If I wished to add in the Mongols, could I simply paste in the vanilla Mongol events? If so, would it work for my save game (year is only like 1090).
it won't work, if these posts are to be considered.

Damn. Would be a great late-game challenge. This Sino-Hellenic 'reverse Alexander' invasion sounds like it'd be particularly fun.

A sub-mod in the mean time would be fantastic. Doesn't seem like you'd be changing the mods direction by simply including an optional sub-mod.

Before implementing a Sino-Hellenic reverse invasion, we'd have to decide (1) What the civilization modifiers would be, (2) What religion it would be, and (3) if not an already implemented religion, what the SELIN modifiers would be.

out of curiosity, how many times has this been brought up? I can only remember two (this one and the more recent one).

In the meantime, is there any chance of a working importation of the vanilla Mongol invasion events? My imagination likes the idea of a huge clash between the Zoroastrian Sassanids and Mongol hordes. Or a battle of the horse nomads in the East as the Huns attempt to fend off the Mongols for domination of the Urals..

Had a look around this thread and saw quite a good idea:

Orinsul;14752984Also a Mongol invasion would probably make sense as the Great Sino-Hellenic army subduing the steppes and marching ever west would drive them out and theyd have to go somewhere and with the east what theyre running from the the south [presumably said:
under the rule of indo-hellens likely allied with their cousins in China and the north all cold the divided west is both and only and the best place for those hordes of displaced horse nomads to turn to. So having a couple medium sized Mongol invasions in the century before the, much much greater, Sino-Hellenic one would make sense.

A few smallish Mongol invasions into Eastern Europe than the large Sino-Hellenic one from the Middle East.

http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum...icta&p=14810252&highlight=mongol#post14810252

This guy seems to have gotten the invasion more compatible but still with some minor errors regarding free soldiers and Mongol characters popping up all around the place.

Updated LIBERT3 to v10j (the second imaginary update - because current is an i [sub][I should just die] [/sub])

Increased mercenary (and holy order) hire cost by a factor of 2.5, while decreasing non-vassal mercs maintenance cost by a factor of 2.5 (twice as expensive as retinues) and vassal mercs slightly higher than vanilla (150% of retinue cost).
Increased holy-order gold-to-piety conversion cost to 30% (from 25%) and vassal mercenaries to 70% (from 50%).
Made tactic duration shorter (another preliminary modification) from 18 days to 9 days, 12 days to 6 days, and 6 days to 4 days, to make them change more-often (feedback would be appreciated to assist in further tactic overhaul design and balancing).
Made auxiliary tradition traits hidden (which was the original plan anyway - I just got reluctant since I enjoyed making the localisation, though the make-shift icons are so bad that they were enough to make me reconsider).
Removed the same-opinion bonus of auxiliary traits while keeping the last-tier vassal opinion bonus (the mercantile one keeps it for the three tiers since it's part of its flavour bonus).
Corrected a typo with tradition traits.

Hm, last suggestion regarding Blood of... traits, though it will probably not affect me much if you don't, pending the answer to the second question:
Why can't Blood of... be handled like phlegmatic/etc? Those don't seem to tax the system overmuch, though I don't know the specifics. Alternately, would an on-birth mini-event be that taxing on the system?

Secondary, will the AI start mixing about 8 blood traits over time? Actually I'm not sure that'll deter me much, as long as I can find un-blooded NPCs, I just won't cheat with blood mixing. It bothers me to no end that I need to play an unbroken line of dudes to have a blood trait at all, and I don't even generally have one. I'm mostly just curious, the AI is so stupid it can probably use the line of 8 blood traits.

