New Era Old World 0.2.4 Dev Diary 1 - Luther's People
renderTimingPixel.png

Hello everyone, and welcome to our first New Era – Old World Dev Diary! In this DD, I will take you through the important change coming to Europe in the next version, 0.2.4.
But Darken, I hear you say, Lutheranism is already in the game! And to that I respond: Well yes, but actually no.
r/NewEraOldWorld - New Era Old World 0.2.4 Dev Diary 1 - Luther's People
As you can see, Northern Europe and Germany have changed quite a lot. You probably noticed at a glance that Nobelians have been removed (although their content has not, as we will discuss when we get to it). In their place is the Vagarna faith. This religion is a Syncretic faith mainly derived from Folk Lutheranism and Scandinavian traditions. Meanwhile, the Esoteric faith of the Einblickers dedicates itself to the expansion of Lutheranism through war. Liturgical, meanwhile, is largely the same as the Lutheran faith from previous versions of the game. But since there are some changes, let us start from them.

LITURGICAL, THE CHRISTIAN LUTHERANS
The Liturgical faith main change is that it now has a weak religious head in the form of the Archbishop of Lund. Sweden, being the core of the Liturgical faith, hosts now more holy sites, including not only Lund, but also Uppsala. The faith is still autocephalous, with a Patriarch or Matriarch present in each Kingdom, but now all of them answer to the Archbishop.
r/NewEraOldWorld - New Era Old World 0.2.4 Dev Diary 1 - Luther's People
As a side note, the dynasty of the Swedish King is changed appropriately, becoming non other than the current Swedish royal dynasty.
r/NewEraOldWorld - New Era Old World 0.2.4 Dev Diary 1 - Luther's People

VÄGARNA, THE FAITH OF THE NORTH
r/NewEraOldWorld - New Era Old World 0.2.4 Dev Diary 1 - Luther's People
The Vägarna faith is a syncretic belief that integrates Folk Lutheranism with various traditions from Scandinavia and the Old World. This faith maintains most of the content from Nobelianism, just slightly reskinned to fit the current faith. The only exception is the Laureate role, which no longer exists.
r/NewEraOldWorld - New Era Old World 0.2.4 Dev Diary 1 - Luther's People
However, as you might have noticed from the decision list, you are also required to pick a branch as a follower of Vägarna.
Lores 2.png

The four Branches of the faith are the Old Lore, the Heroic Tales, the Talekeepers and the Treaties of State. Each of them focuses on different content.
The Old Lore are the Vägarna followers that believe in the kinship of all men. They practice the festivities of Yule and similar seasonal gatherings to celebrate the close kinship of their families and friends.
The Heroic Tales focus on protecting the faith. Clearly remembering the hardships suffered by the Lutherans in their early days, the Heroic Tales followers celebrate Gustav the Lion in his fight against the Eagle. They’ll fight to protect the Vagarna and all Lutheran faiths from further harm.
The Talekeeper are the closest faith to the nominal Lutheran church, and as such they show a positive opinion toward the Liturgical faith. The Talekeepers spend their time studying the Bible, translated in their language as Martin Luther thought them.
Finally, the Treaties of the State practice the research of ancient knowledge on the nations that are now lost. They are strong followers of the system of monarchies and states that date to before the Event, and as such are favored by the elite.

EINBLICKER, THE ENEMIES OF YALDABAOTH
r/NewEraOldWorld - New Era Old World 0.2.4 Dev Diary 1 - Luther's People
The Vägarna faith spread like wildfire in Germany, where the people of the land enjoyed the protection ensured by the brave followers of the Heroic Tales as a better alternative to the short-lived Prussianists or the traditional Liturgicals. But as time passed, the followers of the Heroic Tales in central Europe started to adopt different philosophies and strange beliefs, until only their military tradition and their fear of the Catholic faith survived. And as such, the Heroic Tales became the Einblickers, the Insightful, a faith that appears esoteric and foreign to all other Christians.

