Hehe, yeah, eventually we'll make the ring thing more dynamic, so anyone can take it if they capture the ringbearer, or if their army is in the same province as an unlanded ringbearer, or something like that!

As for OS X, hmm... sorry, I barely even know what that is. Mac operating system, IIRC, but have zero experience with such things.

Invaded Lothlorien, upon unpausing the independence event sparked for all of those blasted elves..

Oops, checked, and it was mean_time_to_happen = { 180 }; Should have been DAYS = 180. Fixed for next update.

Mordor seems pretty op - 130k men vs Gondor's 20k

I conquered the kingdom area which includes Minas Tirith in about 10 minutes

A human mind is OP in general.

You'd be surprised. I assassinated the last true heir to Gondor, a woman who had centered her capital somewhere in the north (although this was no Reunited Kingdom, only 3 Gondorian princes remained and most of Eriador was still splintered as it usually was). A Black Numenorean took the throne and the three Princes all became independent without so much as a finger lifted. Needless to say they let me conquer their lands one by one. But if they were human....damn it they'd probably ignore me and just fight over who gets what county in the middle of no where. People are dumb asses like that.

Yeah, any human playing Mordor OR Gondor is overpowered, and can pretty much easily conquer middle-earth... but on AI simulations they're pretty even in the sense that it's about 50/50 who wins - actually Gondor wins something like 60% of the time in my experience.

Long-term we'll have to find mechanisms to balance Gondor and Mordor vs the rest of the world, but it's gonna take a lot of creativity and events to make that happen without it being "cheap", such as automatic civil wars when they reach a certain size and such.

hmm.....am I missing something then? Is there like an event which is supposed to fire which gives Gondor more than 20k guys? Or calls Rohan into the war or something?

cuz I imagine that even AI could win with 130k men against an enemy with 20k

Yeah, if you just attack at game start you can pretty much roll over them. There are 2 scripted wars, that follow the path of the books when playing as Sauron. In the first one, you wait until you get the event to attack Osgiliath. You take that. Then in 11367, there is another war - this is the main assault, where Aragorn comes in with 18000 troops, and if Rohan is still alive, they also send help.

But even in more normal AI-AI mordor/gondor wars, keep in mind the AI limits army sizes to around 50k if you're playing with the latest update. So the AI Mordor will have 2x50k stacks and a 20k stack. Gondor has one 20k stack. But those 20k fight as well as 60-80k of mordor's orcs. So they beat one stack, then another, and more or less they win. You as a player probably made one doomstack of 80-100k, and this completely overwhelmed the Gondorians. The AI doesn't do that. Try playing as Gondor, you'll see that it's quite easy to defeat Mordor when a human runs the war.

that's an interesting problem - maybe supply limits could be set low and attrition punishingly high between Mordor proper and Gondor, so that even the player doesn't doomstack the Gondorians

Dude, I assassinated that bastard and (probably) stopped a good number of events. After taking quite a bit of land I figured it was fair to give myself the ring, seeing as I had already killed the ring bearers but had no clue as to who had the ring or how I'd get it fairly anyways (but come on, I conquered a chunk of Gondor and all of Rohan!). I was pleasantly surprised to see that you guys had an event in which two foolish hobbits are caught walking into Mordor with the Ring C:. Oh and THANK YOU for killing all of those bastards that would dare to declare independence, I felt like I was really spreading the flames of Mordor :^D! But maybe...well, I realized that Noldor forming was meant to counter this, but I think that Eriador (or most of it) along with the Men around Mirkwood(I realize that Dale and the Silvans joined them, but not the Woodsmen) should come around to their side faster. It would make things more challenging and more befitting of a Second Last Alliance ^_^. Oh and I must ask, as I saw in what I believe to be the BR patch a mention of an Olog Hai retinue for Sauron. Playing as him I only have Morgul Guards.

This is very true.

I once held back the wrath of Mordor with Cardolan and Rhudaur.

That won't be possible in the coming update, I think :) Before Mordor made stacks of 10k... now it's 50k. Makes Mordor a lot more challenging, but I'll need to find ways to balance a re-united Kingdom. Perhaps vassals wanting the realm to be split in two, like it was before, since let's face it - it's hard to run Arnor from Minas Tirith, or Gondor from Annunimas. Maybe a -50 relation penalty if these demands aren't met could lead to some factions being formed... it shouldn't be impossible to hold both emperor titles, but it shuold certainly be a lot harder than it is now.

Oh I wouldn't be too sure, give me enough time to build up those kingdoms with Dunedain combat bonuses and I'd feel confident facing anything but a united Noldor invasion.

How are the half-elven events coming along btw?

I've taken the liberty of engineering the creation of half elven dunedain of Isildur's line. Being 'human' half-elven I suspect if paired to a same sort of partner, the pair can exist as rulers for a rather long time since with all the traits stacking, an Isildur numenor blood half-elven should have at least 30 health. So far, haven't been able to let a game run long enough to test the AI lifespan since there was some irony in a Valandil naming his son Meneldil.

Since its just me messing around, I suspect its possible in some weird way to get an 'elven' half-elven on the throne of Arnor or Gondor just by marriages alone since events aren't set up for it yet.

However, what is the estimated lifespan for a character with over 30 health? 300-400 years without incident?
