A bit of a weird question, but would it be possible to have the now Kingdom of Finland become a "Grand Duchy" if member of another Empire? Most likely Rus or Scandinavia.

I could make an event that auto does that yes, but the problem is that the mechanism for switching the "Kingdoms" around screws up de Jure drift and having it flipping back and forth would really mess it up. That's why I have the Grand/Arch Duchy -> Kingdom transition be a manually trigger able event so people can finish their de Jure drifting first if they so want. The AI wouldn't understand why it shouldn't do it under certain circumstances either.

Ah I can see that for those regions. Although I would argue it makes less sense in other areas of the globe but either way the extra titles add to the fun of the game :)

I'll probably sit down in a version or two and adjust them accordingly based on zone. I wanted to at least get that much done for this version. This could all be avoided if I could make titles mutually exclusive, however I can only make a title exclude another title that precedes it. For example say I have the title Potato first, followed by Title Mushroom. I could make Mushroom not be creatable by someone holding the title Potato, but not the other way around because when the game loads up the titles files, it reads Potato first, then see that it is supposed to exclude Mushroom, but Mushroom doesn't exist yet! So Potato ignores that requirement. (Funky colours added to maybe make that a bit more comprehensible, maybe)

Edit: I should clarify what I mean, I like to unite Italy into one kingdom which then makes Lombardy and Sicily titular titles that I like to make after incorporating the entire peninsula for historical flavor. Plus Sardinia is fun to give to an heir after forming Roma. However, titles that were de Jure that then become titular should be formable because I believe they lack the line about whether or not you have a king or emperor level title.

Yeah, I don't touch actual de Jure titles and if they become titular in such a manner you can make them as much as you want. Those are extraneous circumstances that I won't worry about. I COULD make them work like that, but if someone is willing to jump through hoops like that, I am willing to allow it :)

New Version is out!

Version 1.19 said:
  • Updated to be compatible with CK2+ 1.24
  • Removed the emperor exclusion on most titular titles. You can now make them as much as you want as an emperor, however the regular exclusion rules still apply (i.e. can't make a titular kingdom if you already hold 2 other king titles)

Added a hotfix update for CK2+ 1.25 (it just adjusts the dependency for the new version, nothing changed). Just drop it straight into your mod folder (NOT the ftt folder, but the mod folder) and overwrite.

Hotfix 1

I'd like to take a moment (and sideline my own thread lol) and ask for a favour to you guys. I make this mod out of my free time and I don't ask for anything in return but for you all to enjoy using it but if you feel like returning some of the love please consider signing up for the War of the Roses beta (a game being made my Paradox Interactive), as every sign up increases my chance of getting in :). Note this is not meant to be a guilt trip and I will continue updating/adding onto the mod whether or not I get in, but I thought some of you might be interested in it either way because it is looking to be a very interesting game. The sign up link that helps me is in my signature below.

Here's a pre-alpha video of the gameplay for those of you completely in the dark about this game (warning, contains blood):
[video=youtube;jnNrHdihGSY]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jnNrHdihGSY[/video]

Please reserve discussion about the game itself to another topic though :)

Hello,

I'm interested in making an Empire tier title for all of Italy, and thought maybe you'd be interested in adding it to your mod, here's the specifics:

Consulate of Italy (Consulare d'Italia)- a feudal, lineage based Empire standing in the mock image of old Rome, using history and national sentiment to rule as the rest of Europe's Kings and Queens do.

Title: I'm unsure of how to do this, but make it so Italian (or Latin) emperors are given the title Caeser or Augustus or Consul.

Must own all of Italy, including Sicily, Sardinia and Corsica- and, of course, the Papal controlled counties, obviously including Rome.
Must have one of the two Kingdom titles of Italy, but ONLY ONE, so either King of Italy or King of Sicily, but not both (ie one must be destroyed to allow for de jure transfer to the Kingdom which still exists).
Must be Catholic (Orthodox or Christian).

I'd like to force the capital to Rome, but in CK2 Rome's county capital is a Bishopric, and most games nearly all the county structures are bishoprics, so lol.

A well thought out suggestion indeed, let me break down some insight and suggestions though:

Title: I'm unsure of how to do this, but make it so Italian (or Latin) emperors are given the title Caeser or Augustus or Consul.