r/NewEraOldWorld - New Era Old World 0.2.4 Dev Diary 1 - Luther's People

r/NewEraOldWorld - New Era Old World 0.2.4 Dev Diary 1 - Luther's People
The Einblicker believe in a temporal religious head, the Luther. The holder of the title known as Lutherstadt, the Luther as great power over all Einblickers, from granting divorces and claims to organizing the Wars of Redemption, their Great Holy Wars.
r/NewEraOldWorld - New Era Old World 0.2.4 Dev Diary 1 - Luther's People
A participant in the War of Redemption is known as a Truthseeker, and gains great respect from his fellow practitioners.
r/NewEraOldWorld - New Era Old World 0.2.4 Dev Diary 1 - Luther's People
Sworn enemies of the Papists and of course of the Pope, a servant of Yaldabaoth, the Einblickers have fought for many years to ensure their expansion. So far, however, the resistance of the walled city of Munster has prevented them from breaking through the Rheinlands, and the Alps protects the Papists. Bavaria suffers greatly from their raids, but it’s unification has prevented it from falling. But the Einblicker will keep fighting for the faith, and who knows if the tide will turn in their favor.

That is all for today's DD, and we hope this makes you a lot more interested in playing as one of the Lutheran faiths in the next version. As a reminder, the Poll to decide the last 9 Achievements to be added in the next version of the game is still ongoing. Make sure to leave your vote. Join us on our discord or leave a comment to tell us what you think of these changes!

New Era Old World 0.2.4 Dev Diary 2 - Return to the North Sea
Hello everyone, and welcome to another DD for the soon to be released version 0.2.4 of New Era: Old World. Today, we look into the North Sea. There have been a lot of changes in the area, many coming from our separation from AtE lore. Let us look into it.

OF CELTS AND PIRATES

Druidism and Pirate were originally respectively imported from and based on the religions of After the End. Of course, it’s now only fair that we take them in their own direction.

The Pirate faith is now called Sea Creed Black Flag, and accentuates the tone we had already worked on since 0.1, where we focused on the concept of Corsairs. Therefore, the Sea Creed doesn’t actually change much from its past depiction outside of the change in the name. The gods and mechanics of the faith are the same that were implemented in our game, meaning all mechanics to adopt Piracy, rejoining the faith of the sovereign, and creating Corsairs are available.

r/NewEraOldWorld - New Era Old World 0.2.4 Dev Diary 2: Return to the North Sea
Druidism, on the other hand, changes completely, becoming the Draíochta faith. The Aran Islands have seen a rebirth of Irish pagan beliefs, focused mostly, due to the rebirth of the faith on a number of small island, around the Fae and the legendary Tir Na Nog. The main example of this is the chief deity of the faith, Lir, who according to Irish paganism is the God of the Sea and ruler of the island.

r/NewEraOldWorld - New Era Old World 0.2.4 Dev Diary 2: Return to the North Sea

THE FAITH OF THE FAR NORTH

Another new faith comes into play with Tatik, our implementation of Inuit Paganism. Coming from the shores of Greenland and, at game start, only reaching barely on the shores of Iceland, Tatik is a faith that venerates the sea and the ancestors, while showing sign of syncretism with the Lutheran faith that, today, is the main faith in the islands of Greenland and Iceland. Tatik venerates various figures from Greenland folklore and religion, accompanied by a few gods that have been syncretized from Lutheranism and Greenland history.

r/NewEraOldWorld - New Era Old World 0.2.4 Dev Diary 2: Return to the North Sea
The faith can be reformed and is the only faith in the mod that allows syncretism, which in game means the possibility to adopt sympathy for another religious group through decision, much like African Paganism can do in vanilla.

CULTURED ISLES

British culture has received a quite decided hit with a mallet in this mod, courtesy of our resident welsh speaking dev. Where before the culture had admittedly inconsistent rules of spelling, the three cultures it has been broken into now show a consistent system of spelling in names, locations and dynasties. The Scouse, Southerner and Pryton cultures – grouped in the Brittanic culture group – now divide the country, along with the English cultures of Westlanders, Eastlanders and the new Norflanders. Westlanders, Eastlanders, Pryton and Southerner cultures also present diversity, allowing for Black, Indian and Asian looking characters to appear sometime along with the Caucasians. New melting pots are also included in the new Brittanic culture group, such as the Princesser and Britisher.

