Having skimmed the dev diaries I am wondering what changes you are making into this mod aside from the map. How are you factoring in the different species and inter special marriages, and how are you representing things such as the dark brotherhood and the different guilds that where present during during this time? Basically how are you putting in the things that make the elder scrolls universe the universe that it is and not just some cool map?

Also, unrelatedly, I was wondering if you represented Winterhold as the major town it should be during the 2nd area and not the sad shadow of itself that it became later.

/I really do appreciate the work you are doing for this mod and I hope it turns out as great as everyone hopes it will.

You could make dark brotherhood a powerful mercenary group that takes tons of gold to recruit but is really, really strong.

Mages could be a unit. (like heavy cavalry, bowmen etc.)

I'm looking forward to this mod but I'm not really expecting too much. Keep it up I guess and you might even surprise me.

The dev diaries so far have been mostly dealing with the map and the game setup, it's true, the reason being that pretty much everything else is in a very early stage, and showing things too early results in comments from an overeager audience, such as "those portraits look like zombies OMFGBBQ!". I think Winterhold is the capital of Skyrim, at least it is listed as so in the title information, and I believe the "King" of Skyrim is situated there at the starting bookmark.

There's been many questions about marriages, that aspect of CK2 is not moddable, it's not something we have access to and we can only work within the framework we have. We have a system in place to kill off abnormal babies, and there are events to end abnormal marriages, in addition there may be a trait or character modifier added that vastly reduces fertility of inter...uhm...racially married couples (this shouldn't affect bastard events, iirc there's no check on actual fertility of the 'participants' in the bastard events, someone correct me if I'm wrong though).

We've got some plans for differentiating the races to try and make playing as a Dunmer different to playing as a Nord for example, but as said previously, early stage at the moment, same with Guilds and such, despite what we've so far shown, the map and such, the mod should still very much be considered pre-alpha.

DB was never about open large scale warfare, they will be included as something far more interesting.
As for your final line, thanks for the support I guess...

DEVELOPMENT DIARY 6

Desertic, yet opulent, Elsweyr! Home province of the sneaky Khajiit people! Separated from the rest of the continent by the prominent Anequina Desert and the bounteous Pellitine Forest! May the Sugar God bless your warm sands.

By the Second Era most of Elsweyr is under the direct control of the Mane, a theocratic leader, and his vassals. From all his vassals the most prestigious ones are the kings of Anequina and Pellitine, two brothers who descend from the sacred marriage of King Keirgo of Anequina and Queen Eshita of Pellitine that put both kingdoms under the Elsweyr Confederacy ruled by the Mane himself.

The nation is divided between two big culture groups, the barbaric Anequinans of the north desert and the decadent Pellitinians of the south forest. As of their religion the Khajiit follow the Riddle'Thar faith and respect the divinity of the Mane, their religious leader.

Interesting Characters:

Anequina Kingdom: Disputing the control of the kingdoms with your brother will be the last of your problems as the Mane tries to increase his political power and the bordering dukes eager to conquer your lands. May you walk on warm sands.

King Keirgo III Echidna of Anequina: http://imgur.com/aTGv3

Pellitine Kingdom: Your brother will be troubled up north and you should easily be capable of taking his barbaric kingdom. You also are relatively close to Torval, the Confederacy's capital, and could attempt to overthrow the Mane and plot to make the kingdoms independent once again.

King Vasha II Echidna of Pellitine: http://imgur.com/2y6tE

Dukedom of The Rim: Who cares about that filthy Confederacy? You're a powerful independent duke and owns a vast realm that spans from the Anequinan Desert to the Niben Valley. Your eastern territory is considered de jure Nibenay and that unscrupulous human king may try to take your lands. Holding Leyawiin will prove to be a challenge as the Confederacy and the Quin'Rawl Duke would love to see you weakened.

Next Diary we will be seeing Valenwood.

this looks absolutely awesome. I am starting to think this is actually going to see the light of day. (too many fantasy mods have died out over time).

I am indeed starting to look forward to this. You might not be in over your heads after all! The only thing I'm really worried about at this point is the portraits. But you could always just discard that for the first few releases (leave the area blank).

Also I got an idea while playing the Game of Thrones mod. You could make the dark brotherhood somewhat like the faceless men: pay truckloads full of money to assassinate one specific individual with 0% chance of failure.

Don't worry about the portraits for one moment. We already have the elves almost complete, plus some WIP beast races. First release won't be perfect, but we will probably be including functional Elder Scrolls style portraits for all the races.

Wow, those portraits look amazing!

I take it you didn't see the first image we showed?

The provinces look nice. Especially Morrowind. Cyrodiil needs work.
Speaking of which, why are they called valus mountains when there's very few mountains in that area? my source is TES: Oblivion ofc.

The whole duchy encompass the titular duchy of Scinia and the actual Valus Mountains.

We are trying to not use the other possible name (Cheydinhal) because it would make it... City of Cheydinhal in the County of Cheydinhal in the Duchy of Cheydinhal in the Titular Kingdom of Cheydinhal and so on...

So, in resume, we are breaking that chain by using some alternative names like Colovian Highlands (Kvatch), Great Forest (Chorrol) and Gold Coast (Anvil).

Will the Septim legacy (being able to unite the continent into an Empire, and thus be raised to godhood) be achievable by non-Septims? (Yes, I want to be able to raise one ruler to high enough prominence to where his name is revered as the 9th Divine). :p
