Soapykrieg 1939
for 1.06b

The ONLY functional scenario in this mod is Blitzkrieg

If anyone is interested in taking a peek at my work in progress you can download it at (sorry I dont have a comprehensive readme of changes done yet):

NEW VERSION
www.soapyfrog.net/hoi/soapykrieg35.zip

*** Recommend you backup your HoI directory... this mod does not use moddir, it overwrites the base files ***

Contains two new scenarios: Soapykrieg A and Soapykrieg B. Soapykrieg B the only difference is that colonial territories are considered occupied and British India is a puppet of UK instead of home nation. Old blitzkrieg scenario no longer used.

DISCLAIMER: There are lots of small things as yet incomplete with these mods. Various events need to be added or tweaked, a lot of things like descriptive text has not been completed. Also this is a very HSPish mod, implementing a good chunk of Math Guy's proposed modficiations.

If you DO by chance check out my mod-in-progress please do not hesitate to point out bugs or make criticisms as you see fit...

Well here is a short and general list of changes:

Units:

- All troops types broken up into seperate models to reflect both improved late war units and national variations
- Armour troop type now represents Armour battalion/brigade with 60-100 vehicles and minimal support troops (manpower cost 1)
- 73 distinct models of light and medium tanks are represented in the game
- Mechanized troops type now represents Heavy Armour battalion/brigade with 40-80 vehicles and minimal support troops (manpower cost 1)
- 25 distinct models of heavy tanks are represented in the game
- AA brigade attachment now represent SP Gun battalion attachment
- Para troop type reduced to brigade strength
- Militia now represents also independent infantry brigades and other subdivisional units, as well as fortress divisions and militia
- All unit stats and costs and buildtimes rebalanced extensively. Whereever possible actual relative costs are used, although armour is more expensive to represent production bottlenecks. Most land units have much higher base stats and gain proportionally less from tech.
- Naval unit detection numbers greatly reduced
- Fighter org greatly reduced

Tech
- Infantry, Artillery, Armour, and Land Doctrine trees extensively reworked, most other trees tweaked. All tech cost reduced.
- All nations start with Math Guy Mod tech reducing supply efficiency by 90%
- All nations start with techs that rebalance weather and terrain efficiency modfiers extensively
- Coal -> Oil -> Rubber conversion rates changed, synthetic oil requires a lot of coal, but synthetic rubber does not require much oil
- Total stat increases due to tech generally reduced
- Several major hard attack boosts (AT gun tech mostly) require upgrades
- certain nations will be unable to research certain techs, or access techs past a certain level... e.g. most minors will not be able to research tanks or aircraft
- several techs added to represent militarily disadvnataged countries and to tweak combat performance by events
- Lots of country specific doctrine techs whcih allow different countries to build different flavours of units

Scenarios
- All nation's orders of battles modified to account for the unit adjustments, especially the breakdown of armour into battalion sized units
- All colonial/overseas territory for Major Powers changed to occupied territory
- Imperial India added as a puppet of UK
- Pripet and Siberian Marsh areas now under control of a Soviet puppet state. This insures that the Soviets will not put huge forces in the Pripets...
- Pripet Marsh infra reduced
- Several small tweaks and adjustments to IC and terrain
- Chinese now control their historical 1939 areas

Events
- Several events added for movement of Russian, British, French and Chinese capitals
- Russians suffer large penalties at the outbreak of war with germany and recover as the Germans advance
- Borrowed an tweaked Industry move events from TMP mod
- German development of better tanks is now event driven
- Cancelled lend-lease events for human USA. Human USA player can do lend-lease by shipping supplies and sending expeditionary forces.
- Added events for French defeatism during the battle of France and Italian lacklustre combat performance

Graphics
- 1.05 style counters with World-in-Flames style colours
- New fortress graphic
- Military symbols used instead of unit type pictures where possible
- You can still use 1.06 graphics if you prefer, just dont install the GFX folder

Is it REALLY fully functional? ;)

If it is, then all you need to do is unzip my files into a subdirectory of HoI, and use the appropriate command line switch. I think that should work, assuming a fully functioning moddir, that checks for all files...

Ah yes? I will fix that...

PS: I think this current version should still work with 1.06c... however I do have to check some of the event changes they made.

I expect so. CORE released a new version that relies on it already and I believe Steel is still an HoI beta so it's probably been tested.