Britain Culture map at game start

r/NewEraOldWorld - New Era Old World 0.2.4 Dev Diary 2: Return to the North Sea
Askhenazi and Travellers cultured characters can also appear in the British Isles through diaspora events, similar to vanilla, representing the large Askhenazi population on the Isles and the Irish Travellers culture. As an aside, in this screenshot you can see the new religious clothing of Jewish priests.

r/NewEraOldWorld - New Era Old World 0.2.4 Dev Diary 2: Return to the North Sea

BLOOD AND CROWN

Two new bloodlines have been introduced to the game: the Windsor Scion bloodline and the Blood of Hereward.

The Windsor Scion bloodline is owned at start by House Windsor and House Rholls-Rhoycy. The bloodline is representative of the supposed the descendants of the great Queen, and as such boosts the opinion of Thelema practitioner. However, as Anglicans agree the last rulers to also lead the faith were Windsor, it also gives them a bonus.

r/NewEraOldWorld - New Era Old World 0.2.4 Dev Diary 2: Return to the North Sea
The Blood of Hereward runs in the veins of the counts of Suffwlk. Eastlanders, Westlanders and Norflanders greatly respect the blood of the man that inspired one England greatest heroes, Robin Hood.

r/NewEraOldWorld - New Era Old World 0.2.4 Dev Diary 2: Return to the North Sea
The Emperor himself receives, instead of a Bloodline, a great treasure, the Queen’s Crown, an object of unmatched value for any inhabitant of the isles. Many thieves have tried and failed to get their hand on such a precious artifact, but so far without success.

r/NewEraOldWorld - New Era Old World 0.2.4 Dev Diary 2: Return to the North Sea
On a bloodline related note, the Joestar bloodline has been nerfed by adding an event that removes it if you are separated from House Joestar direct members for more than three generations. This will reduce its spread in the Empire.

Thank you all for joining us in this new DD and be aware that the release of version 0.2.4 is imminent. I hope everyone is as excited about it as we are.

So what is the Princesser culture?
Claedbraeyk (Scottish) characters over Faroese provinces will develop the Princesser culture. The name comes from the fact the Faroe are called the Princess Islands in Scottish.

New Era Old World 0.2.4 Dev Diary 3 - Return to the North Sea
Hello everyone, and welcome to our final DD for version 0.2.4. It is with great happiness that I want to officialize the release of New Era: Old World version 0.2.4 for December the 21st! As our hopefully penultimate CK2 version, we have poured a great amount of work into it, so I truly hope you will play it extensively and have great fun with it.

For this last DD, we address one final time our separation from ATE. Specifically, we look at what we have done to the American Invasion and to the mod’s lore on the American continent.

THE BRITS SAIL

As you will notice, the initial set up of the invasion is the same: The Emperor of the British Empire decides to conquer westward, believing firmly in his success in conquering the west. His redcoats sail through a route around Iceland and Greenland (the same route of the ancient Vikings) and land in Newfoundland.

r/NewEraOldWorld - New Era - Old World Dev Diary 4: Beyond the Atlantic
From here, the adventure takes two different routes, that lead you through a very different American continent than what you would find in previous versions, let us look at this New World.

r/NewEraOldWorld - New Era - Old World Dev Diary 4: Beyond the Atlantic
There are many possible outcomes of the fight of the Redcoats. They will be challenged as they land in the Governorate of New England, or as they face the powerful American Empire, stretching from its capital of Washington both west and south, either ruling directly or through tributaries over the east coast.

r/NewEraOldWorld - New Era - Old World Dev Diary 4: Beyond the Atlantic
r/NewEraOldWorld - New Era - Old World Dev Diary 4: Beyond the Atlantic

Alternatively, seeking the northern path, they will face the powerful force of the city-states of Quebec, divided but powerful.

r/NewEraOldWorld - New Era - Old World Dev Diary 4: Beyond the Atlantic
Whatever choice they make, the Brits bit more than they could chew. Their defeat is ultimately inevitable, and once the rulers of the western shore of the Atlantic crush them, it is only natural for them to set sail and come for vengeance.

