The basic idea of a massive federation (supported by Józef Piłsudski) of Eastern and Central European powers namely; Poland, Ukraine, Czechoslovakia, the Baltic states, Hungary, Romania, Yugoslavia, Belarus, and Finland. I'm thinking of an already independent Ukraine that never was absorbed by the Soviet Union and was partially annexed by poland (did i mention poland would be the leader?) and overall poland would be stronger. It would make for a harder Germany and Soviet Union, but i confess it would be that much easier for the Allies/USA unless Międzymorze would be a power hostile to them with a strong navy and an army comparable to Germany, which yet again would seriously compromise them and the Soviets. Any ideas to pitch in?

P.S. I really dont have the time to do this, so help would be appreciated

Hello Karlz,

I don't mean to dishearten you but in my experiance nothing usually comes from posting 'mod proposals' in the way you just have. If you have a concept for a mod your best bet is to spend an evening... or a couple of days... a few weeks maybe... (you get the idea ;) ) drawing up a mod 'Announcement' in a clear, presentable format that draws attention to itself.

Even if you have a really good idea, people need to know that you have the drive and the ability to follow through with your ideas before they invest time and effort into following - or even developing - your mod.

I realize that presenting the idea in the forums seems like a good way to see if anyone is interested, but in reality just posting a paragraph of raw text just tells people that there is no substance behind your ideas. You have got to demonstrate that there is substance behind your ideas first or the modification is almost certainly going to die out before it gets started.

There are plenty examples of mods-in-the-making on this forum and you will find that most, if not all, contain a brief on:

a) The background and ideas behind the modification.
b) The current status of the modification.
c) What features the modification hopes to implement.

P.S. I really dont have the time to do this, so help would be appreciated
This sentance is particularily unwise. 'Help would be appreciated.' is fine. Modifications usually require a lot of time and not all of us have a lot of time.

But saying that you "really don't have time to do this" indicates that you aren't actually interested in developing the mod yourself. Instead all you really want someone to invest their time in making it for you.

Personally, i'm not sure that's what you really meant, but that is how it will sound to the neutral!

Like I said, my aim isn't to bash or troll you... I actually like your idea. But you need to have a personal go at putting flesh on the bone before you can expect something to happen.

Best regards,

Silver

EDIT: Aaaargggh Matey! Thar be a good contemporary example naught but a few posts down: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?t=398823

Okay, this is what the mod idea is (straight from wikipedia :D ):

Międzymorze was a project pursued after World War I by Józef Piłsudski, of a Polish-led federation of Central and Eastern European countries. Invited to join were the Baltic states (Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia), Finland, Belarus, Ukraine, Hungary, Romania, Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia.
The proposed federation was meant to emulate the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, stretching from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea, that, from the end of the 16th century to the end of the 18th, had united the Kingdom of Poland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.

Międzymorze was, however, perceived by some Lithuanians as a threat to their newly established independence, seen by some Ukrainians as a threat to their aspirations for independence, and opposed by Russia and by most western powers except France.

Międzymorze complemented Piłsudski's other ambitious geopolitical vision—Prometheism, whose goal was no less than the dismemberment of the Russian Empire and that Empire's divestiture of its territorial conquests.

I had made a retarded version compared to this. It was polish held ukraine, lithuania, southern latvia, and the russian border on the Dniper (also the river on the other side of Smolensk). I used a defensive position with 3 forts each. The Soviet AI was not too keen on attacking (I'm on my comp with just HOI2 with no DoomsDay) on Normal.

In history, this was an impossible alliance. Russia, Germany, Britan, and Austria-Hungary (while they were alive) all objected to it. Russia objected becuse it would take away valuable Ukraine and also that it would be the main victim of the alliance. Germany disliked it due to the long border shared with the alliance, Britan disliked Międzymorze due to the fact its main objective was to rid themselves of the Soviets ( Bolshevism was percieved to be a temporary threat), who were an important ally. They had also refused to aid the White Russians (or the tsar). Ukrainians and Lithuanians refused due to thier fierce nationalism, while thier polar opposite Belorussia was not nationalistic enough to really care.

