Tested it. As far as I can tell it does nothing. Played 5 years and no trait apeared on anyone and none of them are available in the ruler designer or via console. Am I missing some step in the install?

Why does the Maiden trait have an 8? 1-7 are the Seven Deadly Sins and Seven Heavenly Virtues in the order of their magnitude.

A few things, that is the old icon and it has since been updated. Second, I didnt even know that so I geuss you learn something new everyday :D.

THE MAIDEN MOD
Having read the game of thrones novels recently, I decided that it would be interesting to have some way to represent someone being a maiden in-game. Therefore I made this mod. It adds in the Maiden trait which is assigned to women that are are either unmarried, not a concubine, or do not have a lover. The event that adds it takes about a month after start and you lose the trait maiden soon after an affair, marriage, or becoming a concubine.

Sorry about this, I haven't updated the image yet. Download the latest version of the mod to see it. Originally, I was making it to be like an 8th virtue as it was relatively important. And yes, the trait is one of the five. THe five traits in this mod are Maiden, Unfaithful, Unflowered, Flowered, and virginity Promised.

FWIW, I used this mod as sort of a template for my own first micro-mod (thank you btw !) and discovered that the path in the Maiden Mod.mod file is backwards - it's mod\Maiden Mod rather than mod/Maiden Mod. I'm still too new at this to know if it makes any difference.

That is probably the problem. First off, im glad to help you with the template. Second, that is most likely a huge problem with why the latest version isn't working, You are the best! And also if you dont mind, I would like to hear more about your micromod, perhaps even incorporate it into the Maiden Mod! If it doesn't fit, I would be happy to host it on my page to bring you some recognition!

I share your sentiment about how this mod or something similar to it would fit in well with the main game. Perhaps I should post something like this in the suggestion forum. As to the next update, that will have to wait until I fix the events issues in 0.3 and I don't have much time for that unfortunately as I am currently having to deal with school and am writing a book.

I am still very confused about the modding syntax in this game - it looks like it should be dead simple (everything is a text file after all) but when you look into it moreclosely you find that you can't do the most basic things like set up a loop, take the value of a game element like Prestige and assign it to a variable, or even do a simple conditional branching structure. And don't get me started on factors and the like - some times they are set increases (Intrigue = 3 does NOT mean Intrigue = 3, it means Intrigue = Intrigue + 3), sometimes they are multiples (mod chances) and sometimes they are even fractions of a percentage increase (decadence ? disease chance ?). At some stage I expect that it will all fall together but for now I am still groping forward.

FWIW, my first micro mod was a rather juvenile affair that added two new traits for female characters only - large boobs and small boobs. The large version adds +2 Intrigue and -1 martial and adds a bit to fertility while also boosting sex_appeal_opinion and spouse_opinion, while the small version adds +2 Martial and -1 Intrigue and adding a bit to Health - the idea being that lacking the ability charm their way out of trouble they'd have to learn how to be more of a tomboy. I even added some nicknames to with these depending upon other traits (eg nick_the_sex_bomb, nick_the_tomboy),vbut then discovered that you don't get a nickname unless you are seriously landed so I haven't seen any of them pop up yet.

The problem I discovered with the above mod was that since I made them heritable traits I am getting 2 year olds with the trait (!), I also used the condition is_female=yes as you did but am still getting males with the trait - probably true for some men, but pretty incongruous in 21 year old warrior types. I'm not sure how or where to post these things yet and have gone on to other things so haven't got back to fixing these problems.

At the moment I am sort of working on four main mods - better decadence (+decadence for LANDLESS characters not the other way round, no decadence invasion but huge neg opinions for high decadence => normal overthrow liege revolts), landless characters (creating new "landed" titles that have no fixed provinces), more character interaction (rumors, editable councilor positions etc) and non-monarchic political systems (democracies, republics, oligarchys etc all created as incapable, unplayable, immortal bodies politic that hold the titles while the player/AI acts as "Regent" - Demogogue, Consul or Autarch etc). I've spent the last two weeks on the Decadence mod and have gotten a bit stuck on adding the relevant opinion modifiers.

Right. I've been doing some debugging on this. As you probably know, running this mod results in female characters receiving "unflowered", and then nothing else happening. The problem, as far as I can determine, is that most of your events use the syntax "has_trait = [trait name]". Confusingly, this condition does not actually exist- the correct syntax for what you want is "trait= [whatever]".

I simply had notepad Replace All to correct this, and events started happening. Characters above 16 years with "unflowered" received an event removing it and adding "flowered".

However, another event then immediately fired to remove "flowered. This seems to be intended, but what I suspect is not working as intended is that, shortly thereafter, the event adding "unflowered" fired again. The reason for this is that the event to add unflowered (event 5) contains the syntax "NOT = { character_flag = is_a_woman }". This is not a recognized trigger- the correct syntax would be "NOT = { has_character_flag = is_a_woman }". Yes, this is a different format than the way of checking for trait, which caused problems above. Yes, this does seem calculated to cause maximum confusion. No, it wasn't my idea.