THE MANY FAITHS OF THE WEST

The main faith of the powerful American Empire is Constitutionalism. This faith, or more correctly this state philosophy, is based on the understanding of the ideas of great pre-Event thinkers such as Frederik Douglass, John Hancock or Thomas Jefferson, along with the many political facets of old America. The great enemy of this state religion are Anarchy, Tyranny and Superstition.

r/NewEraOldWorld - New Era - Old World Dev Diary 4: Beyond the Atlantic
Of course, the simple fact this faith exist hasn’t stopped other faiths from existing both from within and from outside the Empire. One such example is the church of the West. The Columbian Church under the Latin Patriarch is situated in Washington, under the ‘protective gaze’ of the President. While the authority of the Latin Patriarch is absolute inside the Empire, outside many churches deny his role, and are therefore called Sedevacantists.

r/NewEraOldWorld - New Era - Old World Dev Diary 4: Beyond the Atlantic
Protestant faiths also survive, and the strongest among them is the Mainline faith. Due to its decentralized and therefore rather inoffensive nature, the faith is far more accepted by the Empire than the Evangelical or Charismatic churches, that resist mostly in isolated communities and on the Appalachian Frontier.

r/NewEraOldWorld - New Era - Old World Dev Diary 4: Beyond the Atlantic
r/NewEraOldWorld - New Era - Old World Dev Diary 4: Beyond the Atlantic
The large US Jewish community is not involved in the main split of the Eurasian Jews over the legitimacy of the current supposed Messiah in Israel. Rather, they are united under the Ma’aravi (Western) faith. Though technically a single faith, it is actually an amalgam of the remnants of Reform, Masorati and Orthodox Jews from pre-Event. A split predating the Event in the faith has brought upon the birth of Hasidic Judaism.

r/NewEraOldWorld - New Era - Old World Dev Diary 4: Beyond the Atlantic
r/NewEraOldWorld - New Era - Old World Dev Diary 4: Beyond the Atlantic
Another important faith in America, hailing from the land of the Great Lakes, is that of the Four Guardians. This Pagan faith originates from the Great Lakes but the connections created by the American Empire spread it through it, generating small communities in other isolated areas of the vast domain of America. Such communities believe in a yearly cycle embodied by a variety of deities taken from pre-Event folklore and Native American Mythology.

r/NewEraOldWorld - New Era - Old World Dev Diary 4: Beyond the Atlantic

THE COLONIES

Once America establishes the Colonies in Europe, it is only natural for them to establish an appropriate government. As such, they rule using the unique Colonial government. Heavily based on cities, the Colonial government has a peculiar quirk.

r/NewEraOldWorld - New Era - Old World Dev Diary 4: Beyond the Atlantic
r/NewEraOldWorld - New Era - Old World Dev Diary 4: Beyond the Atlantic
If a ruler of such a government wishes to, they can require colonists from America to settle. However, keep in mind that there are two varieties of colonists.

For a large price, the colonists can come from the core lands of the Empire. Those loyal citizens of America are known as High Americana cultures, and are usually loyal to their rulers.

r/NewEraOldWorld - New Era - Old World Dev Diary 4: Beyond the Atlantic
It’s also possible for a less powerful or less wealthy Colonist to settle the region, of course, though the decision will be slightly different...

And this is all for our newest DD! We hope you are ready to play against the Colonial challenge… or to play as the Colonial challenge.

what is the main faith of city-states of Quebec? And will they establish the Colonies in Europe?
Quebec is mostly Sedevacantist (or Catholic, from the perspective of the Europeans). They too will attempt to establish Colonies.

