I was just speaking for myself. I do not want to spend 1000 hours working on a mod to have it rendered irrelevant by an expansion. Mods built for FTM did not work with TFH and had to be rebuilt. I, myself, am going to be cautious about when and if I am going to devote my time to develop an ambitious mod. I don't want to waste my time. If you have more free time, good for you.

Exactly, if HoI4 will have the same amount of DLC as CKII and released at the same rate, than making a big mod would only be for the very few that have a lot of free time, as you would spend most of your time updating/adapting your mod to the DLC.

Look at HoI3, imo the best and most stabile mods came out around 4-5 years after its release.

This is a hugely important point - I'm trying to focus most of the early stuff on the naval mod on things like tech trees and units, that are likely to change rather than be ripped out (although I actually hope they do a dedicated naval DLC at some stage, and expect them to), and then by the time I get around to the more complicated stuff all being well the game will be more 'settled'.

BlacICE!

Besides the obvious - My ideal mod for this game would be a world in flames type scenario where you can start in 1933 and progress beyond the war's end date into the 50s.

I don't need a neverendin game but 1946 feels a little constricted to me.

Can't wait!

WW1, world tension always at 100%, re-vamped national goals for a more dynamic/crazy AI, timeframe and of course a 2016 mod which features today(But with a much slower world tension build up)

BlacICE!

I don't need a neverendin game but 1946 feels a little constricted to me.

Can't wait!

Isn't it 1948 the end game?

And can someone explain to me why is BlackICE so hyped? I hated the guts of that mod. Too many unrealistic units, every remotely famous unit was a special unit for itself. As Germany, all I needed to do most of the game is to pay up some resources and the game would pop up units for me.

"Here, let me take these supplies from you, you can have those nice divisions that just popped up"

Same goes with buildings. My God, the amount of airbases that you get for almost free. How about making a historic event that would only put Air Base in my construction list and I have to spend time and IC to make it? Same goes with units.

Sound design was ear bleeding (had to play it on mute). Added content (most of it completely redundant, could be done with existing content) chokes up already problematic and unstable game. While adding some historic flavor and interesting options, it takes away too much from the game. New systems themselves I am OK with, it is not that much more complicated. But I could not bare myself to play it more than twice. Even pre-war time was agony. And when the war starts... I pray to Cthulhu that the game does not CTD! And I like extensive micro, slow games, planning and historic flavor in games.

So what's up with the Black ICE hype? To me, more is not necessary better.
