I started compiling a list of "proper" Russian baronies for the revised edition. I'll render a raster with original Rus, Ruthenia, Perm, VB baronies over the weekend. I guess you'll want to do the steppes yourself.

Probably, since that's my area of love. In either case, vanilla Steppes are frickin' horrible. I feel like slamming my face into the keyboard. I feel a little more sympathy when I see a post about how bad the map is. The Balkans, the Baltic... Basically anywhere "Not Europe" is horrible. Almost every single division is based on modern politcal borders, too. It's weird.

Could a version of the map without India be released before India is actually finished?

Probably not, just because that means I would have to stop map work on placing the counties and then start doing text-based work to make it India-free. Also, I don't really know how to do that. This is a learning process for me at the moment. MY first in-game changes were just a crappy vanilla port-over, so it required no real work.

You're not also doing Labrador and Cape Verde, aren't you? The former will probably be terra incognita but the latter... Cape Dakar wasn't really circumnavigated until late 15th century.

Or... a thought just struck me — Vinland?

Cape Dakar won't be sailable. When I start making my own changes, if I feel up to it I might make provinces on the Gambia, but nothing south of the Canarias will be reachable by sea.

As to Greenland, Helluland, Markland, and Vinland; They will be on the map as Terra Incognita, but available should a modder decide to make a sub mod with them in it.

In the back of my mind, I have this grand goal of having those areas populated by an immortal "character" with a series of global flags to keep the courts and such clean. The idea would be to populate Greenland with a series of decisions and special CBs, and then populate North America the same way. If you can do it before the Little Ice Age comes, then a permanent presence of Europeans in America can maybe be scripted into an alternative scenario for the converter to EUIV.

That is outside the scope of near-term plans.

It looks like you're missing Unzha and Vetluga rivers on your map, they are important for drawing Rus-Mari borders.

I was having a hard time finding river data sets, and sadly it seems to be missing those two rivers. I might be able to pull geostationary off of something like wikimapia or a .kml file and add it to the raster.

Although i have a question , is the plan to make one map ironman-compatible and another not still the plan ? Because i've noticed in those screenshot you've been showing us that mountains, especially in the georgia area have been heavily changed.

I intend for the map to be ironman-compatible and achievements-compatible, yes. At least the first version. After that, I am going to make a lot of changes.

Anyways, busted through Germany and the Baltic. The provinces were so bad that I just gave up and tried to freehand it as best as possible. They did a really bad job on Germany. It's one of the worst so far. Aynways, enjoy.

Who would have though that Germany of all places would be bad...
Paradox aren't German, they're Swedish. Didn't they also manage to mess up Scandinavia of all places though?
Germany is mostly copied over from CK1, albeit with more added provinces. The layout and overall shapes stayed the same, i. e. bad.

I know, but it's like England or France in that it's well attested with relatively stable structures throughout the entire Middle Ages...
Paradox works in mysterious ways. I foresee much, much pain for Crackd to do Russia. And even more pain to do Persia. And even more pain to do India.

Anyways, I hope Hungary comes next. It's already neatly outlined in thin white on Crackd's latest WIP, so I'm thinking it will come next. Then, I'd suppose, Poland, then Lithuania, then copious amounts of pure distilled pain.

Okay, the job's done. The zip contains the table of coordinates I used to make the raster.

The extents of the raster are 45-70 lat, 15-95 lon and are marked with the black border, the CRS is WGS84. The lines converge on the capitals. Please note that Torzhok is absolutely incorrect. VB counties at least have their capitals in the right place (if we ignore completely mad Cheremisa duchies).
