Has this been updated in awhile. The last time I played I believe the Flu was just nerfed slightly as it was whipping out everything.
I checked the main page and the last thing thats posted is 1.3a which I do recall as being the last version I played. However that was a good 3-4 months ago maybe even more?

Knahaten Flu seems incredibly too strong. With no end date on the tool tip, or really concrete effects listed, it's impossible to tell how long or how bad it's going to be, but it feels like it's been in every one of my counties for a few years, and probably 20+ deaths from it in a very short period of time.

For instance, in my current rulers family, 1 parent, both children, and 4 out of 5 siblings have died from it, as did my previous ruler, (i think he was my uncle)

In my recent two games, as Wayrest the flu started in my capital and lasted for about 3-4 years and wiped out my entire family, but on second play through in Winterhold the flu lasted only 2 weeks and killed only 2-3 courtiers. Intentional for locations to be affected differently?

Well, according to lore the flu lasted for 43 years. Imagine how it was before it was nerfed and it lasting 43 years. Knahaten is not fun.

It would appear that I'm stuck waiting for the next version to release. Even after going through the fix for the crash they provide this mod is still unplayable for me. I can not reach the main menu at all. I've grown frustrated after the tenth or eleventh time attempting to prevent the crash.

Pre-nerf Knahaten flu was awesome.

Everybody died except for the noble emperor who fled like a frightened child to his mighty fleet and just sort of sat there for a decade.
If they find a new extremely deadly flu, i think they should name it after the knahaten.

I wish we had that level of control on diseases in CK2 but sadly we don't :/
It's all pretty much random.

Have you disabled DLC's and the music submod etc? They can have a big effect on efficiency when they are enabled. I used to play with all the cosmetic DLC's on (portrait packs mainly) as they made the different races stand out especially the Celtic, Russian and Norse packs but put a lot of extra strain on my machine. Ended up killing one hard drive in the end, I only use the African portraits now along with the main content ones.

If not it may be the specs on your machine aren't enough to handle the mod, lots of people with 32bit machines have problems getting it to work, also updating your drivers are a good idea

I'd argue to take out the local_revolt_risk since dead people do not revolt. Plus why should they want independence or a new liege anyway, they'd still be dying.

Have you guys though about implementing an event chain for the flu, just to give the event itself more flavour?

There is currently no way to check for a specific disease; I had a whole system setup dealing with quarantines and eliminating infected populations and a few narrative events drawn up around the flu, but it was scrapped due to this.

If you cannot reach the main menu, it probably means you haven't copied the fix files into the correct location. They should go into Documents\Crusader Kings II\mod\ElderKings and REPLACE the existing files there. They DO NOT go into the Documents\Crusader Kings II\ElderKings folder (as that holds stuff like player settings and saves).

Off the top of my head thinking: Could you fire an event when the flu arrives? I'm thinking comparatively like when you have a Councillor do something

I think The Winter King has a couple of events when the plague of Justinian arrives. You could try looking there.
