Right so the Julians are his decendents in Shay's timeline and the Julio-Argeadai are a mix of them and Alexander's dynasty? It seems like they should have both bloodline traits or a totally new one.
No. Julian (Flavius Claudius Julianus) lived in the 4th Century and is from the Constantinian dynasty, and has nothing to do with the Julio-Argeaday, which are descendants of Augustus.
Since Augustus married a Greek woman of the Argead dynasty, the Imperial dynasty are the Julio-Argeads.
Right, does anyone think they should be re-branded as something less similar then? Augustus-Argead or something?
I don't care about confusion, History is confusing. They're the Julio-Argeads, there's nothing else to add on. Augustus was a Julius righfully after Caesar adopted him. Also, it was Shaytana's choice.
On a diffrent note, I've always thought that Julian is one of those historical actors that could have radically changed history given the chance.
Not so much, since when he got the power Christianity was already quite established. He didnt dismantle the Church, he just, basically, gave other faiths the same rights Christianity had.
One that really could have changed the state of things, and dramatically, was Maxentius, the roman usurper Constantine fought and defeated. Had Maxentius won the battle of the Milvine Bridge and killed Constantine there... say goodbye to Christianity as we know it.
Another one would be Pertinax, since he proved to be an outstanding statesman during the small time he ruled, before the Roman soldiers killed him for being a jerk (that is, making them obey and have discipline and abide the law).
Yet another one: Alaric, had he decided to do what his successor Atawulf wanted to do: create a Gothic Empire on the ruins of the Roman. Alaric was too much a Roman in his education and career, but Atawulf was not, and he wanted to bring more Goth flavour into Rome (only, he had to confort himself with Spain and Southern France).
