What error is it giving you? I'm trying to reproduce the problem from a fresh install of 0.1.3a, but I can't seem to.

I reinstalled with the non-LoR install option and actually got into game, I didn't patch across that "avatar.gif" file you were talking about.

Got into game unpaused but a few days later a crash these are my logs:

That is odd to say the least. I don't think EK uses assets from Sunset Invasion. Also, taking a quick look at those error lines in the files, nothing has been changed there from stock 0.1.3a (there were no custom_tooltips there).

What DLC are you running, or not running? And did you install anything on top of your CK2 install? What's your base CK2 checksum?

Ok well, went through all the files looking for "custom_tooltip" and fixing up those references. Did not add in the new events that appear to have appeared in the latest patch, because I was unsure of the ramifications of them/whether they were thematically appropriate. In addition to the defines changes, the game does not spectacularly crash upon launch now. Most of the files in each folder I didn't really touch, but I couldn't remember exactly which files I had to change stuff in, so I just RARed the whole thing.

I haven't really run the game for more than a few years in game though, so I could have missed something.

EDIT: In case it's not completely obvious what to do with this, un-RAR and drag the contents into your mod/ElderKings folder and replace everything.

Given that the above fix seems to work for most users who have tried it so far, I propose that this post be linked on the first post as an unofficial compatibility patch.

This is playing with no Sunset, Republics, LoR or Old Gods.. not a crash thankfully but still something missing I think?

Well, that checksum doesn't seem to be correct. Upon loading with the mod and the fix, my checksum is PXMT. The base game is supposed to be MLYP. Do you have either of those checksums?

Sorry I meant the RYCK to be my EK ingame when I could actually get in.. It doesn't make much sense.

*The Mod download from this thread with the default settings with your fix and it just doesn't work for some reason. the download with the "no LoR" install option with your patch gets me ingame for a few days but at other times it crashes too.

In the last page, they put a fix for the updade. Im playing stable for almost 120 year for now

It's an unofficial fix not supported by me. I appreciate that another individual took the initiative to release a temp fix while I'm working on 0.1.4, but I can't and won't offer help if there are issues with it (and adding to the first post would suggest I will).

Well, the only thing I can think of is an incorrect installation or file corruption. I would try deleting the mod folder completely and redownloading.

EDIT: To expand on that, and give proper procedure.

1) Delete Elder Kings from your mod folder.
2) Download a fresh copy of 0.1.3a. Extract that to the mod folder.
3) IF you do NOT have LOR, get the fix for that and replace the files. If you do have LOR, skip this step.
4) Download my hotfix and replace the files that conflict. You don't need the temp 1.102/1.103 hotfix as it is redundant with the changes (files are changed again).

Just letting everyone know, my main HDD failed today...

...but don't worry, unlike the majority of the modder creed, I actually make backups, although it does mean I need to rebuild the portraits since I didn't upload them to the SVN or my external, but that shouldn't take long once ImmortalWombat and Ashrad get back to me :laugh:

Good news; Certain things have reinvigorated my thirst for modding, so today after sticking in my spare HDD I've been working a lot more on the mod; by the end of this week I should have the basic bookmark finished (which is a major milestone for 0.1.4, can't release a mod without at least one bookmark functioning), and hopefully my new Diplomatic stuff, leaving only the Spell System rewrite, bug fixing (really need someone who knows what they're doing with CBs, anyone available? :ninja:), and the Vampire system for 0.1.4. Already drawing up a list of stuff I need to do for 0.1.5 too (which will no doubt include a boatload of bugs reported by you guys, but that's why we released a 0.1.0 and not a 1.0.0 :p).

I can also confirm the 'fix' works. :)

I have no clue what I am doing though! Do you play this mod like CK2 (start as a count and work up) or should I start as a king? If it is the former can someone suggest a cool count to start as; if the latter a cool 'King'? Ideally one which is a different to CK2 as possible.
