Did you make it so players can't assault the holding? Because every time I try I loose soldiers and the defenders don't loose moral or men, and I don't think a healthy person dies at 18 or younger, were you trying to make sure that your healthy Heir dies, and the players crappy unhealthy child lives? because that's all I am seeing.
You could be assaulting without enough troops. And the Random Number God could be hating you in terms of children.

Which is actually a good way to get into something I wanted to bring up/ask about:

What is the point of having children penalized with lower health in the younger years? I find that all of these dead children leave my dynasty hanging by a thread, and it does theoretically bloat the save file size. That being said, I was wonder why that is included: I would like to hear a designer's POV on the matter so I could be convinced. I was also wondering if it would be possible to remove that modifier, or at least stop whatever is triggering it. I wouldn't know how to do that, so if someone could spare a few moments to give me instruction, that would be great.

I apologize if I sound condescending: definitely not my intention at all. I freaking love this mod. It is just this child death issue that bugs me a little bit.

Why has everyone forgotten the tutorial post i made on how to svn?
It makes me cry.

fine, I'll add a link in the FAQs, assuming people read the FAQ's :laugh:

Did you make it so players can't assault the holding? why? it's entirely up to you to assault or not
note of course that the ratio needed is much higher now (around 20:1 )

as for your heirs dying, it's entirely random, but right now children are more likely to die in the current version because of unnoticed modifiers during the integration of VIET

You could be assaulting without enough troops. And the Random Number God could be hating you in terms of children.

Which is actually a good way to get into something I wanted to bring up/ask about:

honestly? it's a VIET modifier I didn't notice (because.... there just a shetton of stuff in the mod :rofl: )

I kept it in for the next version, but removed the health maluses since they can now be adjusted directly in the defines.lua

as for editing the modifier, just go to VIET modifiers in the common/event_modifiers folder and look for young_age, then just remove the health thingy line in there

If I don't have the portrait packs, will I need to get them to avoid certain cultures having no face?

aye

just a qucik question :x i know it has been discussed somewhere in this forum, but i dont want to read through the last 100 pages.
do you plan to integrate the umbra spherae map? i know it would be alot of work, but it would fit so good into the story o:

we are going to partially integrate it in the future
more accurately, tweak and crop it until India.

but that's for the far future for now

I forgot to ask as always when are we expecting the next update :p

I'm banking on an end-of-the-month update instead, so that I could have time after my semester ends to go over files in detail.

@ councillors: after one month of unsuccessful attempts, I would really like to fix my SVN repository problem... Basically I can't commit stuff. That really limits the extent of my potential contribution.

- In google code itself, whenever I try to upload a file, it gives me an "unknown servor error" most of the times;
- Toirtoise SVN keeps my local copy updated but when I ask to commit, it does not recognize my Google numahr id and password...

Is it possible that my account does not enjoy full committing rights? Do we need to use different IDs through Toirtoise SVN than the gmail one???

you have full rights in the SVN though.

benblu's guide should give a general gist on how to configure the SVN properly.

ah, but reading your post, it seems you can update your copy properly.

in that case, the password you need is not you gmail account password, but a random-generated one.
you can view your password here: https://code.google.com/hosting/settings

your username is your gmail account though

random stuff: I've finished "migrating" the posts to page 701, as well as adding new stuff to the FAQs (as if people read it).
The list of bloodlines and sir kulinski's flowcharts are also in the Calibration Coordinates as usual.

@jmberry:
this next request is a matter of absolute selfishness on my side but....
since for some reason the post-order got adjusted again (I'm assuming a mod tweaked something somewhere like a ninja ), your post is now the first-post in page 701. Normally, I wouldn't really care, but since I'm using page 701 as a sort of integrated-portal for all documentations, can I ask if you could help assist me suppressing my pseudo-OCD tendencies and delete the post where you posted the list of bloodline-candidates? I already saved it in the calibration coordinates, and seeing that innocent post on the top of the page just sparks my pseudo-OCD triggers. Is it fine if I ask you to delete it, for my mental health? :laugh: Of course, you have the right to refuse :p

@futuregary:
I just remembered, but could I ask if you could change the localisation for "You have been at peace for too long.... you lose 1 Prestige" to Authority instead?

