I feel that the government changing restrictions are too great. So, I've made a mod that lets you switch from any republic to any repubic and from any monarchy to any monarchy once you research them. I've kept all of the original restrictions, and added a stab hit of -5 for all of my new switches. You can download it here.

And if you've never downloaded my bookmarks file, get that here.

We will probably need a mod sub-forum soon :)

Actually, there already is a modifications subforum that is accessible to all registered users of the game. :)

Is Paradox planning to keep it invisible to un-EU3-registered users?

I imagine they would get some sales if they let everybody see it, but only registered users post ;)

I don't want to hijack this thread, so, back to the mod!

What's with the recent trend of forcing people to have a game to use that game's subforums? Is it just a way to twist our arm into buying the game?

More likely a way to make piracy more difficult without using mechanisms that unduly inconvenience legitimate customers (like copy protection schemes that require the user to have the CD in the drive to play, etc.). Personally I don't think it's such a big deal since legit customers need only spend a moment to register and the information is strictly private (it's actually about the same as registering to be able to post on the these forums) and if that's all I have to do to help thwart some pirates then I'm happy to do so (meaning I've bought other games from other companies that use this scheme and I don't resent it in the least).

Ah. That's sensable.

That strikes me as a very sensible move.
And it is something that only a company that actually hosts their games' community on their own boards (which many do not - Firaxis being one of the worst offenders) is able to do.
