Mod is REALLY getting better

Hi there...

just wanted to mention, that the mod has become really good. Especially the AI of the game. I remember playing Stony Road and watching the French and Poland racking up every Province with fortresses beyond all recognition. Don't get me wrong, Stony Road is good, but I like this one better.

One strange thing happened to me last night though. It is the year 1940, whole western Europe was conquered (I am playing Germany by the way), Vichy was installed, BeNeLux was mine, Denmark was mine, Operation Sealion (Invasion of England) was a total success. I didn't go for Weseruebung though as Norway was one of my Allies (as Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania and Slovakia, Finland and Italy). What actually happened was, that I got into a war with the USSR because the Finnish-Russian Winterwar was still going on when I allied with Finland. Not, that I had a problem with this, but when I allied with Yugoslavia, occupied England, France, Belgium and Netherlands got really pissed off and declared their independance again. Basically, I cannot declare war on them anymore and all but a few diplomatic options are greyed out. Most peculiar though is, that Axis AND Allies are waging war against Comintern suddenly and not against each other.... Any comments on that?

Another thing concerning Vichy France: I think, when it is created, it should be set as Puppet to Germany.

Anyway.... Keep up the good work. As a Historian I am deeply impressed with the accuracy so far

Wai wait, let me get a mental picture here, you allied with Yugoslavia and after that (or conquering the UK, which you could not annex) France, Netherlands and Belgium declared their independance?

Did you have units in those countries, and yes, what happend to them?
Are they in any sort of alliance?
What is the USA doing?

I am amazed, do you have screenshots?

Thanks for the positive feedback. Based on what you write I think you ran across a problem with the Yugoslavian events. In the discussion thread Generalisimo has posted a replacement event chain so if you have a save game prior to this happening I think the situation can be avoided.

I'll try and update the hotfix download later tonight to include that event chain as well so it will be a bit easier to install.

Well, here is a downloadable file - just save it into the folder ...\Hearts of Iron\mod-CORE\scenarios\CORE_campaign\events\

I would also recommend you get the zip file from the Bug List thread. I'll update the hotfix download to include the new bolted.txt later tonight.

Vichy France should become puppet as in event 2022 Germany.txt. This was commented out for testing it seems, but not uncommented for release!

Well.... I got an Update.... by now it is July 1944.... and the World has really gone crazy.... Ok... roundabout beginning of 1943, I annexed Russia.... so far so good I thought... reminds me, I should stop thinking sometimes, because after centering all my remaining divisions including several expeditionary forces in Berlin, the sh*** had really hit the fan.... I couldn't declare war on the allies, but they did on me... Ok... France was done in less than a month and England fell shortly afterwards. France got a puppet of Germany and just now the UK got annexed.... Yugoslavia was a nice dinner for the other minors I was allied with.... at least Rumania is as big as Germany was at the start of the war. Currently, I am sitting in Boston and am seriously thinking on throwing the Bomb on New York as the US have 140 Infantry Divisions there.... nasty.... The technology race is clearly won by me, as my two fleets chew up the whole American one... the rest is for the subs. Too bad, my 2 Super Heavy Carriers won't be finished until May 1946 and for Nuclear Ships it is too late to start building.

Concerning the questions: By the time, this queer thing happened, England, France, Belgium and Holland were occupied, as I couldn't annex or puppeteer them due to their oversea holdings. After the incident with Yugoslavia, those states were restored to prewar boundaries (except France.... there I got the provinces I had a claim on). I had several units in England and France. They all got relocated as if I had them strategically redeployed.

I have no screenshots though.... hm.... I could do one now in political or diplomatic mode.... that really looks scary....

Yes, it's Yugo bug. Before the next game I sugest downloading hotfix mentioned by Steel in earlier post.

Totally agree! The game is getting MUCH better with the CORE mod You guys have made it much more fun to play and challenging. Keep up the great work, I know it is difficult.
