I've modified those vanilla events somewhat... they weren't even in Lux folder, no wonder I wasn't sure where they were. :)

I am now doing a traits revision with a focus on putting health boni in mostly.

I am thinking I am going to give the Blood of _____ traits 1 health bonus across the board to keep those dynasties alive while at it.

I refrain from adding more opinion modifiers via traits there's tons already and more coming in via religious modifiers - I find that opinion modifiers via traits are cumulative generators of lag.

All Blood of _____ got +1 health now on top of the stats.

So far today I have:
-fixed some events and localisation
-revamped some traits
-added health to a lot of traits
-changed health of ALL of my starting rulers to a huge 9 across the board
-increased fertility
-added a +1 health to all blood traits

I am going to finnish looking into traits then I am going to add more flavor events centered on stats boni so you get higher stats (atm stats are disastrous across the board) and less stressed events... I still don't think there's enough stress but hey I'll make people happy I guess.

One of several events (some if not all of which are vanilla) that trigger when a friend or some member of your court is a heretic, without checking if you are of the same heresy. With the prevalence of heterodox faiths in Lux Invicta, these really need a trigger revision.

Here's the event's header and trigger section:
Code:
character_event = {
	id = 100180
	desc = "EVTDESC100180"
	picture = GFX_evt_heretic

	age = 16
	prisoner = no

	trigger = {
		war = no
		in_command = no
		num_of_friends = 1
		scaled_wealth = 0.5
		NOT = {
			religion_group = muslim
		}
		NOT = {
			has_character_modifier = heretic_friend_timer
		}
		any_friend = {
			war = no
			in_command = no
			prisoner = no
			OR = {
				is_heretic = yes
				NOT = {
					religion = ROOT
				}
			}
		}
	}
That is_heretic = yes inside the OR is almost certainly the culprit. I don't think it or the OR itself is needed, just the test on NOT = { religion = ROOT }; maybe eliminate the preceding test for muslims as well. (Plenty of heterodox muslims in this world.)

That should fix it.

I think main problem in this die-off syndrome is unrealistic age in which people die. In real medieval there was a lot of children dying (as with above mentioned Capet dynasty), but when they survived to adulthood chances of death dropped rapidly until their 50's, especially among the royalty and nobility. But in this game, while old age deaths are simulated acordingly, there are very little chance that children will die. Worse thing is totally random "natural causes" death wiping most of the 20-50 aged men. I played really long game as the Huns in 0.4 version of Lux Invicta, got enormous empire with dozens of vassals and while i observed them, maybe 1 on 5 dynasties lasted more than 2 generations due to that random russian roulette "natural causes" among adult men. Even if count women there was at most 3 more generation until random death wiped them or dumb AI married all their daughters patrilinearly thus ending their own dynasty (that was unintentional i think, cause i think patrilinear marriage happend to 3rd and younger daughters which inherited land most of the time due to their older siblings dying from random "natural causes" while being in their 20's or 30's without a heir).

natural causes deaths are the hardcoded ones that nothing can be done about.

My last lux ruler [the starting king of avaria] went until his 60s and so current character is late-40s and still alive but thats just two examples so who can tell and my last game of this mod was quite a few updates ago, and they were wellish lived then but alot has changed in the mod since then so its probably not relevant.

I will make an effort in the future to add more counts with high starting health to the map in the future... they won't get coas or dna but they will get dynasties... not now though.

I am now currently adding events that give stats boni... once I'm done with a batch of them I'll load my aar up and see how things go.

Now playing 05b as the Umayyads and it's really REALLY bad - starting ruler died in his 50's (despite being a stressed cripple most of his life), but he's got lots of children (4 wives and fertility works quite good), but then 3 of his sons get to be rulers, not even one of them survived until age of 30 - all of them damn "natural causes". It's not game over, as one more is out there, but it's not really playable... (a pity, it was going really good)

The stat growth did seem pretty poor, but I did kind of like those stress events. I think people are too used to automatically choosing only positive traits from vanilla events, and never really consider choosing a negative trait here to avoid stressed, lunatic, or possessed.

Oh, and from your AAR... is it possible to tie blood traits to a dynasty instead of having it be a straight male line only inherited trait? That might also keep some silly things from happening with Matrilineal Marriage and having your dynasty getting some other Bloodline.

Personally, I like it as well. The problem as I see it, atleast when you're a 1 province minor king, is that there's a shit ton of bad modifiers when you got below decent stats.
The base stat gain is already very low, and when you're contienuenly forced to choose between 3 bad, worser and worst, you'll be stuck with it through every single reign. In the game i described a little back, I lingered around 0,15 income a month for a very, very long while because of the modifiers, and no way of getting out of it :(

Yeah, a small start (I still love Aetius from Panormus) can be really tough. You don't have a pre-built capital, like Rome or Syracusa to pad your income, either, as some of these small king/duke/count starts. Not even all of the suggested starts have built up capitals, such as Africa and Dacia.

I tend to restart new games a lot until I get a king with at least middle of the road stats. Not having more than 1 terrible modifier (Corruption, the other "your ruler sucks" intrigue/diplomacy heavy hitter penalties), usually with a 7 or 8 average stat line. It at least makes the start playable, instead of sticking with some chump with 4's across the board haha.

I like stress myself... I'm still unsure how I'll end up balancing it.

@Zsrai if you have it inherited by mothers you get to become Blood Trait collector. :(

----
Starts can be brutal yes. :) I might change the modifiers somewhat though and be more gentle on the 1 province folk.
