- Yes, Norse_war and norse_pagan both reform to norse_pagan_reformed. In average each reformed religion cover 2 unreformed religions. This is a decision to help keep things manageable as well as for design reasons... maybe we should give a martial soul to norse_pagan_reform? I think not, for 2 reasons: 1. the reformed religion still has a Norse civilization, which to a large extent works as a Martial soul on modifiers; 2. A reformed Norse religion would, in my understanding, follow a Carolingian model of institutionalization (see Normands becoming relatively peaceful elite nobles in conquered lands) rather than a constant state of warfare. A recent discussion in the Britannia mod reminded that some of the most important causes of Viking raids were material hardship.

- Thanks dowdpride for the feedback on the new religious balance. All input will be very useful in this regard, as the far-reaching changes introduced gradually post-TOG must have a tremendous balance impact. I am aware that we will need to balance things down the road... so every one is encouraged to share impressions in this regard!

Im only running one module. I have tried a new game and the same happens when my ruler changes.. Every month my authority goes 30 down until it has gone between 0 and 30. (I have 2+ every month).

This time it happened sooner, so i think it happens regardless of game time. My new rulers stat is: 15/7/6/2/2. And he's a depressed sociopath. I don't remember what my other character had.

Im gaining 2 a month. I didn't lose any while i had a regency, but has soon as my ruler came of age the authority dropped from 150 to below 0>30

It happens monthly and makes the game unplayable for me :(

EDIT:

I just noticed, the same happens with my money. I'll try restarting it and see if it continues...

are you sure you're not doing any of these?

I am really enjoying the update, however I have noticed some odd things and some rather annoying ones. The survey realm event is nice, but perhaps make it happen every 5-10 years as opposed to every 1? It can get rather annoying literally less than a year after you just surveyed it to be bothered with it again. Also, why does telling someone to end their plot cost money as well as authority? I get the authority bit, but I am the ruler of the country. I shouldn't have to pay someone to stop plotting, they should do it because I will kill them if they don't. Also, noticed that some religions are significantly easier for the AI to reform than others. For example, the Lettigalians have already taken all of their required holy sites, but the Druidic nations are rather out of luck due to the spread of them and who controls them.

Aye, I'll look into making the survey realm less frequent.

As for ending a plot costing money? I've been reconsidering making it cost no gold but authority instead in the future (especially since authority gain is slightly higher than intended right now , which is kinda good as well anyway ) - but the justification I had in the past is that it was as bribery. But I've been reconsidering since then. The Authority requirement is fully required and justified though - a ruler who is unrespected ( barely any authority ) should not expect his realm to listen to him really. I might as well ask a random stranger to do something than runs counter to their short-term ambitions

as for the Lettigallians...
@Numahr: any thoughts?

still, if the religious sites are at appropriate locations, then them reforming early on isn't exactly a bad thing. Sure, it's bad balance... but when was Lux Invicta ever balanced in terms of religions and relative nation powers?
(note: that said, I do try to balance the relative strength of realms in terms of size - but definitely not religion. One religion being in a way "stronger" or more advantageous than another is mostly intended... mostly )

@ riknap: yeah, you are partially right that a perfect balance is not intended... for example, I am OK with Celts having a hard time becoming a super power, as their golden age, sorry to say this, is quite over by LI's time. But still, I would say, let's keep an educated look at it so that the trends in this universe remain plausible and interesting. It can be quite easy to tweak 1 or 2 things to correct an unwelcome trend.

Pre-TOG, I had noted that Scholarly and Statist souls were more successful on the long term, which I kind of liked. It will be interesting to re-assess these things once we are done with implementation. And if Reformed Finnic Pagans always own the world, well, we'll look at them with renewed interest...

indeed, I've made it max out warscore (per battle) at 50, so that it'll take multiple decisive battles (mostly likely involving one of the many mercs available ) and/or enough occupation for victory. With ticking warscore also far reduced, it's certainly possible to turn tables in a war (I played a test game wherein I once lost battles to the point of -75% warscore ... but with enough counterattacks, gold from unexpected sources (banishing a courtier ), I managed to get warscore to +8% and have enough momentum to win all the way ).
that said, since levy regeneration by default is much slower than vanilla, most of these wars will indeed be fought with mercs rather than levies really.

also, did you guys increase child mortality rates? As the now King of Eire/Elba and Emperor of Britannia I have lost 6 out of 9 children.
They did something that indirectly increased mortality rates, part of it is the -1.5 health that there integration of ck2+ traits caused.

I'm not sure OS has something to do with what you quoted but....
still, I neither understand why he'll be losing authority randomly, unless he's been spending them on diplomatic actions (which to be fair is not very well documented, I know. )

also, did you guys increase child mortality rates? As the now King of Eire/Elba and Emperor of Britannia I have lost 6 out of 9 children.

