Here is another updated version... x05. This is not backwards compatible either. As before, I've stripped out some graphics and music heavy stuff to reduce the size of the attachment.

Some comments:
  • The major difference here is the building setup, which now autobuilds level 2 and 3 buildings if the population modifier is high enough.
  • Good and Evil side setup is now done before play starts (you'll still get a message though).
  • I've added some Gondorian castle infantry buildings, and Hobbit farms.
  • Beards are gone for all Elves (including Círdan).
  • A few provinces have fixed terrain, I've changed some trait opinion modifiers, and Henneth Annûn is now Gondorian.
  • Not playtested for balance, polish, or fixing anything.

To install (to be clean)...
  • Delete any previous MEP mod folder, and install MEP 0.7 for 2.6 (from page 1 of this thread) to the mod folder.
  • In the newly installed mod (folder mod/MiddleEarthProject Beta), delete the common, decisions, events, and map/statics folders.
  • Unpack my file into the mod folder, allowing old files to be overwritten. Make sure that the mod/MiddleEarthProject Beta contains common, decisions, events, and map/statics folders afterwards.

First of all, thank you so much for doing all this. The reason why I couldnt start it earlier was because i thought you meant delete the whole "map" folder when you really meant only "statistics" within map. It's now working fine on 2.7.1 :) thanks!

Edit: I found an issue with inheriting items. Ring of barahir etc. just dissapear on death. Any way to fix this?

The item thing is a trait thing, it's not the Monks and Mystics system.

If items aren't being inherited, look for the part in events/on_action_events IIRC, and check out how the other items there are scripted for inheritance. Then just add the item that is not being inherited in the same format. It should be under event 45340 in that file.

Actually, the 'Ring of Barahir' is in that event, however, the issue is that calling 45340 from on_actions has been disabled. To fix, open the 00_on_actions.txt in the common/on_actions folder in the mod, and remove the # at the start of the right line (line 1598 here, although it's best to search for 45340 to be sure).

I have no idea how or why it got commented out. Of course, these item-traits should probably be replaced by artifacts eventually.

All the palantirs are not being inherited either, in fact none of the trait-items in the game seem to be inheritable. I edited out the # in line 1598 and the ring didn't pass down to my heir unfortunately

If it doesn't let me know and I'll take a look at it again. Haven't had much time for ck2 lately unfortunately, though I may take a look at the mod again soon

I don't think that would work with the new version because there are about 600 lines missing from the 00_on_actions file on page 304 in comparison to the one from James Fox's newest update. I have very little experience with this sort of thing so I don't really know what I would have to edit in specific to make it work unfortunately

Edit: Ok so *ehrm* I might be an idiot because apparently editing the # out in line 1598 actually DOES work and I had just closed notepad++ thinking it would save the file automaticly which it didn't. I actually saved it now and item-traits are inheriting just fine, palantirs and all. Sorry about that :p

Here is another version... x06. As before, I've stripped out some graphics and music heavy stuff to reduce the size of the attachment.

Some comments:
  • No real features. I just went through decisions and events with the Validator and fixed many things.
  • Many localizations were added in the above process, although you might not see them.
  • Also, you might notice that most cultures are now 'Feudal' instead of 'Iqta' government-type. For future more polished releases, custom government types should probably be used.

Make sure that the mod/MiddleEarthProject Beta contains common, decisions, events, and map/statics folders afterwards.

what is the approach for the Update? Should all the files just be copied and replace the original files from MEP0.7? Thank you!

Some of the files in the original MEP 0.7 have been removed and might clutter things if left there. So to repeat, after installing the MEP 0.7 (from the link in the first post)...
  • In the newly installed mod (folder mod/MiddleEarthProject Beta), delete the common, decisions, events, and map/statics folders.
  • Then Unpack my file (MEP07x06.7z) into the mod folder, allowing old files to be replaced. Make sure that the mod/MiddleEarthProject Beta contains common, decisions, events, and map/statics folders afterwards.
