From looking at some past problems, the character portrait click crash was due to a problem with the base game (user report a crash in base CK2 as well). The only thing I can recommend at this point is a complete wipe of your CK2 install (Steam has been known to fail at verifying files) and installing from scratch. Or you could wait until Korbah rolls out 0.1.4.
You haven't installed the fix correctly. That's a problem with the custom tooltips, so the fixed files did not end up in the right place. Make sure you follow the instructions completely, and that the replacement files end up in the mod\ElderKings folder and OVERWRITE the existing ones.
alright I took your advice and the map is still black but now there's the realms, characters, religions, cultures, and traits it seems only the map is a problem
If your checksum is correct, trying updating your video card drivers. Also, what kind of system are you running? The black map is a known issue with some hardware that isn't powerful enough to run Elder Kings (which has higher system resource draw than vanilla).
One doesn't. The checksum is generated by the game analyzing the data files it is running, and is used to allow the user to verify that he is running the version that he should be. If the checksum displayed does not match the checksum that should be displayed for the mod, then one can try reinstalling- and making sure one follows the directions for installation.
Also, making sure they have the right patch for vanilla before installing the mod.
When I play the mod it runs fineish but I don't seem to get any colors when playing.

Its random actually, although if i recall this correctly, nords have a slightly higher chance. Regardless the dragonborn can be anyone and any race, meaning it could potentially also be a argonian courtier, or a dunmer baron, or a altmer duke.
Roughly every 12000 months, the event for becoming a Dragonborn will fire on a character that isn't undead/immortal/terrible, provided the character is at least 16 and there are no other Dragonborns. The actual time for it to happen varies based on a couple of things, so for instance a 16-34 year old nord in prison played by a player with a bucketload of traits has the highest chance of the event popping for them. I think.
You can also check out the event for yourself in the game files, it's in the events folder under s_dragonborn.txt.
It does mean I don't want to play when I know the patch will arrive soon, so I don't waste my time.
