MOD currently not necessary as are issues are fixed with v2.6.2.

Discouraged by the lack of the response for the list of the converted issues thread: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/2-3-2-converter-issues.829916/, I decided to create my own small modification that will fix ones that I am able to fix by myself ( fixed issues are bolded). Until now I have used this modification privately, hopping that the fixes will be included in next major patch, but as there are no major (unfixable by mod) issues with current patch, I decided to release it in public.

This mod does not aim to improve/change the conversion working, it only only created to provide fixes to obvious bugs. Given that is not aimed to compete with Vanilla Converted Improved mod. The mod is ironman compatible.

F3. Comanche (COM) is still OPM with High Technolgy group, while it has
neighboring uncolonized provinces.

F4. Kiowa (KIO), Charrua (CUA) and Pequot (PEQ) are OPM nations with
native technology groups that borders boosted countries. They should
receive boost in technology and provinces number to avoid being
immediately annexed.

F5. Aztec marches: Tarascan (TAR), Tlapanec (TLA), Kiche (KIC), Tlaxcala

Other comments:
If during the game you will find that some of the localization is missing, that means you have encountered the "C10. The BOM mark used in localisation files files from eu4_converter/copy/localisation directory is not handled correctly and as consequence the custom localisations are not loaded (e.g. Aztec Ideas)." problem. To fix it, edit files in ${YOUR_MOD}/localisation and remove "" (malformed BOM) from the first line.

The localisation problems are mostly fixed for english version of the game.

I have created a version of the mod that fixes "C10. The BOM mark used in localisation files files from eu4_converter/copy/localisation directory is not handled correctly and as consequence the custom localisations are not loaded (e.g. Aztec Ideas)" without need to manually edit the localisation files after the conversion. This files relies on storing copy of all localisation files in the mod with BOM removed.

As the localisation problems are system depended, before integrating the fix into release, I would like to ask you dear paradoxians to perform test of the mod on Windows/MAC sytem. The test consists of:
1. Running conversion with Sunset Invasion enabled on any bookmark.
2. Loading the EU4 with the converted save mod.
3. Selecting the Aztec nation on the country selection screen.
4. If the description of the ideas says "Aztec Ideas" then the fix is working correctly. If it says "aztec_ideas" then something went wrong.
Before reporting, pleases make sure that both CK2 and EU4 is set to same language.

I heard that recently Paradox broke building holdings increases basetax. A quick skim of the patchnotes didn't mention it. Will this be in a future update or are you leaving it to the other guys in the Improved Converter project?
 
Yeah, the converter has never changed base taxes or other provincial modifiers. I think at one point it did add universities in provinces based on buildings in CK2 but not sure if that was just me owning provinces that already had universities at game start anyway.
 

I would rather believe PDX team members:
I know it irritates me, but I haven't come up with a balanced solution I'm happy with. So for now it goes with EU4's base tax. Because that is good enough while my experiments haven't been perfect.

Also this mod aim to add fixes for some obvious bugs. I do not want to redo/compete with "VCI" mod.
 
I wonder if it's possible to correct one very weird thing in vanilla converter - after export Turkish countries have eastern technology group (instead of anatolian) and central european countries (Poland, Bohemia, Hungary) have muslim technology group.

This is the WAD, see following post of the Groogy:
Its working as designed, and during the time of 769 and 867 it isn't far fetched to put the Indian's as the strongest technologically. That is how the history files for CK2 are scripted. How it is right now is that it calculated a median value of everyone in the world, those that hits over that mark with a good margin becomes western, if you are near the median then you are eastern and if you are way below then you get something much worse.

You should check the Vanilla Converted Improved mod thread :).

If you can not recover their actual icon from CK2, using the orthodox one is defintely the lesser evil, since they were closer to them theologically and also actually seen and persecuted as heresies by the orthodox church.

Paradox should hire you to maintain the converter, since they are clearly giving up on the poor thing alltogether.

I think that this is a matter of the resource allocation for the converter. In the past releases there were some fixed to the conversion, and they was mostly focused on the internal problems with the algorithm that cannot be fixed by editing data files in mod like mine. Also the converter fixes are planned for major patch - this leads to the problem that the old problems may indeed be fixed, but new problems gets introduced by next EU4/CK2 patch. I think that converter fixes should be targeted to last minor patch, to give us as long as possible period of bug-free experience.

The Nestorian and Messalian are converted to the Coptic in the case when the game is converted without Sons of Abraham enabled, and I did not recognized this as the bug (I do not have enough knowledge on this topic). My mod just apply this approach consequently, and also uses Coptic icon in case of the conversion with SoA.

If you could post a reference to materials that will support that the conversion of Nestorian and Messalian to Coptic should be considered as the bug, and they should be converted to Orthodox instead, then I will change both conversion without SoA and icon (I want to keep this two in sync).

As you can see, Nestorianism emerged as a heresy of the Chalcedonian (=Orthodox) church long before Miaphysitism (= the Coptic Church) even existed and is the opposite position theologically.