@SVN users:
just to double check, the warrior cult buildings now persist throughout save/reloading right?

I'll be revising most of our localisations soon, Riknap. I've been checking Arumba's videos and we have a ton of misplaced localisations. I believe Futuregary is quite occupied right now with his share of the work, so I'll do them instead.

yay. finally, the forums returned. I was suffering massive withdrawal symptoms....

@DarkReborn/jmberry:
thanks! much appreciated

@DR:
for one thing, as I noted, placeholder localisations for religious descriptions will help alleviate the "under construction" feel a lot.

@Ivir:
it's as SirKunlinski said.
well, more accurately, 5 gold and 5 authority actually.

check the Gameplay Guides link in my sig/the OP for a comprehensive list

I'll use Futuregary's religions guide for descriptions, some of them are inaccurate for LI, but they'll make an OK placeholder. Also reformed religions will lack descriptions for now.

Okay so some interesting bugs playing as the Grand Mayor of Nova Carthago. Declaring war on my neighboring Mithraic christian nation, I was surprised to not only be fighting an immortal god, but also being spammed over and over again with duel events. In one battle there were 9 EVENTS regarding duels, and even though I killed him in battle, HE DIDNT DIE! He just kept on going, took no negative traits, and I got maimed! Furthermore, my maiming went away AND SOMEHOW BLINDED ME! What the hell is going on?

that'll work. you might want to add an indicator that the text is a placeholder too (like an astersik? ), so that we don't forget :laugh:

i cant use the enter key anymore???? how do i fix this
the mod uses Arumba's shortcuts

just use "c" instead of enter.

Is there any way to revert the font and get rid of the cloud coverage? It's killing the mod for me, and I'd love to play it where the game LOOKS more like vanilla and FEELS more like Lux Invicta.
Thanks!

well, if you do want to make it look like exactly vanilla, you'll need to delete the map/terrain folder, most of the content of the map folder (saving the adjacencies, province, position, and portage files IIRC), the gfx/trees folder, and the gfx/mapfont files.

if you just want to remove the FOW clouds and the font, then just delete the mapfont files in the gfx folder and the fogofwar file in the map/terrain folder

I guess I should add these two in the faq's as well huh...

edit: alright, I added them in

How do I get rid of the cloud and calligraphy effects?
You can revert the fog of war to vanilla by deleting the map/terrain/Fogowar.dds file, and revert the map font to vanilla by deleting the gfx/Mapfont.fnt and gfx/Mapfont.dds files.

How do I use hotkeys in this mod?
The mod uses Arumba's Keyboard Shortcuts + Interface Adjust mod and keeps it updated regularly, so the shortcuts in that page are exactly the shortcuts in-game (except the ` key, which we transferred to the \ key as it was a hassle in using console for debugging).

now there's no excuse for that :rofl:

that.... is... most interesting.
I'd really love to know as well...

edit: looking at the files, it looks like it can randomly show up somwhere. I'll have to add a potential = no there huh...

as for the maimed being blind, that's part of the mod and fully intended. I forgot which event had it, but it's there...

still, a Valentian Highlander huh....

:rofl:

well if the maimed-blinded is intentional fine, but could it be lower than 25 percent? I mean, if you get maimed by getting stabbed a lot for example in the chest, the possibility that you get an infection and lose your eyes is a bit less than a quarter of the time.

well if the maimed-blinded is intentional fine, but could it be lower than 25 percent? I mean, if you get maimed by getting stabbed a lot for example in the chest, the possibility that you get an infection and lose your eyes is a bit less than a quarter of the time.

is it just maimed->blind though? IIRC, there were different options in that event. it's been a few months since I've thought about that event though, so I may be mistaken. IIRC, futuregary was the one who tweaked the event to its current form, so he could correct me (and remind me where the event was located :D )

I'll need to look into it again once my semester ends

There were no other options in the event. It just popped up and said that my maimed had been healed, I got scarred, negative 1.5 health and that I had a 25% chance of getting blinded. Also, after I killed him in the duel, I dueled him again and captured him, which was also not registered by the game.

Another little problem I'm happening. I can't seem to take any concubines while my vassals seem to have no problem with it. The only thing I can think of that might be the cause is my lack of DLC. I don't have Sword of Islam, The Republic or The Old Gods. Just waiting for a sale.
