Hey, great mod, im waiting.
One question, due to many religions holy wars will be disabled yep?

No, but I will slowly rework the casus belli system. This is not the feudal world we know - for example imagine the absurdity of this: Ahriman worshipping Parthian Shah thinking "hmmm I can't invade that Sassanid Zoroastrian land because errr my chancellor hasn't fabricated a claim yet! Let's sacrifice some slaves to speed up his success!"....sillyness to the nth level...

I am unsure yet of the exact conditions we can edit, but embarking on offensive war should come at a cost - depending on specifics - a war between clear religious enemies such as Zoroatrian vs Ahrimanist for example should not carry the same cost to declare as a war between not so clear enemies... Costs of casus belli should differ in terms of piety, prestige and cash... and some should come with negative oppinion hits...but all of this won't make it to version 0.1a because it would take too long to get right to begin with hehe. Also I should note that I want to eventually implement SERIOUS bonuses to fighting a defensive war. Conquering and holding onto stuff should be HARD. This mod will not have a set end date so I guess WC might eventually be achievable but it should be a TREMENDOUS achievement.

:( I'm sorry to hear that you've had to deal with faulty electric and other problems. Real life is so unfortunately cruel sometimes. I live in an area with very bad storms and freezing danger at times, and keep a hand-crank generator emergencies. I don't know if that'd help much, but you can make them yourself if they're too expensive. It might not help if you aren't using a battery powered laptop, but even a few minutes to save progress can be a lifesaver. Anyway! I will say that we seem to share a soft spot for Parthia, and I'm very pleased to see the Black Sea Expanse! Wait, what's this - Y... Y, YHVH Saboath?!? I must lead the armies of the Great Goddess Asherah against them! Unless there's a royal marriage option for gods... ;P I can't believe the cool stuff you have. Chalk up another area that must be played!.. :) It'll be hard to decide if I want to try the Khazars or the splinterists first...

Seconding (thirding?) Unctionism. It has a very realistic appeal to it.

And I might be making myself very unpopular (even with myself, haha!) by saying this - but if you aren't happy with the post-Carolingian area, you don't have to post it yet. Waiting will only make our excitement grow after all! Not that I will complain to see it, but there's still more of the east to look at, haha!

Edit: One thing I've found hugely helps the AI (and one very kind human test subject!) hold on to land is give incremental bonuses for how long they've owned it in addition to cultural and religious bonuses. It also encourages human players to hold onto and develop land, either as vassals or as their demesne as opposed to viewing it as interchangeable. Another experiment I've been thinking of is trying to see if I can't make different governments (repurposing the pope/republics) that have much higher/lower demesne limits, but suffer different penalties instead (inability to convert provinces, huge tax penalty and revolt risk for war... something like that). I'm extremely interested to see casus bellae evolve over the course of Lux Invicta!

Bad storms...we got those on ocassion too hehe... and yes I should switch to 100% laptop development but I can't stand the screen :blush: Next laptop I buy I will buy the best quality screen ever.

I have some clear ideas about how to make long term held land more valuable, and I'm sure we can come up with a good system. We'll talk details after 0.1a though - the more I talk about future plans now - the more 0.1a gets delayed hehe.

I will be posting the ex-Carolingian area given all areas need major work in any case...and this will give people a better idea...I'm thinking this area is actually in some ways the most logical one. :cool: (I personaly prefer other areas, but hey some people want to rebuild the Carolingian state)

Shaytana it is not only our personal taste , it is also thirst for new areas of the map and I think taht you have made some interesting tweaks but you are so humble to admit:p.Anyway I agree that a pacifisist and sensible exapnsion stance can be rewwarded and that we have many to talk about aftes 0.1 a but my opinion is to relase the version as polished as possible with the most important characteristics and after that begin to improve general aspects of gameplay according to ideas either from you either from feedback from us :cool:
Keep some secrets bro Do not spoil all the fun let us find alone some nice gifts of your work ;):p

Shaytana, just a heads up that I have now taken on the form of a raven. I assumed you'd want to know this due to your Marxist-Orthodox upbringing and the fact that as a child you would often pretend to be a crow because you wanted to fly away from all the hurt and pain the world threw at you. (I have my sources).

@Il Moro

Thanks mate! As mentioned to Cesar I'm thinking Vascon/Wascon would be better... unless people can make a very good case for "Euskotarrak".
======
Cesar and Il Moro - What do you guys prefer the Basques to be called?
======

Well, seeing that I'm an Ethno-Nationalist, politically speaking, I obviously prefer the original terminology, BUT, in your alternate universe the Goths and the Euskotarraks mixed up, so I create these terms for this mixed up land:

- WASKAL HERRIALANDE as name for the nation (HERRIALANDE is made by mix together german and basque language)

- WASKATARRAK as name for their mixed up culture

What do you think? :)

Francia and co:
p2k9a.jpg

Religions:
Ygiod.jpg

Cultures:

-This world's Carolingian Empire was not as succesful as ours. You can see a massive Pagan block to the East still holding strong.(the screenshot cuts of at the former Imperial border pretty much) That area is also culturally different - that's the Tiudiskaz block - the Germanic Pagans. The Carolingian Eastern border didn't go as far as in our reality, neither did the Empire succeed in matching its exploits in our reality in the SE or SW. It was also much more of a theoretical empire than an actual one, with many practically independent areas being theoretical vassals.

