For all of Gregory of Tour's hatred of paganism, Sidonius's tendency to not mention a lot of things he should really have mentioned makes for a less clear picture. He neglects to mention Syagrius/Aegidius, a 467 journey to Rome (and his elevation to the city prefecture in 468), and his consecration as bishop in 470, to name a few. Sidonius's letters are far less complete than Gregory's works, in certain regards.
