The Steppe faces files can be added manually to pretty much anything though. All you need is a bit of patience. I currently have them in both vanilla and TPATT, I even added them to BLC8 with mixed results. Pechenegs and Cumans turned out fine, Turks were a failure though.

@ Crack'd
Completely comprehensible, but i still hope we might see your great work regarding european cultures once.
The teasers you showed were simply too beautiful to get lost.
Good luck with work and the pregnancy.

Why don't you use BLC8d12 ? Or do you ? It's richvhs' last version.

Second, yes. It is the default set for Orthodox people (wanted to make my own Klobuk), and I even have a set just for the Ecumenical Patriarch.

CrakdToothGrin,

is there anyway to use these vestments? or are they in the latest update? I have not used this mod yet

I mostly just want correct orthodox vestments in my game

Also, do you mind posting the set for the Patriarch of Constantinople?

I just tweaked the culture text file to give the new Altaics (Khazars, Bolghars, Avars) Pecheneg gfx. I also switched the d_pechenegs.tga to k_pechenegs, to reflect the new title. With those two changes, I think/hope that the mod should be compatible with TOG. I figure I might as well put it up here. I hope you don't mind, CrackdToothGrin

Anyway, just replace the folder of the mod package you're using with the appropriate one of these, and you should be good to go. However, all I did was copy the TOG cultures.txt and replace turkishgfx with pecheneggfx or cumangfx where appropriate, and switch 1 letter of the name of the image file for the Pecheneg tribal CoA. It's easy enough that anyone could do it on their own.

To be honest, I'm having a hard time finding exactly where the religious rules are set for the properties file. They, well... They removed them. And, I'm afraid religious gear is hard-coded. So, I get to take everything back to square one. And, I'm fairly certain that there will be no special or unique religious gear without further clarification from Paradox.

Thanks for putting the legwork in here. I have to redo everything code-wise, again. But, at least I have a few days' grace while it works itself out and everyone scrambles to update the mods.

There seems to be an entirely new .dds strip for religious items, I think -- and Crackd, check common\religions\00_religions.txt -- I've noticed that there are new entries there for religions that specify where on a dds strip to look for religious clothing.

Example: " religious_clothing_head = 0
religious_clothing_priest = 1"

So what I'm thinking is that it's not hardcoded, just moved elsewhere. They're no longer appending them to cultures, but having a universal .dds strip for all religious hats, and then pointing directly to that for all cultures.

Yep, there is indeed a dds for religious headgear. They said that they had fiddled around with how portraits were contstructed but that's good news from mudcrabmerchant. I will edit files tonight!

I did see they had a new file. But, I saw that coming anyways. Makes sense from a memory footprint standoint.

...It's these files you want! Please sir, work your magic. Deliver us from the post-medieval Orthodox imperial miters, and give us klobuks! (Though now that I think of it, I can't find any history of use of the use of kobluks)

The history of klobuk use is complex, but in short, they were used by all levels of Orthodox priesthood. Only the bishops and higher used mitres. And, the current form of bulbous mitre wasn't used until after the fall of Constantinople. So, everyone used various forms of floppy mitres. The real ornate parts with the vestments were the rest of the costume. The Klobuk and Epanokamelavkion were the main headgear, but sometimes they used other stuff too, like a skouphos. There were also special vestments worn based on which patriarchate/diocese you were part of. Also, some of the Byzantine court officials wore hats (specifically a Kalimavkion) like the priests. There were also stylistic differences in country of origin. The Russians wore brimmed Epanokalimavkion, the Greeks, brimmed and pointed or just pointed, and the Bulgarians/Vlachs used raised brims with pleats on the top. They could also occasionally have a small cross on the Kalimavkion for special purposes.

I'm quite familiar with that, just couldn't find a history of the Klobuk. The Orthodox clergy I know aren't interested at all in the history of their vestments. I assume there would be good information in Greek and Russian, but I speak neither language. Eh, in any case, we're certain that the mitre is post-medieval, so we can chuck it out. :)

On a related note, any plans on Catholic mitres? The form varied widely in the centuries of gameplay.

Crap, I've actually been saying that to people as a wishful phrase on their birthday for the last three years...back to school I go...

It's okay. Almost all you Europeans are multilingual, so slips are okay. At least you don't speak "a lot of little bits" of languages. The fact that I can speak Spanish makes me considered somewhat of a pariah where I'm from.

Yeah, it's hard to find information on the history of the vestments. But, we do have icons, wall paintings, miniatures, and costume plates from 17th-20th Century plays to draw from. And, if you can trust Google translate, you can get around most foreign sites to find what you need. And, surprisingly, the Catholic resources online are excellent for information on the Orthodox, albeit very biased in nature. They are also well-sourced.

EDIT: Also, I would love to do more with the Catholics. If I can work my way around adding my own stuff, I'll probably definitely increase the variety of things on there.

I found references to the religious .dds files in portrait_sprites.gfx, at the end of western male and western female. There you can add more frames. I hope that can help. I wouldn't know myself, because I can't comprehend the way portraits work at all.

Haha, I'm an insular Northern European, only the continental ones are uber-multilingual, particularly the Belgians for obvious reasons. My Flemish is hilarious, I speak it with a West Flemish (read: Redneck to most other Flemish) accent on top of the foreign one I already have...

Back on track: I'd love to see what you'd do with the Catholics TBH!