But saying that you "really don't have time to do this" indicates that you aren't actually interested in developing the mod yourself. Instead all you really want someone to invest their time in making it for you.

What I meant by "I don't really have the time to do this" was "I can't do ALL of the work and thought, I really need help". At least with ideas, I can most of the work, but I need event ideas like: Should I put in event every few months where the alliance builds up, or should it start out with the alliances members pretty much in place? I have already mentioned I've already made a mini version of this. Its just that I don't want to have finished it to realize I made a stupid error like a too strong Poland, USSR, Germany, Britan, France, or USA (or too weak).

I realized I could limit the USA by splitting it in two (East US and West US, or California). That way the US would'nt be that ridiculously easy. The winning side would have regular_id, but the day after they win all the "losing" troops would be disbanded by event (of course you get no choice but a small consilation prize!;)). I have not tried this out yet, I'll work on it right now too test drive this idea. (East US having the industrial superiority, but West with the resources)

Okay I'll mod the main points on Friday. Remember to pitch in!

Edit: looks like a cool mod, but I am thinking of more independent countries as members like Ukraine and lithuania would NEVER have agreed to join as one country, taking away thier precious liberty. (Poland will have to suffer semi-retarded allies, but so does Britan and Germany) Besides, in that mod Czechoslovakia is the focus, but in this one Poland is.

That's what I hoped you meant :eek:o

Personally, I would recommend...

> You start off Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Belarus, Ukraine, Hungary, Romania, Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia in 1936 all in alliance with Miedzymorze-Poland.

> Then have events in late 1937 (with randomised dates) that give each of these governments a question of whether they want unificaton with Miedzymorze (lots of Anschluss-replicas ;) )

That way, as the Polish player you have decide how to most wisely spend your time and money on the diplomatic side of things in the early game and end up with an interesting mix of territories that are either now yours, or merely allied to you.

If you manage to unite everyone, kudos to you!

> I think Miedzmorze would do well to fight off the combined attentions of Germany and Russia so I don't think either would need much balancing.

> Splitting up the USA is a tempting idea, although it has been done in the same North/South way too many times. How about...

...An America that in 1846-1848 fought a losing draw in the US-Mexican War,
leaving all of this land + the rest of Colorado/Oklahoma in Mexican hands:

estadosunidosylamesilla.png

That would make Mexico a power in it's own right! :D

> You might even consider shifting the frontiers of early-mid WWII by having Germany reach out more to Mexico, Argentina, Bolivia and other South American countries in lieu of their normal Balkans/Eastern European allies.

> If you timed that with an earlier Pacific War for the USA (possibly a Japanese invasion of the Phillipines way before a Pearl Harbour?) you'd get an USA that was still economocally powerful, but fighting long before it has a chance to moblize and fighting not just two but potentially three fronts:

Pacific / South-Central America / Europe

> If you want to balance out Japan/Russia in this... then hell, have a re-fight of the Russo-Japanese war!

Enough crazy ideas for today I think

I'm currently working on the whole west vs. east war going and it is......... not going as i thought. I will postpone the whole Międzymorze idea till i weaken some countries(specifically the Allies). I have the mod worked out so california and the US each get 12-15 divisions (unrealistic, but hearts of iron is never totally realistic). But instead of California getting the divisions, but Mexico stole them(they are allied through event, but mexico has choices to stay neutral or join the US as well to regain their lost territories). I don't know why this keeps happening. Also, I was making victory events, and now it dosen't load (freezes and I have to quit). They are:

I also changed some other events, so if everything is ok here, i need to look somewhere else (but i was getting trigger not valid problems before, but now it dosent tell any problems whatsoever) If you see something that needs changing (i.e a change to a country; weaker or stronger etc.) tell me.