I honestly do not remember what I tweaked to increase child mortality rates right now
the specific settings in the defines.lua LI uses is exactly the same as vanila's

edit: or maybe not. an older ck2+ version I have uses 0 for that setting. It's possible my vanilla copy has been edited by me as well ...
ah well, just change
Code:
NATURAL_DEATH_CHANCE_AGE_0 = 5,					-- Natural deaths per decade out of 10000 people: Age 0-9
to a lower value like 1 or 0 or something for now, while I rebalance them eventually...

They did something that indirectly increased mortality rates, part of it is the -1.5 health that there integration of ck2+ traits caused.

I just looked. that's not the case though. there aren't any traits that affect childhood....
what's odd is that I revalidated my vanilla install and it definitely is set at 5 as well

still, lowering the setting above should reduce child mortality
but I think it's quite nice to have children dying early on - meaning you're never safe from being disinherited by another dynasty, plus it fits in with LI's theme really (if just a bit too strong though ... I'll lower it and test it in the future).

I'm not sure OS has something to do with what you quoted but....
still, I neither understand why he'll be losing authority randomly, unless he's been spending them on diplomatic actions (which to be fair is not very well documented, I know. )
OS changes how the game reads the files so it might be reading something wrong, that and if its OS Win 7 or 8 it'll be easier to replicate and hopefully fix.
EIDt and I'm even not using ALL of your post as a quote :D

that'd be one hell of a bug though if the OS is causing the game to bug out

there are three Legio I

Legio I Lux Invicta in Imperium Romanum
Legio I Roma Victrix in S.P.Q.R.
Legio I Italica in Panormous

actually a bunch of the legions have the same numbers, Legio VI Victrix in Neapolis and Legio VI Hispania in Valentina

Also Legio II Augusta in Dumnonia has the same name as Legio VII Augusta in Ravenna

I'm sure the names and numbers of vassal legions aren't that high on the list, but its just something that made me scratch my head while looking at the character select screen.

I was not complaining, I was just curious! Still sad my genius son died at one though, and my awesome heir died at 27 :( still, my current one is nice.
I'm sure you weren't though :p

still, it's not exactly nicely balanced right now, and I totally didn't really notice it (well, I did notice my children dying, but I was paying more attention to other variables like combat general realm balance and the three "currencies" to give much thought to it )

I somehow have reason to believe the similarly numbered legions are fully intentional on Shaytana's part ( Pretenders and all ) . I mean all those were part of the Intact Roman Empire after all, so having legions claiming the same name/number is no different really from the HRE/Moscow/Istanbul claiming to be the heir of Rome .

@Symphorien

you might want to try this

well there ARE a bunch of Legio I in reality, Legio I Parthica, they were designated like this Legio (roman numeral starting at I) (Legion name type, ie; Parthica, Italica, Macedonica, Ferrata often was about where they were from or known for)

Its because the numbers only related to the name and the name was what distinguished the legions. Legio III Parthica roughly means The 3rd Legion from Parthia and Legio I Roma Victrix means The Victorious 1st Legion from Rome with Victix being an honour they earned at some point in history.

EDIT: some of the legions like Legio V Macedonica earned multiple titles and its full name was Legio V Macedonica VII Pia VII Fidelis meaning Seven times loyal The 5th Legion from Macedon Seven time Loyal Seven times Faithful, it earned the titles Pia and Fidelis 7 times over the course of its history, an accomplishment that no other Legion came close to.

checking it up on wikipedia, that does seem to be the case indeed.

so technically stuff like Legio I Italica would be First Legion Italica , being the "first legion" of panormus, and/or a descendant of the historical Legio I Italica. Legio I Lux Invicta would be more pompous, translating roughly like the First Legion of the Invincible Light.

or something to that extent

just raise 'em and use them to wreck havoc

It would be fun to be able to create more legions over time, though that would have to be a hefty cost in both money, authority, and hold very specific territory. Also maybe eventually a way to grant the Legions honours?
Edit: or be able to revive legions if you control the territory, and have an empire. Cause I want my Legio V Macedonica and Legio III Parthica
Edit: I post too much  and Edit to much also :p

that'd be nice really. it's a shame the vassal mercenary system is fixed though. the only "legions" that could exist are those that have been predefined

that said, it's perfectly possible to "capture" foreign legions. usually conquering the realm with one results in their vassal legion being transferred to you (I'm not sure of the exact mechanics, but I've definitely had multiple vassal legions belonging to foreign realms before ).
so the SPQR could for example essentially end up with multiple vassal legions in the process of reconquering the territory.
(of course, it's still a matter of affording them anyway, but vassal mercs are still cheaper than regular mercs, if but more costly to maintain as balance )

Well, I tried saving up for a glorious conquest to try and get Alexandria (four provinces) in one strike. Bad idea. All I did was vassalize an extremely angry muslim who doesn't want to give me anything.
