PDX textures for planets are great and well done, but they lack variety. All planets fell the same after a game or two, with little personality and color variance, the worse being the gas giants. Planet Variety aim to greatly enhance the visuals of Stellaris by bringing some much needed diversity for planets.

This mod brings 271 new textures for Arid, Desert, Savannah, Alpine, Arctic, Tundra, Continental, Ocean, Tropical, Gaïa, Tomb, Barren, Cold Barren, Frozen, Shielded, Toxic, Gas Giant, and Molten planets, as well as 35 new layers of clouds. This mod only add and do not replace any sotck textures.

The textures are very wanilla like and blend pretty well, habitable worlds will have night lights, molten will glow, etc ....

The mod is completely save game compatible, however new textures will not appear in an old save, a frash start is mandatory. You can remove this mod anytime and the engine will take care of removing the new textures just fine, 0 worries with your precious saves.

    - Clouds entirely redone, they're more aesthetically pleasing with more transparency.

    - Renamed textures to enhance mod compatibility.
    - Save game enabler available, to put new texture on a old save.
    - Lite version released, half the textures for less powerful computers.

I never thought Space Engine would make planet textures that mesh with the originals, but this is an awesome mod!

They do, no tri planar work necessary, but most textures require som heavy rework, and molten planets have been made pretty much from scratch. Some paradox mesh are pretty weird around the pole though ...

This is super awesome, but can we please also have a 2K texture version? I think that would be more than enough to make the small planet graphics look nice without the video memory overhead of 4K.

Updated, v1.1 cut down the size by 2, to ~2Go, I realize some have difficulites runing this mod, it's pretty demanding, so I've made a LITE version, available on steam.

Impressive work. Any chance you might try to create some extra toxic worlds?

I'm trying to do new shielded ATM, but the results are not satisfactory, new toxic are on their way for 1.2, I think I can forget new rings however, and asteroids will be a tough one too.

V1.2 is out, I've added some shielded (4) and toxic planets (11). Here are 2 gif to give an idea:

With this, I consider this mod finished, all PDX planets have been revisited. I drop the asteroid stuff, too much 3D for me, and it's impossible to add new rings as of now.

If anyone is interested to have custom textures for your mod, please contact me.