New Era Old World 0.2.4 release
Hello everyone, and welcome to the official release of New Era: Old World 0.2.4

In this version, we have addressed many long time requests from the community, such as reworking the Nobelians in a way that makes them more connected to their roots in Scandinavia or reworking the Indian religions. We also separate ourselves officially from After the End: Fan Fork, therefore removing all religions original of their setting. A new lore has been introduced in regards of America, and the American invasion has been reworked. For more details on the frankly massive amount of new features, I redirect you all to the Changelog at the end. Suffice to say, this new version is one we really hope everyone will enjoy.

419 Eater is about an event chain related to a Nigerian Prince coming to your court in search of support. You have to take certain steps to waste this person's time.
Censored requires you to kill a member of a certain Chinese house.

Currently not, because we'd like to keep it vague on whether those are the same as pre-Event houses or not.

I just search the event files, I find that there is no trigger event for 419 Eater and the trigger of Censored event is "always = no", so I think they are broken?

And there still have Founding Father Achievement in Achievements list, is this also a bug?

I will pass this to the dev team and see if we can fix it, thank you.

Why the flag of liehuo's religion head is the flag of KMT?
It's an example of the post-apocalypse people misunderstanding a symbol. After all, what could the symbol of a religion called Eternal Fire be but the sun?

As additional content for players that are interested in an even more peculiar gameplay, our dev Fishe introduces a new submod that makes New Era: Old World take place during the events of the game Stellaris, introducing alien races to the mix. If you don't want this, make sure to make the submod inactive before starting the game.

it seems that this symbol make liehuo a little more Capitalist…

Another question is, why need kingdom of U-Tsang rather than whole empire of Tibet to create it?

New Era Old World 0.3 Dev Diary 1: African Coast and Islands of the Atlantic Sea
Hello everyone, and welcome to our first DD on version 0.3 of New Era Old World. In this Dev Diary, I will show the most interesting expansion we have made on the mod so far: the Western African Coast and the Islands off in the west: Azores, western Canaries and Cape Verde. Along with it, also came a large rework of the African map.

r/NewEraOldWorld - New Era Old World 0.3 Dev Diary One - African Coast and Atlantic Islands
AZORES AND CANARIES

Our expansion of the map to the west took us to the various Archipelagos that fill the Atlantic. First off, to the west of Portugal, sit the island Madeira and the Archipelago of the Azores. The islands have been grouped together as the Kingdom of Azores, and are divided in three religions: Madeira, ruled by the Catholic Duke Juliano Monjardino, is a stronghold of the old faith in the Archipelago, despite having failed his first attempt at expanding to the Azores.

r/NewEraOldWorld - New Era Old World 0.3 Dev Diary One - African Coast and Atlantic Islands
Next to it, to the west, on the Island of Santa Maria rules Plutarco da Costa, follower of the Apostolic faith we will discuss further below.

r/NewEraOldWorld - New Era Old World 0.3 Dev Diary One - African Coast and Atlantic Islands
The rest of the Azores are ruled by rulers that follow the Sea Creed. Those pirates pillage the rich coasts of Europe and Africa before returning to their domains, and many wonder if the Pirate Kingdom will one day emerge from those isolated islands.

r/NewEraOldWorld - New Era Old World 0.3 Dev Diary One - African Coast and Atlantic Islands
The Canaries remain roughly the same in form, still under the rule of their own King, the Catholic Sancho del Toro. However, they expand enough to truly be considered a Kingdom. Unified, this fragment of Iberia off the coast of Africa might even dream of retaking all of Spain in the name of their faith.

r/NewEraOldWorld - New Era Old World 0.3 Dev Diary One - African Coast and Atlantic Islands
CABO VERDE

The Islands of Cabo Verde are the third Archipelago added by this version. The islands share the peculiarity of adhering to the Apostolic church. The Empire of Nigeria has long since established contact with the rich coasts of south America, where many a kingdom adheres to the Apostolic church. The Kings of Rio de Janeiro, in particular, have been extremely interested in establishing contact with the lands beyond the Atlantic.

