Here's something to make the new decadence mechanics work better.
This mod makes three changes to the Straighten Up decision and decadence:
First, it so that only the head of a dynasty or another dynasty member of equal rank can use it at all. This makes it much more manageable by players, but also imposes a balance by placing all of the piety cost on a single character.
Second, the "already negotiated" modifier is now a character relation instead of a simple flag on the target character. This means other characters can still negotiate with the target character (subject to the new limit I described above). Mostly, this is so your heir can renegotiate if your ruler dies at a bad time.
Third, a small hidden event clears the Decadent trait from any characters with a King title or Zealous trait, because they could not gain decadence in the first place under those conditions. It also solves your ruler being stuck with the trait because no one can ask him to straighten up.
Observed result:
AI realms stay super stable and powerful at around 0 decadence for around 3 or 4 generations, then at some point enter a death spiral out of being unable to muster enough piety to straighten up all dynasty members. At that point, the decadence effects of less income and troop morale makes it harder for them to win holy wars to farm piety, which makes the problem worse and so on.
Outside powers (players) can also hasten the collapse of a Muslim realm by assisting their enemies in holy wars. Anything that drains piety is a powerful long term tool against them now.