Some notes on states:
-Francia proper is held by a revived Merovingian dynasty. The proper sang real gets a second chance! Unctionism and royal supremacy in the affairs of the Church! In opposition to the Papacy and its support of the Carolingians this restored Merovingian state is in deep trouble... Nothing some laying on hands can't cure!
-Capetian Neustria - for those who can't help but want to build a Capetian France...
-Lotharingian Karling line ruling over...Antinomian Goths! Yes, it seems Germanic people have a thing for Antinomianism! :cool:
-The Karlings of Austrasia!(the blue kingdom surrounding the Imperial capital) Proper Catholic Karlings. Your best bet for reforming the Empire in the proper manner.
-The Sacral Emperor! A pitiful but majestic figure "ruling" over Aachen, the former Imperial Capital. Think Japanese Emperor during the Shogunate if you want a paralel. Everyone smiles and bows but sadly that's about as far as imperial majesty goes... can you restore the Empire? A Carolingian Meiji restoration is in order. :p
-Romanogothic Kingdom of Aquitaine! The Bastion of Arianism.
-And so much more...from the Romano-Burgundian Kingdom of Arles to the Sacred Heart of Solar Christianity - Lyon!

Thank you for your suggestions! I'll think about them, I am unsure - so far I favor the term Wascon/Vascon and Wasconia/Vasconia for the kingdom.

On Lombardy - I can tell you who rules there: The Lombards! Lombardia is "The Shield of Christianity", the very fortress of Catholicism, and very much part of the Catholic corridor you can see in the religious screen.

EDIT: You can actually see part of it in the screens above - the Snake CoA is Lombardia.

Anyone know if someone made a Gallo-Roman culture? Or a Frisian culture? I was thinking of maybe switching parts of that Dutch blob to Frisian.

There's definitely a Frisian culture kicking around somewhere.

Hmmm, I might look for it although I can live without it for 0.1a...although a Frisian Pagan culture with Pagan names would fit the Allfather area better than Dutch...I guess I can make my own for some future version anyway.

SO MANY COLORS!!!! Thank goodness that i am color blind. Anyway are these Frank Latin or Germanic?

A mixture you could say more Latin in the South, more germanic in the North.

Arian Aquitaine is my favourite here.

On cultural evolution, I have the feeling Occitan is also a bit out of situation, but we'll see. Also, is this "Frankish" more Germanic than Romance? French is the most germanised of all Romance languages, but had the Church and the romanising tendencies had less influence, then the Teudish, the Tudesci, Germanic-Speaking Franks, would have imposed their own "Frankish", a highly romanised Germanic dialect. Names would be different, etc.

You know I'm dying to play this mod.

Have you thought of using the mod Charta Europae? It's the most accurate mapmod I've seen around.

On Charta Europae - not sure... a new map implementation would be a rather big time investment I think though.

Church(es) and Romanising influence was strong - don't let the lack of unity make you think otherwise. In some areas stronger than in our reality! The Romans here put up a much better fight and were a much longer lasting element of the mixture. You can see that some areas are way more Roman than in our reality... you could say that these Franks got their fare share of Roman influence only the channels were different. Also you can see some of the gradation of Roman culture levels in the way the map goes. This mod's Occitan culture in some ways represents the more Roman influenced areas. You could say that in a simplistic fashion Occitan and Frankish here represents the more Romanic vs a bit more Germanic divide... for the real Germanics there's Germany and then the massive Tiudiskaz culture block that starts where the screenshot ends in the east.

I got sidetracked and worked on buildings rather than the setup... one thing I'm curious to see is how the buildings system will impact game speed...given CK2 seems to like to slow down for various reasons, I'm hoping the new buildings system won't be one of them. Anyone know what are the major triggers of slowdown?

I thought that slowdown was normally caused by extra characters appearing in the game as time went on (and having to process all their events, plots, ambitions, decisions, etc).

@Fawr

I think slowdown is caused by pretty much everything you add but I'm thinking some triggers/way of setting up things/the way the game processes some specific aspects slows the down a lot more than others.

@mike the knight

Thank you... Northern Europe is interesting... if I look at my map and current implementation the least interesting implementation is the Western Slavic areas of Poland and west of it... (from my perspective at least) It's mostly smaller pagan states worshiping their local Slavic deity variety.

I've started reworking the Baltic Area for balance reasons. It was much too fragmented and while having all the smaller tribes represented is neat in theory, it just does not work well in practice so I'm consolidating them into bigger powers...I also went a bit overboard with religious varieties, there's too many because I kind of liked too many aspects of Baltic mythology so I'm consolidating religion as well.

I also want to add some dynasties to this region - if you have any Baltic area dynastic suggestions please post them here. I'm actually currently interested in dynasties for the region stretching from Holstein to Finland + the Polish area.