I can tie a unique honorific to a culture (group) OR a title, but not both (i.e. I could tie it to Italian, or tie it to the Consulate) afaik. I believe tieing it to the title itself would best suit your needs. This is done by entering entries into the localization. For example using a title present in my mod:

Code:
GRANDDUKE;Grand Duke;Grand-Duc;Großherzog;;Gran Duque;;;;;;;;;x
GRANDDUKE_title_ruler_consort;Grand Duke;Grand-Duc;Großherzog;;Gran Duque;;;;;;;;;x
GRANDDUKE_female;Grand Duchess;Grande-Duchesse;Großherzogin;;Gran Duquesa;;;;;;;;;x
GRANDDUKE_title_ruler_consort_female;Grand Duchess;Grande-Duchesse;Großherzogin;;Gran Duquesa;;;;;;;;;x
GRANDDUKE_OF;Grand Duchy of;Grand-Duché de;Großherzogtum;;Gran Ducado de;;;;;;;;;x
GRANDDUKE_FOA_TUSCANY;Your Serene Highness;Votre Altesse Sérénissime;Ihre Durchlaucht;;Su Alteza Serenísima;;;;;;;;;x

Replace GRANDDUKE with your title (i.e. CONSUL). FOA is form of address and is how people refer to the person in question. When you declare the empire in landed_titles to include your new name and FOA, you must include this:

Code:
	title_prefix = "GRANDDUKE_OF"
	title = "GRANDDUKE"

You COULD try:
Code:
GRANDDUKE_latin;Grand Duke;Grand-Duc;Großherzog;;Gran Duque;;;;;;;;;x

or

Code:
GRANDDUKE_italian;Grand Duke;Grand-Duc;Großherzog;;Gran Duque;;;;;;;;;x

No guarantees on success though, never tried it

Must own all of Italy, including Sicily, Sardinia and Corsica- and, of course, the Papal controlled counties, obviously including Rome.

Can be done, but very time consuming (would have to tie in every county into the Consulate title manually). So in landed_titles under the empire's allow (example):
Code:
have_landed_title = c_malta
have_landed_title = c_pisa
etc.

Must have one of the two Kingdom titles of Italy, but ONLY ONE, so either King of Italy or King of Sicily, but not both (ie one must be destroyed to allow for de jure transfer to the Kingdom which still exists).
Must be Catholic (Orthodox or Christian).

Again, under allows it would look like this:

Code:
allow = {
	OR = {
		AND = {
			has_landed_title = k_italy
			NOT = { has_landed_title = k_sicily }
		}
		AND = {
			has_landed_title = k_sicily
			NOT = { has_landed_title = k_italy }
		}
	}
	religion_group = christian
}

I'd like to force the capital to Rome, but in CK2 Rome's county capital is a Bishopric, and most games nearly all the county structures are bishoprics, so lol.

The player can't make a bishopric his capital, so he is forced to make the barony there the capital (something a player can easily do so that's not an issue)

If you're using CK2 plus then the Empire of Rome is already in as well as an Empire of Italy.

I think he is referring to vanilla strictly in this (which I have a neither Roman nor Italian empire with my mod). I'm more amicable to an empire tier title like this though. Far less complaining about Roman legitimacy etc. this way.

FYI, female titles are broken as of 1.06. You need to add another line to landedtitles.txt for each of the custom titles you've added (the way they stand in the localization files is fine): title_female = "GRANDDUKE_female"

they've never worked for custom consorts to begin with (i.e. Prince Consort, King Consort etc.) I have the 1.06 introduced title_female introduced though for the next version. title_female completely overwrites consorts too sadly, so not an ideal situation but better.

Okay, neat!

I actually tried to create a custom empire in landed_titles.txt, I followed the layout of the other empires, copied and pasted Kingdom of Italy and Kingdom of Sicily in the appropriate place under e_consulate_d'italia, but I'll see if I can sort out the rest of the code elsewhere and I'll post it here!

Thanks! :)

It say's in the OP that you are looking for more ideas? How about a Kingdom of the Pechenegs, it's weird having a Pecheneg Bulgaria. Also a Kingdom of Crete, perhaps a Kingdom of the Sami (Sameland?)

I really do need some more stuff north. I might make a "Unified Tribes of the Sami" or something like that. Kingdom of Crete would actually be called the Kingdom of Candia, but sure it can go in. The Pecehenegs already have Romania there (granted not really any better) but I really can't make the AI prefer to make the titular title so they'd still make Bulgaria for the majority of the time.

You can already make the Emirate of Crete

The Sami I believe had reindeer as there sort of "preferred" animal, they herded it I believe, so something incorporating that would be stellar (just search Sami coat of arms, theres plently there to work with). After I cursory google search for Candia CoA's .... I've found none. I think your probably just going to have to use Crete's white cross and dark blue background.

I think you are thinking of Epirus there. Krete uses 3 white dots on red. I'll use that then for a lack of better alternative. I found a good Sami one as well.