Where do you get this "8 blood traits" figure from? There's currently 63 blood traits. The humours are assigned randomly, I'm sure you wouldn't want blood traits assigned randomly. And you don't have to play an unbroken line of men to have a blood trait, you just have to arrange for your gals to marry into some other unbroken line of dudes... or even back into some other unbroken males line of dudes tracing back to your original character... or go elective, and select another branch that has had an unbroken male line of dudes.

for starters, as rich pointed out: there are only a couple of humour combinations. there's a bucketful of blood traits.

even assuming you ignore that, it goes down to how exactly you want to make the blood-traits inherited. remember that blood traits have health and stat-bonuses to them, so stacking bloodtraits will make characters semi-immortal and omnipotent (unless that was the "subtle" plan Shaytana had all along regarding the breeding program hidden mini-game he posted about). Making only one blood-trait take precedence over another is even difficult since you'll need to write maintenance events that will remove blood-traits inherited via the (non-ruler) father in matrilineal marriages, and doing the right triggers and event combinations could easily make a rather large file.

... incidentally, this is why I just made tradition traits agnatic as well instead of trying to create maintenance variants (and there are 3~4 variants only too)

Why is it that as Duke of Iceland, controlling both counties gives me 200-300 troops, whereas giving my son 1 of the counties he can give me 1200? Seems a bit weird...

regarding mercenaries:
I noticed I could still see vassal mercs of other realms (or am I missing something?)
also, is hiring cost tied to unit size? because I'm getting something like 631.8 for 3370 units (400 li 1800 hi 300 pi 600 ar 150 lc 100 kn), and I'm feeling that this is... a bit bad (granted, I did increase cost to make the AI less likely to hire them...).

That is indeed weird.
Playing Sweden (Svíaríki), me holding a county and my (in that case) daughter holding a county was a difference of 80 men (her vassals liked her more and the góðar had a better opinion of her, 220 into 300) - it was a small difference, not a "x4" difference :p

I'm having problems with black faces. I have all DLCs and I've already played ~100 ingame years until the black faces started appearing. At first it's only a few characters on the vassal or invite to plot screen that are missing faces, but as soon as I select one of these characters, all other characters get black faces as well.

Restarting the game fixes the problem for most characters, but some are still affected.
I'm using 0.6g and LIBERT3v10i (started the game with LIBERT3v10e)

for starters, as rich pointed out: there are only a couple of humour combinations. there's a bucketful of blood traits.
There's still only one event, at some point after birth, that may change a Humour, IIRC.

Where do you get this "8 blood traits" figure from?
That was an example of how many may get stacked by the AI after just making them fully congenital on my local game. The AI doesn't know how to do selective breeding, but who knows what'll happen after a century or two. Obviously I could play pokemon with them, but why bother?

The humours are assigned randomly, I'm sure you wouldn't want blood traits assigned randomly.
You can't check the parents, and assign one or the other's Blood traits, in an event after birth? Or rather, check it cleanly?

And you don't have to play an unbroken line of men to have a blood trait, you just have to arrange for your gals to marry into some other unbroken line of dudes...
That's not really better at all if I just want to maintain my single line's trait. That's actually more work than playing Pokemon with blood traits...
And just so we're clear, maintaining an unbroken line of men is generally easy - I am lamenting its necessity, because I tend to prefer playing women.

... I doubt libert3 would have any effect on portrait faces... at least it theoretically shouldn't

though since you mentioned restarting the game fixes some of the portraits, I have to ask if you did the 2gb fix (I'm guessing you did, but might as well ask). and does re-restarting the game (and maybe the computer) fix it?

There's still only one event, at some point after birth, that may change a Humour, IIRC.

you see, each trait would require a specific event written for it. but that's not the problem. the problem are the maintenance events - each event that checks for the (landed) mother's trait (with an unlanded father) and removes the specific father's trait requires a specific event. I'm not sure if it's possible to put a "remove_trait = OR={list of non-mother traits}" in the option, but if it were that would mean at least an extra maintenance event - if it WEREN'T possible, then the required number of events is 63! (63 factorial), or 1.982x10^87.
You would also need an extra set of 63 events if the father is landed as well - you'll need to define triggers so that one of them takes precedence. If we assume the child is in the mother's lands means that the mother's blood trait is senior, then we need another maintenance event that removes the agnatic father's-bloodline.
Assuming it is possible (I haven't tried it yet and only thought of it right now), then that would mean 189 events minimum. Technically you could write the three events, then just copy > replace-all > paste-into-master-file, but that's just tedious.
