1.0.1 for HIP 2.7.0.2

This mod lets the Merovingians have another chance. It is entirely historically inaccurate (I assume), but it gives me the feels when ancient dynasties die out so I figured I'd give them another crack at it.

If you've ever bothered looking at the Merovingian dynasty, you'd see that the last Merohing King of the Franks had one son, who died at 10, called Théoderic.

Well in this mod Théoderic died at 887 and had a son, this is how the new family tree goes:

eSOiSZX.png

You'll have noticed a couple of things, 1. Childéric is the Duc of Valois, 2. Bertoare and Childéric are twins and had a kid together (they are married). The twins also have a claim on the kingdoms of France, Lotharingia, Burgundy, Germany/East Frankia, and Aquitaine. This is the most realistic I think compared to the Merovingians holdings before they were usurped by the Carolingians. You'll be able to reconquer your ancestral lands, and maybe even a couple extra kingdoms on the side, who knows? Maybe you'll even be known as the first Long Haired Emperor.

1.0 RELEASED!!!

1.0
Set a death date for new characters
Fixed localisation issues with events showing up incorrectly
Added new events for continued conquest (must still start wars manually except for first, adding events for that wouldn't do anything different)
No random traits for new characters
Fixed event troops
Fixed all events as showing up as certain event
Added nickname gained by completing conquest
Set Kingdoms to not change names when Merohings control them, same as Karlings (e.g. West Francia etc.)
1.0.1
Fixed giving two claims on Lombardy instead of 1 for Lombardy 1 for Bavaria
(Wonder how that happened...)
Added trait cynical for new characters, not surprising they wouldn't favour the church
Extra fix for k_italy known as lombardia not k_lombardy which is titular
CREDITS:

Looks interesting...it's ahistorical indeed but for an alternative scenario it's ok. ;)

Have you played it? I'm happy to hear advice and any bugs/unintended features that occur. Also, looking for help with making an event to give him event troops and declare war on France for his claim.

Not yet. I'll probably give it a go during the weekend. It's not that difficult to add the events you mentioned. I could help you with this at weekend or you could ask @Toa Kraka who is really quick with such matters.

Cheers.

It is interesting to note that a more historically accurate idea would be to place the patrilineal link between the Capetians and
Through who married a Merovingian Princess, the Capetians are both matrilineal and patrilineal descendents of the Merovingians, and thus the true kings of France.

Oooor, it's just good propaganda, perpetuated by a Royal Family that had no true claim...

Nice idea, i always found the merovingans to be interesting.
So i wanted to try your mod, but couldnt find the last merovingian and Theoderic is still dead at age 10. I placed your the files in the mod-folder and activated it along with the newly updated HIP-Module, did I do anything wrong?

Does Merohing.mod look like this?

name="Merohing"
path = "mod/Merohing"
dependencies = { "HIP - Historical Immersion Project" }

And then the credits? That's what it should look like. If it doesn't have the dependency, HIP will overwrite it. In the Merohing folder just check history/characters/frankish.txt.
Right down the bottom there should be four characters, with IDs 10658445, 10658446, 10658447, 10658448. Tell me if all that's correct.

Merohing.mod looks like that, and I also found the characters in the frankish.txt.
But one thing came to mind: i installed HIP with a custom folder name, could this be a problem?