Meanwhile, Event M.1, to assign the "maiden" trait, was not firing at all. The reason for this was that its trigger included, within the "NOT" block, "num_of_children = 0". This meant it would never fire for anyone with zero or more children. Since negative children are not a thing, this meant it would never fire for anyone. Changing this to "num_of_children = 1" (still within the NOT) allows it to fire for women with less than one child, but now the game hung up and crashed when the event fired. For reasons I do not begin to comprehend, changing the event number from M.1 to M.333 (and changing the next event from M.2 to M.334, but no other events needed to be changed) fixed this, rendering the basic system playable. I also took the liberty of adding "has_character_flag = is_a_woman" to the conditions of the first event, so unflowered characters are not treated as maidens, and of adding NOT = {trait = virginity_promised } to the conditions for the maidenhead removing event, so that pledging virginity actually had an effect.

Next, I tried out said system for pledging one's virginity. First of all, the event (M.8) has "is_triggered_only = yes", but no decision or event that I could find triggers it, so it will never trigger. Triggering it manually by console, and then immediately char-switching to the husband so as to recieve the event he get to choose whether to accept this (M.9), resulted in said event triggering, but the option to allow this for one's wife did not give her the new trait. Looking at the event, I discovered it was trying to add the trait "vigrinity_promised". Changing this to "virginity_promised" should have fixed this, but it still did not function. I discovered that the traits file contained the line "###Other Traits###virginity_promised = {". Since "virginity_promised = {" is after a "#" on the same line, it is treated as commented out and ignored. I moved it down to the start of a new line, and everything seemed to work.

I am still very confused about the modding syntax in this game - it looks like it should be dead simple (everything is a text file after all) but when you look into it moreclosely you find that you can't do the most basic things like set up a loop, take the value of a game element like Prestige and assign it to a variable, or even do a simple conditional branching structure. And don't get me started on factors and the like - some times they are set increases (Intrigue = 3 does NOT mean Intrigue = 3, it means Intrigue = Intrigue + 3), sometimes they are multiples (mod chances) and sometimes they are even fractions of a percentage increase (decadence ? disease chance ?). At some stage I expect that it will all fall together but for now I am still groping forward.

FWIW, my first micro mod was a rather juvenile affair that added two new traits for female characters only - large boobs and small boobs. The large version adds +2 Intrigue and -1 martial and adds a bit to fertility while also boosting sex_appeal_opinion and spouse_opinion, while the small version adds +2 Martial and -1 Intrigue and adding a bit to Health - the idea being that lacking the ability charm their way out of trouble they'd have to learn how to be more of a tomboy. I even added some nicknames to with these depending upon other traits (eg nick_the_sex_bomb, nick_the_tomboy),vbut then discovered that you don't get a nickname unless you are seriously landed so I haven't seen any of them pop up yet.

The problem I discovered with the above mod was that since I made them heritable traits I am getting 2 year olds with the trait (!), I also used the condition is_female=yes as you did but am still getting males with the trait - probably true for some men, but pretty incongruous in 21 year old warrior types. I'm not sure how or where to post these things yet and have gone on to other things so haven't got back to fixing these problems.

At the moment I am sort of working on four main mods - better decadence (+decadence for LANDLESS characters not the other way round, no decadence invasion but huge neg opinions for high decadence => normal overthrow liege revolts), landless characters (creating new "landed" titles that have no fixed provinces), more character interaction (rumors, editable councilor positions etc) and non-monarchic political systems (democracies, republics, oligarchys etc all created as incapable, unplayable, immortal bodies politic that hold the titles while the player/AI acts as "Regent" - Demogogue, Consul or Autarch etc). I've spent the last two weeks on the Decadence mod and have gotten a bit stuck on adding the relevant opinion modifiers.

I am so sorry I dint notice this when you posted it, Stuff has just been crazy with me recently. That said, I actually had thought of making a "Breast size" mod at one point, so you're okay. Also, anyone have an idea on how to change a username? I think 'Parha nick_the_sex_bomb' would be an awesome name :). As to you Rags, I still think the brest size idea kinda fits with the theme of my mod, so maybe I could host it as an alternate download for those who wanted? Its up to you but I think it could be fun. As to your other mods, if you need help with graphics thats really all I have going for me. I can do flags, decision, and traits if you ever need some help with those. Finally, do you know how to operate mediafire? That's the main way people make their mods available. You upload a file and it allow you to copy and past a download link, which you could put on anything pretty much so people could download it.

I will take this moment to give you all the thanks. I have been really busy with school(starting to gear up for EOCT and all), writing my book, and all around life stuff (Doesn't anyone else just hate it when that happens :laugh:) and I have had very little time to work in the modding community. That said, I would like to thak you greatly for all of these pointers you have made, you are so awesome. That said, I will make the changes and hopefully by the end of this upcomming week end (I am writing this at 8:30 PM on Sunday night), the new fixed 0.3 will be up. Then the magnificent 0.4 will be up sometime next year if I continue this speed! *Pom-Poms go flying in the air*I want to thank all of the people that have downloaded this mod and before I f***ed up the coding, actually enjyed it. Keep susbcribed people, I will make content for this mod until CK3, then I guess I will just have to learn to code a new Maiden Mod! Go ahead and download Monotheism Rising, As they told me they have intentions of including this mod and I want them to get all the players they can :laugh:

Right now, I am really only involved in the mod an Essarian Hymn and my Character Culling mod I plan on doing some day. I do have some files on my computer from a Papers, Please mod I started last year, but I may not even think about that 'till Summer.