The contact between the two regions made Cabo Verde an important trading hub, and soon a Baiano adventurer decided to test his luck by ruling the region, which had long since been converted to the Apostolic faith. To the surprise of many, he managed to have himself crowned King of Cabo Verde, even though only two rulers decided to follow him.

r/NewEraOldWorld - New Era Old World 0.3 Dev Diary One - African Coast and Atlantic Islands
His main rival is the disgruntled Duke of Boa Archipelago. This man who himself desired the crown of Cabo Verde now has to act fast, before the rest of the kingdom is seized by this Baiano upstart.

r/NewEraOldWorld - New Era Old World 0.3 Dev Diary One - African Coast and Atlantic Islands
KING OF RIVERS

On the west coast of Africa, exists a Kingdom that grew between the Gambia and the Senegal, named after the latter river. Ruled by King Marcel-François de Richebourg, the Kingdom of Senegal is one of the most powerful of the region. However, it is not free of strives.

r/NewEraOldWorld - New Era Old World 0.3 Dev Diary One - African Coast and Atlantic Islands
If the King and his court follow the Oke-Tude faith, practiced in the Empire of Nigeria, many of his vassals still adhere to older, traditional beliefs. The most powerful of those is the undisputed ruler of The Gambia, Joseph Fadika. Adhering to the ‘ilman almalyika faith, the two do not have a good relation, and Senegal is always on the verge of civil war.

DESERTS AND RAINS

A long stretch of the coast of West Africa answers to a single ruler. This land of the coastal desert is ruled by Amenokal Mourad Abdellahi. The Abdellahi Empire is a land of nomads, traveling warriors of the Muwahidunna faith that have a critical role in controlling many small ports between Morocco and Senegal. The current Amenokal is more than happy with the current state of things, but many wonder what a more ambitious ruler might do to further the interests of the Empire.

Far to the south, reaching past the Gambia, one encounters the Kingdom of Guinea. This land of rains is ruled by King Antoine Ndafa. The rulers of Guinea follow a faith from the south as well, but unlike the Senegalese Kings they practice the Nupolona-kolon faith. This faith from Liberia, the powerful realm that rivals Nigeria in power, is representing the umbrella of the Old Ways of traditional African believes and the New Ways of Christianity. King Antoine faces many challenges around, from Senegal, to the Nigerian Empire, to the powerful rulers of Labe.

And that will be all for today. Thank you for reading this new DD, and we hope you are now interested in playing in our expanded Africa.

Hello everyone. Sorry for the prolonged radio silence, but I assure you that we haven't been idle in the past few months. While eventually we plan to move to CK3 (ideally if China releases, but most likely earlier), we have been working hard on the next game version. There have been many changes from the map, to the world, to new characters I will introduce starting from next week in a series of Dev Diaries. Meanwhile, here is a series of previews on the world of New Era: Old World.

We thank you sincerely for your patience with our mod. We just want to make it the best it can possibly be, and that requires significant work in order to achieve. However, know that if you come to our discord and attain the rank of lesser noble (basically just a stamp that you're trusted and interested in the mod) at a minimum we can provide you with access to the development build of the mod, so that you might try it and help us develop it further.

New Era Old World 0.3 Dev Diary 2: The Last New Faiths
Hello everyone, and welcome to the first of a series of DDs that will lead to the release of version 0.3. As usual, our first focus should be on the last batch of complete new religions, and on some changes throughout the map.

PALMARIAN NO MORE

In our original release, the Palmarian Faith was made the main faith of Spain. Our intention was simply to use a peculiar religious schism to depict a political division in the Church. However, many people, both from Spain and outside, pointed out the connotations of the Palmarian Church in terms of politics. As such, after some deliberation, it was decided to rework Spain and its main faith. The result was the creation of a post-Apocalyptic Sevillian Church. While mechanically it does not remove itself from the previous Palmarian Church as depicted in the game, the Sevillian Church is not connected to the Palmarian faith in any way, chiefly being inspired in its schism by purported visions of the Archangel Raphael and religious post-Apocalyptic reasons. Of course, at least some changes have been made: being a post-Event church born from an attempt of returning the faithful to the older days of Catholicism, the Church rejects many of the changes that are seen as ‘modern’ and ‘decadent’, including the ban of the selling of indulgences, seen as a decision brought by the ‘Protestant heresies’. The new Sevillian Church plans to return all of Catholicism back to its older roots, but who knows if they will succeed.

