in another language but I see it this way: Use it neutral and as personal preference. I don't care. Use it to further an agenda (which i more or less read out of the comments of that particular mod) and it's a bit NONO! and should lead to that ban we saw Paradox be forced to.

Paradox pulled the mod because of the authors percieved personal white supremacist agenda as shown by the mods description and a link to a racist youtube video. Not the mod itself. Infact Paradox initially accepted the mod when it didn't carry racist connotations

Also Paradox's mod policy is the same across all of their games btw.

I don't see what the problem is about people making offensive mods regardless of which group it offends. If you don't like it then don't download them.

Banning points of view can be very dangerous and it's a slippery slope.

Paradox will most likely be deleting Nazi flag mods and any other mods that contain things that Paradox does not like.

I guess the flag one is clear cut (obvious and visual), but what about ones translating unsavory history events into gameplay? Will Paradox actively try to hunt them down, or if the description is cryptic enough they'll let it live?

It is not so clear where the line actually is. How about skull & cross-bones or double lightning bolt icons for SS divisions? It feels wrong, but once I bought a DLC for Hoi3 directly from Paradox called "Common Weapons" that added SS units with black counters and very small but unmistakable double lightning bolt icons. I, personally, like running into and fighting the evil SS divisions when playing as the allies, but I guess one man's arched villains are another man's heroes. Funny, an axe inside a bundle of sticks is fine -- even in Stellaris...

It's not a racist video. I literally just listened to it, and the first line in it is something to the effect of, "this can apply to any people." It's not degrading any other culture or race, it's a philosophical video about the uniqueness of any peoples, and that if they are absorbed into the collective then they lose that individuality, rather than giving their individuality over to be adapted. In no way does it say that the European cultures are better than any others, only that they are different and that that difference should be kept alive. I'm not sure if I agree with it, but hearing somebody say "oh yeah white supremacy" because of a video title is no reason to call this guy racist at all.

Looking at the PR disaster that is the Stellaris mod pull...

PR disaster? Paradox removed a racist mod for Stellaris. They even waited and gave it the benefit of the doubt until the mod creator stupidly said "White only - No Multiculturalism Here!

Looking at the PR disaster that is the Stellaris mod pull, its clear that Paradox not only censors the German version, but will actively scan and take down any mods it deems offensive.
This is extremely worrying, since WWII has a lot more sensitive topics than a space game.
I hope Paradox can clarify their mod policy on HOI4, what they allow vs what they will take down.
