[MOD] Patrum Scuta

This is a first ingame test of my alternative crown/coronet designs. I opted for a generic Imperial crown that resembles some Byzantine examples and the Holy Roman Crown without the arch and cross (added later), a generic medieval royal crown with Fleur-de-Lis (like the French crown of Charlemagne, the Bohemian crown of Saint Wenceslas and the Polish crown of Saint Bolesław). Having looked through my university textbooks and databases, it seems most lower nobility all use simple circlets. So I've given a decorated golden circlet for Dukes, a plain smaller golden circlet for counts and a plain silver circlet for counts.

In game they look a bit like this:

I'll have to darken the colours a bit and thicken the lines for smaller sizes.

I've recolored them, and added thicker lines to the smallest sizes, so they're good to go.

To use them, just paste the files of the attachment into mod\Patrum Scuta\gfx\interface

If they are included into this or another mod, you have to credit me and the Wikipedia users Sodacan, Glasshouse and Ssolbergj, as I used their CC-BY-SA files as a base to get these done quickly.

Just wanted to voice my support for this project, I find playing without it makes the game look pretty crude. I actually had the same thought that the Kaiser's coronation crown didn't have a miter, but I prefer the majesty it gives the interface. I only have one question, what is the triskellion-like emblem the Muslims get sometimes supposed to represent?

I think the crowns are fine as they are. I'd much rather see more variety in muslim CoAs (for example) than more accurate crowns.

I don't really have a specific element in mind. I have a lot of concept and I need to choose what I would think would work better alone. Maybe the charframes since it's one of the few elements that could work independently (from the rearranged concept).

I haven't touched islamic emblems yet (next update deals with muslims and aztecs, reworking them from scratch) so it's not something from PS. Maybe I'll post a few previews in the week end. I've finally decided how I would deal with the mexicah so it's a question of making enough variants now.

I'll see if I can do alternative crowns matching the overall theme in the next update. I don't know, come to think of it, maybe I'll do the charframes and crowns at the same time, but on the other hand I'm already getting behind schedule for islamic emblems.

So about those crowns, since this a recurring demand, I made a new set from scratch.

I may still tweak them a little bit but it's about 90% done and hopefully will already look more satisfying to some of you (let's hope, you guys are hard to please lol).

I like them, unless the royal one. This crown of Lombardy style doesn't strike to me as royal enough. I'd prefer a classical crown like the ones we had before, or else like the one Frostschaden made


Also, I noticed the new charframes. They look very nice, really, but I was too fond of the bands of cloth that surrounded them. I especially liked the purple one for the Emperors. And maybe they are too thick, they cover too much of the charachter's body.

But well, that's just me.

Regarding the crowns both versions are nice. From the old version I really liked the imperial crown (with the miter), which was great for the HRE; the new imperial crown might be better suited as a more general imperial crown for the ERE, HRE and potential other Christian empires (whether one includes these or not).

Finally I agree with Cesar de Quart & Arko, that all other crowns, except the royal one, look nice; the royal one doesn't strike me as royal enough either.

With Mediafire I only have problems with that one file, the other Patrum Scuta files work fine. With the CK2+ version I get "File Blocked for Violation. The file you requested has been blocked for a violation of our Terms of Service." as error message.

It isn't possibly, they're 3d. One can only texture them or maybe remove them.
