The game doesn't seem to generate any of these truely randomly in fact. There's something predefined that makes the draw happen the same way from one game to another (at least it does in my case). As it is right now, some designs and colours are much more common than what they should be. If you think sinople (green) is too rare, all I can tell you is that it's already three or four times more common than what it really was (furs were more common, and they aren't even ingame). Mainly because in medieval symbolism, green is commonly associated with madness. Of course gold (yellow) as colour of sovereignty, or gules (red) as colour of wealth are much more common, it really is not that surprising at all on a global scale.

Anyway I've been working on giving most dynasties their historical arms so the results should change a lot. Although if variety is really what you seek absolutely more than realism, I'm afraid it's bad news (heraldic groups are much more repetitive on a regional basis).

Appologies. It seems your mod isn't at fault here, something in my own folders is. The screenshot I posted wasn't exactly representative of the severity of the problem. Seems the vanilla coats of arms have the same issue, only this time they're mostly black, white, and sanguine. No idea what thats about. Reinstall time.

It appears that I made a mistake with that one (I was using the contrast view), but it certainly appears to be that the nails and tongue have a different color. OTOH a yellow tongued one does look like a good alternate version :).

So I guess that means I'm allowed to post here any of my future 'work'? (If there is any demand for it.)

How do you give most dynasties their historical arms? By commands on the dynasty text file, or by adding the arms directly into a new dynasty.tga file?

By command line in the dynasty file. It's much quicker in the long run because I can reuse any design I add in the pattern files. Anything I can't do with a combination of existing ones, or things a bit tricky (including furs), will end being textured in one specific file. But even there I try to plan ahead and keep open options for later (for ex Blois is textured without the chief which is added from the layered emblems file, so if I need Gules, three pals vair, I will have it already).

Sadly the ruler designer seems limited to the first pattern file so people won't be able to use it as a powerful construction kit like coabuilder does (great tool, I may upload the needed files so anyone can add dynasties he'd like to make sure will be done).

Anyway it's a bit on hold since I got a king of France named Gargamel and decided enough was enough. Not sure I'll make a mod out of it but I'm completely reworking the name lists from scratch (not sure how many I'll do, perhaps only latin languages I don't know).

So far as I can tell it works, though all the Christian countries have red and gold heraldry and the Muslims blue, green, and gold. But it seems that is not a CK2+-unique issue.

Red and gold being common is a feature and 'all' seems like quite the exaggeration. I also can't see any sort of pattern with the Muslims.

For the most part it works, though I've noticed that when I use it the interface icons for the various religions get messed up.

Then it needs to be made compatible, most likely it's the generalstuff that needs numbers changed to fit the changes of CK2+