IN THE NORTHERN SKIES

Moving up to the North of Russia, we have removed the Suomenusko region in the area. This is because post-Event Suomenusko is heavily rooted in the Kalevala, the national epic of Finland and Karelia, and thus had no reason to spread to the far north. A new faith has emerged in those lands, known in Russia as Zvezdniki and outside of it as Starism. Starism is a faith focused on the observation of the night sky, the only immutable thing so far in this land of eternal winters. King Zvezda of the Stars is the great god of this faith, and Starists pray to the various greater stars of the firmament, and admire the Auroras that only bless the sky so far in the north, while fearing the legend of Chernaya Dyra, the all-eating hole that brings eternal darkness by devouring stars.

CHURCH OF THE CAUCASUS

As you might know, our choice of representing the Armenians as Orthodox came more from an attempt to simplify gameplay than from any real reason, given the Armenian Church is a separate entity. In 0.3, the Armenian Church finally becomes playable, making the Caucasian region even more divided religiously. The Armenian faith is closely tied, however, with both the other two Christian faiths of the region and with the Coptic Church of Africa. The faith is only practiced in Armenia and in a few bordering provinces, but this might change if the fortunes of Armenia mutate.

ON THE PERSIAN GULF

The Mandaean faith is a minoritarian faith, that was almost extinct before the Apocalypse. After it, it mostly remained hidden, in small communities of faithful, sometimes accepted by their rulers and sometimes oppressed by them. However, one region of the world has seen them rise to prominence. Down in the Persian Gulf, one single province is held by a Mandean ruler. The faith is represented as an Esoteric faith, much like the Druze, with close ties to Zoroastrianism, Christianity and Islam.

BACK TO RUSSIA

Moving to heresies, for our first one we will go back to Russia. Here, the Orthodox Heresy of Neo-Donatism has emerged after the Apocalypse. Claiming that the Armageddon has come and that those that still ‘live’ were found unworthy of ascension, the Neo-Donatists ponder why this happened and what that means for the world of today. If this was truly the Last Judgment, did the dead return and the people of God ascend, meaning that those left behind are truly in Hell, or does it mean that God rebuked the Earth and decided to not bring the Last Judgment to its completion? Such questions are why the Neo-Donatists are considered heretics by the main Orthodox Church, that denies the link between the Event and the biblical Armageddon.

FOLLOWERS OF CONSTANTINE

Off in the Aegean Sea, on the small islands where Christian Orthodoxy and the resurgent Hellenic faith meet and cohabitate, originated the Marblist Heresy. The Marblists believe that Constantine, blessed by God to save Rome from its enemies, in his last day was turned by the Angels of the Lord in a statue of marble, so that he may one day come back to fight for the faith to lead the people of God in his blessing. This peculiar faith has long been treated as heretical by the Orthodox Church, seen as foolish and heavily influenced by the Hellenist believes in Alexandros, their own Emperor-God. And yet, especially in the Aegean Sea, where the control of the Church is lax, the faithful of Marblism thrive. Who knows what’s to come for this unusual heresy?

r/NewEraOldWorld - New Era Old World 0.3 Dev Diary: Last new faiths
THE PEOPLE OF THE QURAN

Quranism is an existing movement of Islam, that denies the validity of any form of Islamic teaching that does not come from the Quran itself, thus refusing any form of hadith because they consider the Quran complete. This form of Islam is heavily separated from both Sunni and Shia. While in the context of the mod is represented as an heresy of Sunni, this is only to ensure its reappearance throughout the Islamic world if the few rulers it has at game start were to disappear.

And with this exploration of new heresies, we conclude our first look into version 0.3. I hope this was interesting, and see you soon for our next DD.
